- Humph, turns out these reject robos here in america were actually cool in another life! hahaa. YET, just like the superior Transformers series, Cykill is not imune to the Optimus Prime curse of the animators "accidentally" painting him blue.
Now if the Hanna Barbera Gobots looked like THIS, I would've actually watched it. The Japanese designs, drawings, action, and animation are SO much better!

demoskunk this show was created two years after GoBots, because Bandai never considered having fiction supporting their toys to be a selling point. Once they learned even the GoBots TV show helped promote the toys as much as it did they set out to make a really cool show to promote the toys themselves. GoBots had to happen for this to exist.

The reason why a lot of the Renegades were good guys was because in the original toy line; before Gobots even, the only bad robots were the Devil Invaders. Which were then marketed by Tonka as the Renegade Mutants.

1:19 Oh yes, it’s s Screwhead. He appeared in this scene and appeared as an anime character with a Japanese voice. Look at his muscular design with a pointed head and red eyes. Yes, that’s Screwhead.
Screwhead walked up was like "sup, Screwhead wants to be a good guy" so they said to Screwhead "sure, Screwhead, you can be a good guy." So Screwhead was like "Cool, Screwhead can do that." And Screwhead was a good guy and spoke Japanese.
I enjoyed Gobots growing up, but after watching all episodes of Machine Robo, I think Tonka/Hanna-Barbara dropped the ball on SOME of the creativity of the show ( even though I still like it). Would have been great if they had made the bad guys the monster bots and the vehicle bots the good guys. Puzzler could have been a Guardian and Monsterous should have been a Renegade. They could have used Vamp and others as Monster foot soldiers like Japan did with Machine Robo. And have a transforming Monster bot like Scorp, Bladez or Pincher be the leader. Many 'what ifs', but it's just my reimagination.

What about a GoBots reboot?
HBO Max rebooted Hanna-Barbera with Jellystone, so I think maybe they could do the same with GoBots but with the "Machine Robo" treatment.

@@kinnikuman-devilman_fan_2002 I liked cykill because he’s a bike transformer, even if he’s just a guy pretending to be a bike. Bike transformers are not very common.

Biggest petpeeve for Gobots was watching Cy-kill convert while his head was stick out with facial expressions...
Scooter too. It was cringe. And I really disliked how the would bend and stretch when they crashed or got hit like there were in some scooby doo cartoon. I know its hannah Barbara but still... they were robots not organic life forms.
Cy-Kill is better here than in the American cartoon. Probably still Buddies with Leader-one.
If they dubbed this back in the 80s it would've given the transformers some competition
Y'know, this'll sound harsh but I'm honestly kinda glad I didn't watch Transformers G1 when I was born in the 2000's and besides the only good thing I liked about Transformers was the Dinobots and the Maximals since I find them alot cooler than the Autobots because I also think the Autobots were alot cooler in the 2000's like Armada and Animated more too cause' why not? lol.
Besides, I can just ask WB Animation to reboot GoBots like how they did with Jellystone.

At least this show had a clear distinction between the heroes and villains. In Revenge of Cronos, the good guys are all vehicles while the bad guys are insectoid-looking creatures. On the other hand, the Gobots didn't have a clear dividing line between them.
A good dubbing and this would have given Transformers a run for their money back in the day.

in Machine Robo ALL the Renegades were good guys(minus those monstrous ones, those were the villains), but in the French dub I have no clue

Machine Robo was one of my favorite cartoons. Although I also loved Gobots as kid.
Machine robo even more interesting than Transformers imo.
I don’t know why Hanna Barbera didn’t just dub over the original animation, like with Battle of the Planets.
I understood nothing, but loved every minute.

I never watched this growing up(mostly because I wasn't born yet) but I did grow up with Machine Robo Rescue and it was an amazing show. It could've competed with transformers if the stars aligned a little differently.
I watched Go Bots it's but didn't see this Japanese version I was robbed of a good classic.
I had no problem with GoBots but I really have an issue with the godawful designs in the GoBots cartoon. If only they've done it like this maybe GoBots may work but instead we got something and 4 years later Japan went and made the Machine Robo anime.

This anime is actually really good if you can overlook the formulaic nature of the first 20 episodes and bad subs.
For many years i only know baikanfu not knowing it was japanese version of gobots

So the american gobots company just was like "Ooo we like him, and her, Ooo yea lets use that." And did they just roll dice on who would be the good guys and who would be bad. Even the main robos in this one got knocked down to background characters in the show n movie.

David Dimalanta And Fitor is with the good guys as well. He's even the leader in Machine Robo Rescue.
David Dimalanta pretty much everyone except the "Monster" GoBots were good guys in the original Japanese concept. Good guy toys vastly outnumbered bad guys, so in the show they had a lot of non-toy villains added in.
In the French dub, they said that Cy-Kill reformed and Blue Jet(Fitor) is called Leader-1

Cy-kill is always Cy-kill to me (and I prefer Cy-kill's personality much more over the later Machine Robo ver.)
Funny part is the subtitles are horribly inaccurate. He speaks English words often and mentions names and they get it wrong.

Boy, imagine Gobot looked as good as it's source material... One of the biggest problems with Gobots was the character design. Especially when it's compared to Transformers. It tried too hard to be "toy accurate" which made most of the gobots sans the main three Guardians and Renegades look unappealing compared to Transformers which took a lot of creative liberties in it's character design. I say if only Hasbro/takera decided to fully bring back the gobots and gave them all a complete transformers make over. They already sorta doing that with a few gobots, especially with the Renegade Crasher.
Why oh, why diddn't Kenner pull a Voltron and just redub this show as the American Gobots?

Rod Jordan this was made a while after Gobots had aired. It wasn't until Transformers had begun airing in Japan did Bandai decide to commission an animated series to better promote their product. Having watched the Machine Robo, Revenge of Chronos series, I can't help but think the studio that made it was already developing ROC, and when Bandai approached them, they just decided to add the toy line to something they already had in the works. Rather than begin anew.
That's always been my theory.

It feels awkward seeing Cy-kill and Screwhead being good guys. But then again even "Challenge of the Go-bots" had their own "Shattered Glass" episode where the Renegades WERE the good guys and the Guardians were bad.

What if this was adapted into being in the future and the Gaurdians and Renagades having teamed up to fight an army of rogue monster gobots and Rom and Leena are Nick's children

I think I like this one too alot more than that lousy Transformers G1 no thanks to it's jerky Anti-Diaclone fanbase, I'm glad the Unicron Trilogy and Beast Wars were my introduction to Transformers even I think Dinobots are alot cooler than the Autobots.
Would've been awesome to see a reboot and maybe an English Dub of this too.

Gobots was far better than 'Machine Robo' !!! because in fact they looked more '' robots '' and they didn't look so soft and smooth !!! And the voices in Japanese are a horror !!! They do not reflect that they are A.I. robots !! It is unfortunately remarkable how Horrifying they present 'Cy-Kill' in 'Machine Robo' (among others) !! Whoever prefers 'Machine Robo' I don't think they have really taken that into account and the clear difference between one and the other !!!
