I personally like a 65-35 balance of tsun to dere. I like when tsunderes stay kinda bossy and mean even after they’ve opened up, but instead of getting upset when their SO teases them for it they get smiley and blushy. I like tough people in soft relationships, it’s so cute.
I like those portrayals as well, but I especially enjoy that you described all this b/c I really don’t want to do trope math.
That sounds like the reason I felt in love with Nymph, from Heaven's Lost Property and tsunderes in general. That remaining fieriness and bit of sweetness, is very attractive to me. It's hard to describe, but you hit the nail on the head.

In terms of tsundere I think I'm probably going with like 40% tsun 60% dere, since I like the thought of a seemingly aloof character with guarded feelings having their heart of gold coaxed out by someone they come to love (I'm not all too into characters who are more openly hostile)

10:25 oh my god thank you so much for pronouncing Dimitrescu correctly. I'm Romanian and RE8 drove me up a wall with how much the game is obviously set there but they never actually mention it by name and all the American VAs pronounce everything in the dumbest way. It's so grating hearing everyone trip over themselves to say "damatresk" when the name really is written pretty phonetically.

I think, perhaps, that maybe the wrong lesson gets learned too often. It's not "being an aggressive male" but that maybe others interpret that as assertiveness and an unafraid attempt at your genuine personality. Like asserting that you know what'd be best for a group grade, providing evidence to support your claims, having a plan set up...
Not just trampling other's voices and being loud. It's okay to have emotions, its best when you can express those in moderation. Because moderation is likely just as rare a quality as genuine confidence.

Tsun and Dere levels vary by preference though I'd recommend not going above a 70/30 split in either direction as any greater imbalance than that risks ruining the dish. You can go over that if your want, but I'd recommend that if you do you should add some brown sugar or lemon respectively to help balance out the overall flavor.
In all seriousness I like a greater amount of tsun in a tsundere cuz those kinda personalities basically grow the kind of organic, free-range conflict I want injected straight into my veins. That being said I do feel like the character archetypes often reads as romanticizing abuse, which is yikes as fuck.

the tsun-dere ratio depends alot on how aware the love interest is of the tsundere's true feelings.
from a writing standpoint, I feel like you can get away with alot more tsun when you make it perfectly clear that the love interest is at worst kinda exhausted with it all but mainly just amused and at best endeared bc they know the other one is just acting out due to being flustered.
like with that one currently running anime about the high schoolers doing sports commentary on a sentient visual novel, the villainess of the story does indeed come off as cruel when lacking context but when her prince fiancé is given that context by, uh- their "gods", he's immediately smitten by her in a way he wasn't before.
and sometimes a tsundere is just like a hedgehog, you just need to learn how to pet them correctly and you won't get pricked by their sharp exterior, bring them out of their needle ball form with a lil tasty treat X3

It's been a while since I watched this show, but Senjogahara from monogatari is a good example. Because of her childhood, she's very fragile so becomes calloused and tough, distancing herself from everyone. When Araragi helps her she becomes a kinder person, but those walls never come down. As they grow closer, she's becomes nicer, she matures, she understands her father's neglect better. Not flipping a switch from tsun to dere, but, like, becoming an adult through dealing with trauma and developing relationships, while remaining the stone you had to carve yourself from.
