My take on the "Martha" scene is that Bruce realized that Clark actually posessed humanity -- loved ones, a family, selfless concern for others. And, that Bruce himself with all his twisted brutality was the one who had sank to subhuman. He sort of woke up to the fact that maybe they weren't so different.
You get it. It was quite literally a wake up call for Bruce. The bat demon coming out of her grave and attacking Bruce was a foreshadowing of it. At that moment he saw himself as the monster
@@thebat4945 I think too that the coincidence of their mothers' names made Bruce think, "This alien menace has something so personal in common with *me* ?" It was a whole complicated emotional bundle like we get a instantly sometimes. I'm glad to see by the Likes that there are *some* viewers who agree with us!
I've been saying this for years. I got it as soon as I saw it and didn't understand how ignorant people were thinking them just sharing the same name was what it was about. Not only did it humanize Superman to Batman, the name itself was enough to make Batman pause and realize he has become the villain. That is why he throws the spear away in disgust with himself.
About the “Martha” scene, I think that when Superman said “Martha”, it reminded Bruce that that was the last word his father said before he died. Throughout the movie, Alfred kept warning Bruce about going too far in his fight against criminals and about how Superman isn’t their enemy. So hearing “Martha” from Superman, he now finds himself in the position of potentially becoming the kind of person that took his parents lives, and becoming the murderer that created Batman in the first place. That’s what stopped him. The music being played in this scene is also the same as the scene in which his parents died, so I think that’s the reasoning behind the scene.
Most of people didn't understand the Martha scene. Batman did not spare superman because their mothers share the name the real reason is batman has spent 18 years preparing to kill this alien who can destroy the earth it isn't until superman uses the name that the alien becomes humanize at first batman becomes more enraged because he thinks it's a trick once he realizes it's clarks moms name he starts to understand that maybe they're not so different he never considered the evil alien had a human mother or let alone would be willing to die for her Bruce couldn't save his mother no matter how many goons batman brands he was a helpless kid when she was killed just like Clark is now he'll never be able to bring his mother back now he has an opportunity for redemption. It literally has nothing to do with both their mothers having the same name that was just a spark that you can see snapping Bruce out his kill rage that showed him super man wasn't pure evil. With potentially his last breathe Clark asking his killer to save someone else there's no argument it's not confusing or terrible writing his just grasping at straws it's in the narrative it's the entire reason we were shown the deaths of the waynes one more time.
@@Lopez03Eduardo. It's the coincidence and awkwardness that makes us disappointed. Not that we didn't get it. Of course we get it. Supes could have said "Please, he has my mother, please save her" and it would have solved everything and made the point. Supes is not alien, he is a man and he has love of family and humanity.
I've actually always considered THIS the Snyderverse Batman movie, because you even get the quick obligatory origin scene... WHICH WAS AWESOME IN 3D!!!!
The Director's Cut is a 9.5/10 for me. Nearly all the risks they took to modernize and add complexity to these characters made them so interesting and distinguished from any other interpretation before them. This is the movie that made me appreciate Superman again after I lost interest for the character as an adult. Also, I never understood some who thought DC should have copied Marvel by having solo films for every hero before the big "team-up" movie. Movies naturally have multiple characters in them: main characters & supporting. We all understand that. It's simple. They all play their roles and develop as the plot demands. Before I watch Seven Samurai, I don't feel angry that I didn't get a solo film each of the title samurai, I just enjoy (or don't) the experience the film is trying to create.
I feel like there was too large of a jump of plot telling and we were expected to know parts of the characters that weren't actually explained to us. I always felt there was a missed opportunity in not connecting it with the Arrowverse as way to tell us what was going on between films and maybe even connect thru certain plot threads. At the very least there should have been a Batman film between BvS and Doomsday should not have been involved.
A very good and much better movie. Just like the Snyder cut of JL. Such a shame and a waste. I really liked Batflek and Cavil was a great choice for Clark/Cal/Superman
@@BigBass-xf5yithe extended cut of BvS is "better" in the same way only putting 1 of ur testicles in a blender is "better" than sticking them both in lol Its still bad. They had all the extra runtime, and still couldn't come up with a reason to explain WHY B even fought S to begin with, or why he even STOPPED fighting S! It's a disgrace of a movie, and l am a Batman and Snyder fan. This should have been my favorite movie of all time.
The problems is not about movie but the storyline itself. Subplot writting very horrible and worsed. Superman And Lois try to get closer like BVS with twisted plot in every season and it worked because the plot unpredictable. John Henry Irons daughter shared same name Clark and Lois miscarriage daughter but Lois didn't tell John about that. John is a Steel base on Reign of the Supermen Comic who inspired from Superman. Morgan Edge is actually Superman's step brother and original character for those show name Tal-Rho. A family member who ally with Zod to ressurect the Krypton using Eradicator to counquer the Earth. Ally Allston who end up as Parasite trying to merge the Invest World and real world. Bizarro Superman from Bizarro World turned be Superdoom at the finale season 3. Superman in this show is already 40 years and having twin sons. One inherited the Kryptonian power and another isn't.
I agree with you. I didn't care for the Theater cut but after watching the Ultimate Cut I realized that the movie is far better then the theater version. The ultimate cut I would keep watching it more and more often realizing that it is very well written and a great film and highly underrated.
The animated Doomsday movie you mentioned is good, but the two part animated movie series The Death Of Superman/Reign of the Supermen REALLY does the story much more justice!
A couple of things. The Ultimate Edition wasn't a response to poor anything. The Ultimate Edition is the director's cut that was created first. WB decided it was too long and asked for 30 minutes to be removed. Removing 1/6 of any story rarely does something positive. It was even announced a full month before the theatrical cut was released. This is a significant part of why the movie was reviewed so badly. When Lex planned for Batman and Superman to fight he didn't know about Doomsday. Once he gains it as an option it becomes a contingency plan in case Batman fails. The fight between them also gives him the perfect opportunity to create Doomsday because both of them, especially Superman are too busy to know about it and stop it. This movie is the 2nd part of a 5 part movie arc. Saying it's wrong to use Doomsday like this and too soon to kill off Superman so soon would mean dragging it out to more than 5 movies, which wasn't the plan. No one is getting upset that Bale Batman retired as Batman after 3 movies. Sometimes you have to let the filmmaker do their thing. I think killing off Superman early, like Gandalf and Obi-Wan were drives the other characters to join together and create the group (or league). Why would anyone bother putting the team together if Superman was always there and more capable than all of them? The death of Superman perfect reason.
Indeed. Sometimes, even small cuts to save a couple of minutes can leave fans confused. When the 2011 The Thing prequel came out on DVD and Bluray, it had a bonus feature of extended scenes in the credists part, which actually answered some questions that the less logically-inclined viewer had been complaining about. Like why there were grenades on the helicopter. Logically, Lars grabbed them and put them on there before takeoff, but some people needed to actually see this to happen to accept it as part of the timeline. Similarly, when movies and TV shows are cut for time for tv broadcast (they'll take out 15 or more minutes from an episode of the A-team, for example), sometimes parts that get cut aren't the boring filler material, so a viewing on those channels can become a bit more of a confusing mess, or otherwise less enjoyable due to them cutting out parts of the action scenes.
Someone gets it. It used to bother me that people hate this movie, but it really isn't for everyone and that's ok. Personally, it's my favorite comic movie, even more so than ZSJL.
This was a crazy movie, but Ben Affleck as Batman and Gal Gadot as Wonder Woman were fantastic. The warehouse fight being a highlight. Henry Cavill as Superman was good.
Not Cavill as Superman? His Superman was always Perfect to me. Just a guy trying to help. That quiet guy in the back who stays out of the way but is the first to give you a hand when needed.
@@negativeindustrialI'm the same way-- I rewatch parts of this film (ie the fight scenes), but I can't remember the last time I re-watched the entire film
@@jmmartin7766 I actually think I’m going to watch MOS and BVS in their entirety. I’m on vacation to paint one of my cars and I have a four hour wait between what I did this morning and what I need to accomplish this afternoon. Perfect for a workout and a movie marathon. F-- it, right? Wish me luck.
Minty, you treated this controversial movie very respectfully and like you I can appreciate other peoples opinion provided they can back it up. Also interesting enough it wasn’t the dialogue but the delivery that made Lex so unLex and if you listen to the delivery in a more self confident and calm menacing voice it really makes a difference. Also I think Doomsday being a monster that took the DC trinity to take down was both fitting and enjoyable
In my honest opinion I loved Henry Cavill, Ben Affleck, and Gal Gadot playing as the DC Trinity (Superman, Batman, Wonder Woman respectively) for this film. And yes despite some of its many problems I was still watch this many more times than the Flash Film, which I will say having Michael Keaton and Sasha Callie (Both as Batman 89 and Supergirl respectively), are the highlight of that film.
The warehouse fight scene is what convinced me that Batfleck is the complete package. He looks like a Bruce Wayne and he kicked Criminal Ass as good as Batman could at the spear of his prime. Plus that Jaw line 👌🏼
That scene was the only good thing DCEU Batman has ever done, otherwise in context it makes no sense, considering The Joker and Harley Quinn are still alive *even in the god damn future*
I agree with you, that scene solidified affleck as Batman to me.Finally someone that looks like Bruce, plus has his height, and he got buff for the movie,he’s got the wide shoulders,& as you mentioned, that square jaw.Olus he can kick some ass.I want to see a solo batfleck movie with deathstroke like we was supposed to have gotten
As a huge fan of Frank Miller's '"The Dark Knight Returns,'" I loved how this film truly captures the dark, grittiness inherent in that story. And Ben Affleck was the perfect casting choice... THE best "on screen" Batman to date, imho. At the same time Minty, I agree 💯% that they crammed way too much into this film & were very flippant with some of the traditional characters (ie Jimmy Olsen), thus giving themselves away with what's wrong with every "franchise" movie these days: *Hollywood has ZERO RESPECT!* --For the characters; --For the traditional story lines; but mostly, *--FOR THE FANS!* And until they get THAT back, they're going to keep having multi-billion dollar flop$ on their hands...
Just wanna say that what you said at the end there is exactly how and what people SHOULD ALWAYS truly be thinking and doing: giving an open mind to what others who have a different opinion from you have to say, no matter what no matter how otherwise it may seem :-)
Man of steel wad ok but the Johnathan Kent death scene was one of the most moronicly stupid scenes in movie history its so bad it drags the rest of the movie down
People using "MARTHA!" like this (or MARFFA!) sound like idiots. We get it, the movie is too densely layered for your intellect, and rather than try to understand it you quote someone screaming "MARTHA!" which doesn't even happen which and is the equivalent of "well you smell!"
@@The-Batman Wow…struck a nerve I see. Well I absolutely loved the movie. Do I think they crammed too much into one film? Yes. But, I also have a sense of humor and can laugh at how Minty used the phrase. It was a joke and it made me laugh simple as that. Anyway, God bless you and take care friend!
The Extended Edition of this makes it a fine film. I hate that so much was cut for the theatrical release. Yes, it’s not a perfect film, but I still enjoy watching it when I come across it while channel surfing. I wish instead of titling it Batman V Superman, it was titled something like DC Trinity or Worlds Finest….DC just didn’t want to take their time and we’re seeing the effects of this today with how they’re struggling to get people to care for their films in the post Snyderverse world.
The Ultimate Edition is a great superhero conspiracy thriller. Never thought i'll say that for a Batman vs Superman movie, but here we are and i love it 😁
Thanks for doing this one, Minty. I wasn't convinced when it first came out. I actually didn't see it until a friend loaned me the DVD. And then the other heroes showing up was basically the thing that made me not hate it. I agree about it being convoluted, and it's hard to enjoy a story if it doesn't feel like it has some cohesion to it. All I got otherwise was that Bruce hated Supes. It just didn't work for me.
The director’s cut is a great movie and in some ways a masterpiece. As a Frank Miller fan, going darker, especially when considering the Dark Knight, is always a choice I will get behind. Having spoken with Snyder a number of times, it is clear his aim was true and “Zack Snyder’s Justice League,” for me, at least, proved that because it IS a masterpiece.
Words can not describe how much I amor this movie because it does make you think. The only people I know that did not like this movie where the hard core marvel fans because it was nothing like the avengers. I totally concur with Chris review on Ben as Batman but not only just Batman I amor the music in this movie and little hints of allegory used in the film to make the audience think alittle.
I think the differences between those who liked and those who hated this film can be summed up into whether or not that individual comprehends subtext.
@@The-Batman oh boy look out everybody, we've got ourselves a truly enlightened individual in the TH-cam comments here. He's cracked what we up until recently believed was the uncrackable cipher that is the deeper themes of the modern comic book movie. Truly a mind to rival the great philosopher Zack Snyder.
I enjoyed the film from the beginning, I'm a bia's comic geek. I understood the reasoning for some people dislike. But I held on one thing.... People were going to figure out later that they loved it
Big fan of this film. Extended cut is great. Feels a bit disjointed in places but the performances and effects are just great. I really enjoy the darker tone and would have liked to see the vision completed on the Snyderverse.
As this movie Luthor mentioned his father when showing off the portrait he had of the angels and demons I always took it that this was Alexander Luthor Jr. who was from Earth-Three and not Earth Prime.
The whole Snyderverse always seemed like they were trying to catch up to the MCU without taking any of the steps that were needed to get to the Crossover Films. After watching the connections between Winter Soldier and the end Agents of Shield season one as was hoping that they would use the Arrowverse as a bridge to the JLA movies
Christian bale said he wouldn't do it without Nolan and Nolans blessing. He also said he ALMOST did it because he loved the character and didn't wanna see someone else take it.... He eventually didn't so it but talk to Ben about the suit and told him to make sure they had a zipper in it so he could pee.... Which he had done
I really liked the Martha part, you can't tell me you wouldn't be surprised if the person you're about to finish a fight with says to save someone with the same name as your mother
Batman and Superman are in my top 3 superheros, so I was so very hyped for this movie, and completely crushed after seeing it. I gave it another chance at home with the directors cut and could easily spot stuff that was cut from the theatrical and noticed how the issues I had with the flow of the film were fixed with the extra content. I have grown to love it, though not as a favorite film, but I would never recommend someone watch the theatrical cut first.
@Gamer97704 The bottom line was that Warner Bros made a net profit of $105.7 million, and a respectable Cash on Cash Return of 1.18. But oh, what might have been… The studio viewed this as a disappointment, especially with fans and media.
Your comment about this film taking a simple and compelling premise and convoluting it with too many cooks in the kitchen demanding their ideas be included, is spot on. There were three or four separate good movies here, unfortunately all mashed together and not one of them getting the chance to be fleshed out.
@Gamer97704 the critics on RT are just a bunch of Woketards who can't differentiate between a good movie and woke trash. They gave 90% to Cuties, She Hulk and fresh score to Thor 4. Those movies are woke and critics love woke, Snyder isn't Woke that's why they hate him
@Gamer97704 and that means what??? Absolutely nothing. Bunch of Woke Folk and sensitive beings. This movie wasn't perfect and wasn't the best....but it was a good movie. Regardless what anybody says. After all these years,we finally got a Superman and Batman movie staring both iconic figures. That's something too be said. Back when we got that little hint in the movie I Am Legend. Those who no....yea,they no what I'm talking about it.
@Gamer97704 look, Snyder gave us with BvS a deconstruction full of layers that only required people to pay attention..... but then the haters love the Marvel quality full of jokes and wanted the same for DCEU
Ultimate Cut was not "in answer to the theatrical" ...it WAS the intended theatrical cut. WB promised Snyder they'd release that cut, but then reneged and forced further cuts, making it seem choppy and incoherent, confusing audiences. But they told him that he could release his cut on video. If Snyder's cut was the version shown in theaters, it would have hit a billion dollars. But, as with Suicide Squad and JL, the suits sabotaged the films and filmmakers.
My favorite Lex Luthor is Michael Rosenbaum in Smallville. But Jesse Eisenberg is great too, he is playing a confident Lex, but one who's maniacal like he was when he first appeared and Ain Superman: Birthright. I think many saw him and because he wasn't bald or buff it was jarring. We see his facade breaking down in the party scene and how creepy he'd get with the Senator. Each character had to start somewhere and unfortunately we never got the chance to see Lex evolve, like we did with Batman and Superman The Justice League cameos were a 2 minute scene, it wasn't a scene that stopped the flow of the film but one that just let fans know it's a bigger world out there. The Martha scene seems to be misunderstood quite a bit as it's not about the name Martha but about Batman's PTSD. The name was a trigger word, like Tony in Iron Man 3 would freak out at the thought of the events in The Avengers. Very real stuff that soldiers coming from war have to deal with and both films were unfairly criticized for it. I'm sure you're joking with the Martha jokes but you wouldn't believe how many really believe that's what stopped the fight, just the name. Doomsday was just a character meant to kill Superman, that's all the character was created for. Not sure if you read the whole Death and Return of Superman story but it wasn't like Superman and Doomsday fought across all those issues. In fact many of them had other stories where Doomsday would appear as a tease. The Doomsday here isn't even the same version as it's Zod, which was a plot line sort of used in Smallville. But it's Zods son in that show. It' was meant to showcase Lex's intelligence with having a back up plan if Batman failed to kill Superman. I felt great emotion for the death scene because of the story told. Before he sacrifices himself he smiles at Lois and says "This is my world, you're my world" harking back to the conversation he had with his father about how meeting Martha allowed him to finally forgive himself for a tragedy he caused and no longer have nightmares from it. Superman telling her that was him saying he's finally Happy, he knows who he is and is at peace with the world. This is shown further in Zack Snyder's Justice League when he helps the team with confidence and a smile. This death showed the world Superman loved them and we see how even someone wanting to kill him like Batman are now mourning. Having a 2 hour film where most of that is just Superman fighting Doomsday wouldn't have worked. A great film needs a great villain and Doomsday alone isn't that at all. It wasn't studio interference it's what Chris Terrio and Zack Snyder planned as part of a 5 film arc, just like a comic book often has 5 issues to tell one story. Lex's plan was to kill God, he hates God and Superman is the closest he has to God being real. By having Superman kill Batman, he proves that Superman isn't perfect. If Batman kills Superman, he got rid of God. In his mind Lex could control Doomsday, something we see was a misstep on his part. Lex explains this when talking with both Superman and Lois. It makes complete sense when you've paid attention. Doomsday was a Kryptonian weapon that was constantly killed over and over again so it could adapt to any form of killing possible. I do disagree with the mess comments, it's not incoherent at all. I understood it in theaters without the 30 minutes Snyder was forced to take out. There were really only 3 cooks, Zack Snyder and Chris Terrio for the most part and David Goyer early on. The delay of the film was due to reshoots, Gal Gadots training taking longer to complete and WB forcing Snyder to create a universe right away. So time was needed to get David Ayer's Suicide Squad developed and Patty Jenkins Wonder Woman (which Snyder had input on both). If you've seen Zack Snyder's Justice League I'm sure you notice how the characters have evolved from this film and that was always the plan. It just needed people to understand that and unfortunately they didn't. They complained about the studio rushing things but wanted an established goody good Superman on day one and that's not how it works. Many often cite Captain America as close to Superman and even he's flawed and shoots people and no one criticizes that. It's gotten to the point where Marvel can have buildings crashing and the heroes aren't blamed for it but DC needs to have the fights in a desert or else fans complain about people dying in buildings. Not really fair and WB have been dumb enough to listen to it
The moment I heard Affleck was cast, I thought about it for about 3 seconds and realized what a brilliant choice it was. I never understood the hate right after the announcement. I'd love to see him have another go at the character.
I was shocked when they announced his casting but never hated it.only reason i was shocked was bc he is such a big name,I was kind of expecting them to go with a lesser known like they did with Superman.but I always thought he was a good choice bc he had all the things required to be a good Batman/Bruce Wayne
The reason for the movie delay is because some unknown writer actually registered the BVS script to the Writers Guild before production began. That just a guess
I liked this movie and it's in my top 100 list of films, but I so agree with you, Minty, when you say that they crammed way too much in. And yes, Eisenberg was too much like the Riddler for my taste. I liked the second half a whole lot more than the earlier half. I also feel the fight between Batman and Superman should lasted longer. And you know what? I love both the Whedon version of Justice League And the Snyder cut. To me, both versions have something to offer in their own way. I also really like Superman 3. It's no masterpiece and it has some flaws, but you know what, I can't help but smile after putting in the DVD. Long live home media. I do not subscribe to any streaming service. Sorry for getting on a tangent and also, great review. PS. My favorite part was when Superman, Batman and Wonder Woman all fought against Doomsday. That part was so EPIC. And the most fun I had watching this film.
When Gal Gadot was announced as Wonder Woman there was a bit of fan hate as well. At the time I thought that the only way they could make Gadot work as Wonder Woman was to make her more like Xena the warrior princess (amazed no one brings up the similarity). They seemed to have done just that with the WW BvS costume design, but Gadot herself really rose beyond expectations and became an epic Wonder Wonder. I don't even think of Xena now especially since they've brightened Gadot's WW colours. I loved BvS (admittedly it's not perfect), with three iconic superheroes on screen for the first time at once, Gadot, Cavill and Affleck were outstanding. From what I could see at the time, a lot of online fanboys and so called movie critics were fanning the flames of hate for this movie for their own profit. Excellent work here as usual Minty 👍
@@m.d.s.69 Don't think so. One of Xena's producers once said in an interview that Xena was inspired by Bridgette Lin's character in the Hong Kong martial arts films "The Bride with White Hair".
@@m.d.s.69 Perhaps you should expand your horizon of reading material. Xena was conceived originally as a vicious female warlord who was on a quest to kill Hercules, Kevin Sorbo's character in "Hercules: The Legendary Journeys". She was such a popular character that she was spun off into her own series as a sort of bad girl gone good. Where exactly have you ever seen Xena's co-creators, Robert Tapert and John Schulian in their own words, credit Wonder Woman as any sort of inspiration for Xena?
I loved BvS The Directors Cut as it fills in those horrible gaps and shows Clark Kent being an actual reporter. However the Doomsday sequence was way to fast and remember telling my wife in the theatre, wow they are actually going to kill him, just wait but its finally going to happen after 20 years. Thanks for the video Minty!!!!!
One thing was perfect in this film that was zacks Batman perfect casting, the suit was correct for the comics, and looked so good the acting was superb by Ben Affleck. Zack said this isn't the real doomsday he's out there in space
I’m not a huge fan of this movie but I will admit that there are some good ideas in it. I like certain moments in the film and I was super happy to see Bruce Wayne and Diana dancing together at the big party and also sneaking around Luthor’s office. I love the common cartoon promotion of Batman being attracted to Wonder Woman and I feel that this was the closest thing to that pairing that we have gotten in live action so far. There are cool things like Jeremy irons as Alfred. Also I just like Gal Gadot in her role. I agree a lot with your analysis of the movie but there’s also some parts of it that I really like. I strongly appreciate your videos and I look forward to more discussions on the modern superhero films.
Even though I gets quite a bit of enjoyment out of the director’s cut of the movie, like the costumes, action and themes, I still appreciate the video Minty!!
That was not lex Luthor in the Snyder verse it was alexander luthor he says his father started lexcorp and said his father was lex and snyder confirmed Eisenberg was playing alexander
BvS:UE is probably my all-time favorite comic book movie. It's absolutely a superhero "epic" (in the film sense of that word), and the size and scope of it does not mean that it was a mess, it just means that there is a lot to take in and PAY ATTENTION to (key words there), but the run time gives it more than enough space to fit it all in comfortably. Not once in the half dozen times that I've watched it did I think it was confusing or a mess.
I took Jesse Isenberg's performance to be Mark Zuckerberg. He's a rich, spoiled, entitled brat in control of a huge segment of society (social media) who is ultimately emasculated by the presence of these manly gods and wants to take them down a peg or show them his superiority. It was a bold way to approach the character and not just imitate the previous iterations. We've already had the super-scientist, business tycoon, and so on. It's just like Joker. If you are going to do the character again, bring something new to it. Ledger's Joker was nothing like Nicholson's who was nothing like Romero's, but they were all great. I do agree that Doomsday was too soon, and for the same reason. The whole point of the death of Superman storyline was to see what it was like to lose such a beloved character. He was still not embraced yet. We needed a few more movies. They did need a common threat, though. The film could not have just been Batman beating Superman, then becoming friends over Martha. They needed to come together to defeat a common threat and realize how they were complementary. They just run into the Justice League problem with Superman being too overpowered. He's in JL for 5 minutes and defeats Steppenwolf immediately. And, finally. Thanks for pronouncing Gadot's name right. I know you don't get much recognition for corrections.
I just saw it 2 years ago , and loved it, i really like how dark the movie was. I loved how Batman the animated series was at first abit dark nature and realistic feel to it. This one of my favorite movies i seen. I only watched the extended directors cut in 4k. Was pure entertainment and loved how each of the characters could of had a movie of their own, and were here in 1 movie. And plenty of screen time for all. Im looking into getting the soundtrack cd of this movie.
I couldn't stand the Theatrical cut of the movie, but after seeing the Ultimate Cut with everything put back the way it was supposed to be I got hooked. There was so much story cut out of it. The studio would have made alot more money on a longer but cohesive film. I understand that the Lex in the movie was a spin on the Alexander Luther character (Lex's clone). Who was a genius but being a clone body with the originals mind in it went insane.
I don't care what people think I love this film everyone was cast perfectly I was always a huge fan of the dark night series and thought there was only one who played batman perfectly bale until Ben became batman the more I watched Ben the more I loved his take I know he's done with batman but wish he would do batman one more time for his own movie
@slake9727 since you need me to be specific when I said everyone was perfectly cast I ment batman superman and wonder women you know the main characters not the side characters I'd atchly forgotten about lex since I the actor didn't have a strong screen presence
Offtopic, Henry Cavill should be in a hell of a lot more, Star Wars, Marvel, I don't care he's a good actor, he looks absolutely amazing, he's an absolute cool person. He should be in a lot more.

And, that Bruce himself with all his twisted brutality was the one who had sank to subhuman. He sort of woke up to the fact that maybe they weren't so different.

I like how Bruce furthers this sentiment of understanding that Superman is "More human than I am." As Bruce tells Alfred in "Justice League."
I've been saying this for years. I got it as soon as I saw it and didn't understand how ignorant people were thinking them just sharing the same name was what it was about. That’s what stopped him. The music being played in this scene is also the same as the scene in which his parents died, so I think that’s the reasoning behind the scene.
It's crazy that 8 years later we are still needing to explain this scene to people screaming MARFFA!
And worse for Bruce was the fact he realized that he had become the one thing he hates, a bad guy.
IMO The warehouse scene is the only comics accurate portrayal of a Batman fight we’ve ever really seen. I love this movie for that scene alone.
That scene is 🔥🔥🔥
Batman getting ready to fight was also pretty hype.
That scene was brutal, vicious and unforgiving !!! And I LOVED every moment of it.
My FAVORITE Movie Batman fight scene as well, which made Affleck my favorite Batman right there!
I've actually always considered THIS the Snyderverse Batman movie, because you even get the quick obligatory origin scene... WHICH WAS AWESOME IN 3D!!!!

Good example of a film that gained a big following years after release
The line in the trailer that had me hooked immediately:
"Tell me, do you bleed?
*Superman lands on the street

YES! Hard core, Bats!!
Never ever been more pumped for a film after that trailer.
Shame it couldn't live up to it

Jessie Eisenberg played Luthor exactly how he plays every character… mumbling and flighty.
He was awful
@@mikeadams7904in my opinion he brought the movie down a bit. I don't think he was the right person for that part.
And aggravating!
He almost single handedly ruin this movie, but have it not been for Ben Affleck's version of Batman.

Don't care what anyone thinks, I love this movie and it will always be one of my fave movies forever

I saw Batman v. Superman in the local IMAX cinema here in the Philippines on opening day in 2016. The cinema was fully packed!
Minty, I think this was one of your best-scripted videos -- and they're all good. Thanks for what you do and keep rockin'!
This was a great movie!!! I've watched it a bunch of times and love it every time!
I actually always liked this movie. I feel that Ben Affleck was one of the best Batmans ever, Looking forward to this video, thanks.
This was a crazy movie, but Ben Affleck as Batman and Gal Gadot as Wonder Woman were fantastic. The warehouse fight being a highlight. Henry Cavill as Superman was good.
That warehouse fight was the closest we ever got to a real live action Batman experience. I’ve watched it 100x. I’ve watched the whole movie once.
Not Cavill as Superman? His Superman was always Perfect to me. Just a guy trying to help. That quiet guy in the back who stays out of the way but is the first to give you a hand when needed.

Henry Cavill IS Superman!
People don't like Superman 3?? Some people are nuts.. I LOVE Superman 3! Great upload Minty, Ty
Loved it. Still do. Too many people, perhaps, wanted a "Marvel" comic book movie, instead they got "DC."
Say what you will, that warehouse fight was bad ass!
I for one absolutely love this movie. The extended cut though

@Gamer97704 Every Batman kills people.
As a huge fan of Frank Miller's '"The Dark Knight Returns,'" I loved how this film truly captures the dark, grittiness inherent in that story. And Ben Affleck was the perfect casting choice... THE best "on screen" Batman to date, imho.
At the same time Minty, I agree 💯% that they crammed way too much into this film & were very flippant with some of the traditional characters (ie Jimmy Olsen), thus giving themselves away with what's wrong with every "franchise" movie these days:
*Hollywood has ZERO RESPECT!*
--For the characters;
--For the traditional story lines; but mostly,
*--FOR THE FANS!*
And until they get THAT back, they're going to keep having multi-billion dollar flop$ on their hands...

The Batman warehouse fight scene was EPIC!!!

Big fan of this film. Extended cut is great. Feels a bit disjointed in places but the performances and effects are just great. I really enjoy the darker tone and would have liked to see the vision completed on the Snyderverse.
I had the exact same impression of this movie in that the studio was cramming too much story into it to play catch up with the Marvel films
As this movie Luthor mentioned his father when showing off the portrait he had of the angels and demons I always took it that this was Alexander Luthor Jr. who was from Earth-Three and not Earth Prime.
I always thought it was pretty obvious that he was Alexander Junior, and that Jared Leto's Joker was a fallen Robin.

Very well done, Mark! Thoroughly enjoyed all the "fun facts" you were able to dig up.
Ultimate Cut was not "in answer to the theatrical"
...it WAS the intended theatrical cut.
Well Said.........
The BvS Ultimate Edition is one of my favorite movies.
Each character had to start somewhere and unfortunately we never got the chance to see Lex evolve, like we did with Batman and Superman
The Justice League cameos were a 2 minute scene, it wasn't a scene that stopped the flow of the film but one that just let fans know it's a bigger world out there.

Where exactly have you ever seen Xena's co-creators, Robert Tapert and John Schulian in their own words, credit Wonder Woman as any sort of inspiration for Xena?

One thing was perfect in this film that was zacks Batman perfect casting, the suit was correct for the comics, and looked so good the acting was superb by Ben Affleck. Zack said this isn't the real doomsday he's out there in space
Amazing film. The Ultimate Edition is the way to go though. Misunderstood and was a social contagion to hate upon. I love this film to pieces.
The extended cut is better than the theatrical
BvS is a CBM Masterpiece
I love this movie. (Runs away)
They should of got micheal rossenbaum back to play lex, he was amazing as lex in smallville
Couldn’t agree more,he’s the best Lex ever, hands down.

Im looking into getting the soundtrack cd of this movie.
i freakin love this film
Lex Luthor was perfectly cast? I question your judgement
@Gamer97704 He was a fallen Batman, it's literally the whole point. He was pushing the characters to their limits. I love it for that.
Like many of your videos Minty, I enjoy your coverage of Batman V Superman more so than the movie itself.
Man of Steel and Batman V Superman are two of the greatest superhero epics of all time. To hell with anyone says different
