You might notice something is a little different about Henry's monstersona in this video. From here on out, he's going to be a ghosty man and the reason goes beyond fitting the new branding. Let's just say the "unfortunate implications" of lizard people haven't been lost on us, and for awhile we've been meaning to change it. The renaming of the channel happened to be the perfect opportunity! Keep it real, WANA-bees.
The complete list of trope IDs from the series so far: Gus Zagarella: sealed good in a can, uke, flower mouth, ocean of adventure, wrestler of beasts, immune to bullets, long-range fighter, single-issue wonk, I have your wife, dirty coward, flesh-eating zombie, archnemesis dad, fake ultimate mook, tentacled terror, giant mook, hard light, clip-art animation, the so-called coward Meg Tuten: nonhuman non-binary, cloudcuckoolander, delighting in riddles, big little brother, running on all fours, creepy mortician, large and in charge, ominous save prompt, determined widow, dancing with myself, beast with a human face, bullying a dragon, those magnificent flying machines, puzzling platypus, plot-sensitive latch, the tunguska event, church lady, sensei for scoundrels Henry Galley: gyaru girl, affably evil, contested sequel, consolation prize, indulgent fantasy segue, umpteenth customer, scorpion person, dangerous forbidden technique, loner turned friend, stupid evil, jerkass, woobie, stock light-novel calamity princess, fearless infant, imagined innuendo, creepy cockroach, shell-shocked veteran, resurrected murderer And special guests: Charlie Porritt: plant person Al Miller: fighting clown Buffy the Dog: egg folk Addison Peacock: nightmare fuel station attendant, meganekko, daddy’s little villain, genius thriller, dancin’ in the ruins Moved Addison back to the special guest category now that the trilogy is over. Glad that this series has remained consistently amazing through the rebranding! Troper Fails, like Troper Tales before it, is permanently stuck in the past, and I think that’s beautiful
This series is now my replacement for twitter. I know it will inflict massive psychic damage on me and yet I still press play and verbally moan in pain
To the question about fake video game stories had a friend who convinced me in Elementary school that A) a GTA game had a bunch of secret monsters in it with super elaborate stories and B) he had a special edition of Legend of Zelda: Minish Cap with a bunch of alternate scenes. I also somehow managed to convince myself that Animal Crossing had secret characters that only appeared if you changed the clock to as far forward or backwards as it could go. Go back, and a caveman animal would be wandering around, go forward, and there would be a futuristic cat girl. I convinced myself this was a thing, but then never actually tested to see if this would happen. I have no idea where I got the idea or why I believed this thing I just imagined on my own.
The only flex I can say about my dreams requires you to know the context that lucidity does not automatically grant me control of my dream. Like trying to fly, only to jump. It takes effort to make the dream have any meaningful change. So when my dreams decide to turn nightmarish, like spawning a bunch of tornadoes or flash flooding to drown me, it takes a genuine effort to actually change the dream. Like using temperature to make the tornadoes dissipate, or turning myself into a literal rocket to outfly the flood. And that is just therapy, because beating an imaginary problem where there is no real stakes is great stress relief when you feel overwhelmed in real life.
Camp Lazlo was probably the platonic ideal of a 6/10 show that you don’t necessarily love but you enjoy it enough to not change the channel. It has a little bit of the Joe Murray charm in there, albiet really dumbed down from Rocko’s. It was probably the closest thing you could get to Good Spongebob at the time while also not quite reaching the same lows as season 4-onwards era Spongebob, which is what was mostly airing on Nick at the time. Fun fact, apparently the assistant camp counselor Mr. Slinkman is Tom Kenny’s favorite voice role he’s done.
I got fooled by some dumb video that told me I could get a "Shadow Tunic" in Ocarina of Time. According to this video, you could go to the temple of time, spam the shield while wearing the hover boots to start raising up into the air until Link's head touched the top of the entrance, then leave. This would then transport you to Peach's castle and turn you into a rabbit, and by entering the castle you'd go back to the temple of time as link again, now wearing the shadow tunic, which apparently had the effects of the other tunics and increased your damage or something. I was a very stupid child for believing that.
Oh man. I, like some of the people in this video, had a Nostalgia Critic dream back when I was obsessed with him. Nothing special, it was just me in a bathroom stall only to see the Nostalgia Critic's manic smiling face leaning down to stare at me from under the door frame. It was a weird dream. Also once dreamed that Markiplier was just hanging out in my grandmother's living room, looking at me like I was weird for questioning his presence.
My funniest dream was when I was walking outside my home and Chris Hemsworth in a red Ferrari started yelling at me because I was jaywalking. He then tried to run me over and kill me while driving at less than 5 mph. I inherently knew this and was inexplicably terrified of this
Had a dream where I was floating in a black void. The voice of Cecil from Welcome to Nightvale was talking about how scientist have managed to make the planet Mercury age by two years and what an amazing scientific accomplishment this was. Throughout his monologue I was slowly growing more and more terrified thinking about the implications of what he was saying. Eventually it ends with him saying “regardless of what science is able to accomplish there is one thing that remains the same…” His voice turns monstrous, “The universe is dying”. I then woke up. The funny thing is I had this dream twice and the only difference was that the ending of the second time he said “You are dying”.
1:16 To be fair, I think there are certain dreams where applying this trope makes sense. Like, I had at least one dream where it was believable enough for me to be genuinely confused if it had actually happened the next day. I also remember a situation during a stormy night, where I woke up to the noise of the wind outside and, while still being half asleep, thought that the roof had collapsed on me for a straight second, before the onset of panic made me wake up for real and realize that this was obviously not the case. That being said, this doesn't seem to apply to any of these troper's dreams, all of these were basically "Check out this weird dream I had, wouldn't it be cool if that happened in real life?"
I knew a guy in elementary school who was addicted to being the smartest one about Pokemon, and to accomplish this he made up a whole series of "secret evolutions", fourth evolution stages for whatever Pokemon he found really cool. Of course they all had Mew-truck-level convoluted steps to unlock so nobody would be able to go and try it for themselves. Terminally online even as a kid, I was under his spell for about one or two days before a basic ability to use search engines and look at wikis made me realize he was completely full of it. From that point forward I just messed with him. In conversations about Pokemon I'd casually mention a "secret evolution" that I completely made up, acting as if I didn't even question that he would know about it, expert that he was. Of course, he fell for it every time and went "oh, yeah, I got that one in Platinum" or whatever.
Honestly I kind of have fun in the dreams where I end up dying. By contrast, the most annoying from a practical ones are the realistic ones that mess with my memory. Like "Ready to go to dinner? What, we didnt plan that? Oh. I dreamed those plans."
It's definitely a nitpick but I'll also say it anyway With the way meg's art style has shifted a bit I think it'd be neat to their and gus's pictures be redone as well to fit together However that takes time, effort, and even caring about it. Lots of stuff hence why it's a nitpick.
Yknow what fuck it I'm drawing all the monstersonas However i don't have Twitter or whatnot so idk where to put it to show Yknow what yknow what? I'll just draw it anyway
HAH! i knew i talked about drawing you guys before (and then forgot about it until this day 😅) Anyway uh. Leaving it here that there *is* an animatic i made of the "I am slenderman" bit Hopefully this is hidden enough to not be annoying!
I told my little sister that if you got 100% completition on Lego Marvel Super Heroes then you could go beyond the city limits and through the closed off bridge. It almost got her to finish the whole thing too.
When I was a kid one of the big Gaming myths was that you could unlock the other console exclusive characters in any version of Soul Calibur II. This mainly started because one kid was convinced that because all three characters were in the strategy guide it meant there was a way to get them. I didn't believe it after doing some digging myself and asking around, but it was a fun time.
I was a camp lazlo enjoyer. Idk if I found the art style charming, or that it was one of the few cartoons my parents didn’t immediately call “rude delinquent propaganda” like ed, edd and eddy. I was pleasantly surprised when I later learned CL was made by the same guy who did rocko’s modern life
I was told, I could unlock a Tamaki from Ouran High School Host Club as a Captain Falcon. I spent 3 weeks trying to beat every character as a every character. Only to find out it was a lie.
AHHHHHHH I MISSED THIS SERIES SO MUCH it's what REALLY got me into this channel and I thoroughly enjoyed this... oh no, what if I wake up and it was All Just A Dream?!
It wasn’t like a huge thing but in Pokémon emerald I was convinced the cave on the battle frontier was where you captured Deoxys, so I was unbelievably disappointed when it was just a bunch of smeargle
Something notable about my dreams, when I was a kid, they would sometimes just loop. I’d reach a point and then it would start from the beginning and I was aware or the looping nature, so I’d do 2-3 loops usually before waking up with a couple notable exceptions, one being about 20 loops (it was a short loop)
I somehow convinced myself in super Mario 64 ds you could unlock bowser if you jump into the bowser painting that appears in the hallway to enter the first bowser level
This isn't really an unlockable I went after, but my brother told me when I first started playing Pokémon Emerald that if I leveled my Pokémon too high (supposedly the mythical level 120), they would die of old age. That was enough to keep 11-year-old me from completing the game at the time.
I had a dream one time where i was in the back of an ambulance. A bunch of people on motorbikes tried to take over the ambulance, while it was driving, and then somehow i psychically opened a micro contained black hole and the ambulance crashed. This then became the background for a video game i wanted to make about a psychic
I had a dream where i had two IROC camaros, one red and one blue. I forgot to put the parking brake on in the blue one and it somehow caused a scene of utter destruction down the downhill street, completely destroying cars and lawn features before appearing at the bottom, somehow just dented a little.
There was a kid in school who kept trying to convince people there were secret ways to get all the starters. Given that it was Ruby/Sapphire, which had an actual ridiculously absurd pokemon like Feebas, it was kinda believable.
I had a Nostalgia Critic dream where I was stalking him through a giant train station Like an absurdly large train station And I have no idea why I was even doing that Also one of my friend’s older brothers had me trying to find Mew under that truck in Pokémon like a decade after those original games released Also I regularly have like super realistic dreams about old internet friends that I had who I either had a falling out with or just disappeared off the face of the earth one day and I don’t know where they went reconnecting with me and like I think that it actually happened until I wake up and realize that it was a dream
My gaming "myth" was actually my child self being dumb. I once watched a video of a hacker playing around with Super Mario Galaxy, activating powers out of nowhere, activating flying mode to get to distant places and child me didn't understood it was a hack (neither knew what hacking was). So I thought this could be doable in the actual game and mind though "The only I didn't went in the game was Rosalina story room, so it must be unlocked there!". Then I proceed to read the entire story and surprisingly not get disappointed in the end (I remembered nothing that I read after). The funny bit was what motivated me to read a story in a video game: video game hacks baby
My quixotic quest for for a REAL unlockable! It was the game Gundam Battle Assault 2! I had unlocked every single character except the last one. It was really obvious which character it was, both by the single missing square in the character select screen and the fact that I beat said character in survival mode once! But because this was pre-internet and none of my friends really liked the game, I could never figure out what I needed to do. I tried beating the game with every character on the hardest difficulty, plowing through time attack mode, and a bunch of other things. It drove me nuts.
I remember someone asking me how I unlocked Naruto in Dragon Ball FighterZ and I told them it required going to actual Japan, speaking with Masashi Kishimoto, (the author of Naruto) and beating him in 3 rounds of Naruto Ultimate Ninja 3 on PS2 sonhe can give you the cheat code to put him in.
One time I had a dream that I was watching a lost media video about an unofficial online game based in Miraculous Ladybug and at the end it showed you a dead body and halfway through watching that video I got a notification from crunchy-roll saying that the Thousand Year Blood War season of Bleach had its premiere episode and then i woke up and i almost immediately knew that the Ladybug game wasn’t real but I was so disappointed that Bleach hadn’t come out
So, this episode gave us a reference to Jay Inbetweeners, whilst a previous episode gave us Will Inbetweeners. Just need a reference to Neil and Simon, then we’ll have the whole batch.
This one is a bit generic, but back when I was little and played Animal Jam. I would try and smash the natural bridge or the frozen lake by jumping on them with other characters to find a new area that was hidden.
My brother and I saw a poorly recorded TH-cam video about unlocking the infinite supermode for versus battles in the transformers prime videogame for the Nintendo (3?)DS. We assumed it was possible because there is an actual level where you are in a constant supermode while fighting a giant robot (It was definitely a hacked cartridge in the video, in retrospect...)
Back in VIth Form, this WANNA-bee attempted to spread an absurd Pokemon Go rumour involving a made-up pokemon, a rumour of Ghost Types spawning in graveyards and the Lavender Town theme. This was quite lame enough, but I ended up confessing after the first targets belived the nonsense.
Believe this was on gameFAQs or someplace like SuperCheats, (that's one you have to watch out for people mostly post whatever they want there) there used to be instructions for “an easter egg” in Ultimate Spider-Man; where I believe only as Venom at specific coordinates i.e. Upper Eastside New York there was an unassuming building you could smash into and find a warehouse, inside was supposedly a window with a ton of Marvel characters like the X-Men looking in.You weren't able to interact with them, but they would be there. I found this bizarre as I've been across the entire game since childhood, so I figured I'd give this a try at about 13 or so never did find anything.... and I knew certain things were blocked off by invisible walls. Had assumed developer left something like that hidden. Why not?

I miss Snakery, but Ghostry will be easier to draw, so it balances itself out.
Didnt make that conexion but thats a safe measure to avoid gathering some unwanted people here.
At first I thought it was a reference to Henry's Troper type at the beginning, but that makes sense.
this Jew thanks you for that
(although also I do love lizards they are very cute)
@@IsaacMayerCreativeWorkshrs a jew
So glad to see troper fails back! It's also nice to see that Henry was able to repurpose his oncelersona.
Not an oncelersona ☠️
He was canonically a sexyman after all.

I can’t believe that first Troper predicted the hit fighting game MultiVersus

If Doug Walker was in my dreams this frequently I think I’d just inject myself with pure caffeine every night to stave off the horror until I die
and in your dreams, he's just reviewing your day point by point. Complete with intros and skits mocking you specifically.

The biggest gaming lie i fell for as a kid was being able to push a pokemon to level 101

We assumed it was possible because there is an actual level where you are in a constant supermode while fighting a giant robot
(It was definitely a hacked cartridge in the video, in retrospect...)
Back in VIth Form, this WANNA-bee attempted to spread an absurd Pokemon Go rumour involving a made-up pokemon, a rumour of Ghost Types spawning in graveyards and the Lavender Town theme.
This was quite lame enough, but I ended up confessing after the first targets belived the nonsense.
you can unlock Hyacinth Bucket in GTA
Why not?
