It is originally a Swedish hymn. One of our most reknown and beloved. It is very often sung at funerals.
(Lina Sandell, who wrote this beautiful hymn, did so after witnessing her own father drown in a boat accident.)

This one is from Sweden... One of Swedens most well known hymns called ”Blott en dag, ett ögonblick i sänder”, composed in 1865 by Lina Sandell-Berg and Oscar Ahnfelt.
Translated to english by the swedish immigrant Andrew L Skoog who was an organist, choir director and sunday school superintendent in the Swedish Tabernacle in Minneapolis between 1886-1916.
