- Bandai Machine Robo Battle Armor 5 Long animated commercial. Probably the best animation you will ever see for Battle Armor 5 (aka GoBots Courageous).
If only the Gobots animation was on this level.
Imagine how many they would’ve sold if this was the commercial
The animation in this commercial is quite impressive. And I like how the announcer says "Gattai!" (Japanese for "combine")
This makes me think a crossover with Diaclone in the current reboots would actually be some impressive figures for some reason. Both styles look like they'd have some fun elements to combine.

thats actually pretty sick and feels like a first, even though this robot is an arm for the combined Robot, he still has control of his own arms and weapons and can fire like a mounted turret while they are busy assembling the Giant Robot, that is AWESOME!!!!!

Some of the best animation seen in Machine Robo. Too bad Hanna-Barbera didn't outsource the animation to Studio Pierrot.

Was just thinking the second I saw this, "Wow, Gobots would have been a major competitor to Transformers if it had been animated by this studio, instead of Hanna-Barbera." Unfortunately, it was always looked at as a terrible copy... (Even though it came out first.)

Studio Pierrot made the animation to this which if you took a look at Saber Rider and Tobikage/Ninja Robots, you can see how lumpy and frumpy the robot designs are which fits in right here as well. That was until Tobikage did pretty badly in the toy sales in Japan, Bandai commissioned Ashi Pro to make a Machine Robo anime and thus, Revenge of Cronos radically changed the game.
Tonka did use a brief clip from this ad for their own ad their version of the toy. It's the scene at the end where the robot raises the gun and fires at the Umbra knockoff. It was a blink and you missed it kind of thing. For years, those couple seconds were the only place any actual animation from Machine Robo ever appeared in the US. Not true any more of course.
Don't get me wrong I like my Gobots but this totally gets you hyped a hell of a lot more.
Can't stop watching this "commercial".... The synth background music during the individual power suit breakdown is bad ass, perfect background setting for whats going on, definitely sets the scene! Then the animated story line that sets up the beginning of the commercial, everyone changing vehicle to robo form, and the battle scene when Courageous (in GoBot vernacular) forms is rediculous! Better than almost any of the whole GoBot cartoon catalog! Then then there's the meticulously detailed animation......theres even battle color shaded in where P4 took a hit when forming....the detail of the story line of just a cartoon!!!! Even the end of the commercial is awesome when both power suits are standing side by side with the individual suits standing besides them. This commercial is practically an episode in itself!!! The world was robbed of this....

Have you watched Revenge of Cronos? It's not as good as this but it's a GoBots Anime.
A word of warning though, there are some bad Korean subtitles of it floating about, and it's several episodes before we see many GoBots in supporting rolls.

I wonder how animating Challenge of the Gobots in this style would have affected the success of the product. Despite all the animation errors in The Transformers the Gobot cartoon looked cheap in comparison.
This animation would have drastically changed the view of GB, the amount of prestine detail in this product is dramatically grester than GoBots....positive it would have been a game changer.
I think the go bots cartoon is actually why transformers won . The transformers cartoon was so much better quality wise , had gobots had this quality of animation and the same exact story as the Hanna babera series , I think go bots would still be a thing today

Who's the blue car robot at the beginning of the group assembly? The 1 before Tux, & gets shot at before transforming. I can't make out who he is. He isn't Stallion. Who is he?
I just found out. 🙃😑He almost looks like a hybrid of different figures. His face almost looks like Crasher (the toy) for example.
His name is City Turbo II Robo,you could see him in Machine Robo: Revenge of Cronos cartoon,but unfortunately he never has his own toy,even the demo.

I love robots especially Transformer robots they are the coolest thing ever I don't care if the show then like Japanese or whatever I love every type of Transformer cartoon in English Portuguese it doesn't matter to me as long as I love Transformers I'm going to watch it and there's nothing anyone can say or do to stop me from watching this show

StarFighters76 This particular video was a toy promo commercial made in Japan before there was any series, so it has nothing to do with either the US GoBots cartoon or the Japanese Revenge of Cronos cartoon. This video is just it's own little cool thing.
The Revenge of Cronos TV series was made in Japan in 1986 as a way to sell their toys. It was a completely original anime series about planet Cronos, a planet full of peaceful robots who were invaded by aliens called the Gandora and had to fight them off. The aliens want an ancient artifact they think is hidden on the planet that grants eternal life. The story centers around a young martial arts student named Rom Stol whose father was killed by the Gandora in the first episode, and he goes on a quest to stop them. He eventually gathers friends and by the ends runs a whole army who fight and defeat the Gandora. Lots of robot fighting, martial arts and anime cliches are encountered in the story, but it is fun.

It's a random Machine Robo that was never released as a toy, seemingly made up exclusively for this commercial for some reason. Luckily, its character model is easy to find if you want to take a closer look:

+Jetpackman01 I think he actually did appear in different colors in alt mode as a Racer in episode of Revenge of Cronos.
It's possible, but I don't think I ever saw him. Then again, I could've just been missing him because I was too distracted trying to make sense out of the terrible subtitles from the Korean bootleg.
