TheSketchUpEssentials a tool only available on Sketch-up pro? I’m sure the majority of users and the majority of your viewers have the free Sketch-up version.
My viewers are spread across the online, free Make, and Pro versions - I'm not going to ignore a modeling method contained inside the program because people haven't paid for the Pro version. Bool Tools - mindsightstudios.com/booltools-2/ - contains similar tools to the Pro version and is a downloadable extension - otherwise the second method is free, though a bit more time consuming
i simply go to the bottom of the above given wall , draw couple of lines make a face as per my requirement and push pull it to the desired height, that is what i do for doors
Thanks Justin! Just what I was looking for. I got the Solid Tools extension and will play with it, but I find it tedious to heal some of my shapes to make them solid. I'm getting better at making solids, but not totally there yet... Some of my designs are pretty "organic", so it's pretty easy to not heal all of the edges from the inception.
Another great tutorial - keep 'em coming... your methodologies are unique - thank you. Also, the in depth instruction no matter how easy it may sound is most definitely appreciated!
I appreciate you wanting to comment on the vids, but when you just copy/paste the same comment over and over you just get flagged as spam in TH-cam's system...
I use "SU 2016 make" and Solid tool is disabled with me. I discovered a plugin. The principle is the same as in "Solid tool", which is still the free "Hole on solid - Multi Hole" is versatile. ;- )
Hi! I'm trying to cut a curved wall that goes around a curved u-shape staircase. My boss needs me to have it done by Wednesday and i've been trying for days with this method. I can't seem to get the same height consistent all the way up the stairs. I need the wall along the curved stairs to be 3'-0" above each step (will be used as a railing) but it just doesn't work out. Can anyone help me?
Good morning everyone! What methods do you use to cut holes in complex faces in SketchUp?

I like using Solid Inspector2 to check issues with solids. Thanks for the great content in your videos.
Yep - that's a great extension for sure!
I like this style... Showing the manual way of doing something then showing how much easier it is with an extension.
Great help. I have been trying to figure out why I can't work on curved faces. Explaining about missing geometry is what I was missing.
Glad it helped - thanks Mark!
Another well done video. I like your videos. You explain things well.

How do i make sure my walls are solid?
You have to make sure there are no holes and no interior faces. Maybe try this extension - th-cam.com/video/qCH9qa6jhaQ/w-d-xo.html
holy shit why are boolean operations a pro feature in sketchup
do yourselves a favor, use blender or any other 3d software
I'm a complete CAD beginner and I came to the same conclusion. Going to drop this and try out freecad probably.
Volume too soft...
You may want to adjust the volume on your computer
Yet another failing of Sketchup Free.
