I am a Canadian Christian and a grandma. I am 82 yrs old and I remember this era very well. Yes, they called Beirut the Paris of the Mediterranean. I also know that in my late teens and then again in my late 30's we received an influx in the Toronto area of Egyptian Christians who had to escape terrible persecution. Just within the last 5 years or so a video was shown, l can't remember on which newscast a group of 20 young Egyptian Christian men who seemed to be only 20yrs old. These men were dressed in orange jumpsuits and were kneeling. Behind each one was a man with his face covered and dressed in black and holding the head of the Christian man and also with a large hunting type knife in the other. These young kneeling men were beheaded and videoed. Apparently it's out there on the Internet still. On the news they showed only the blood flowing into the Mediterranean off the shores of Libya. I remember that this happened on a beautiful sunny day. None of the young men said a word. What a terrible thing!

I felt I was holding my breath while listing to Bigitte telling her story, it is heart wrenching to hear, how they suffered - what they were going through just because of their faith. I understand that life purpose is about love & kindness, but it is hard to feel compassion for those who are evil.

@Mandy Ramirez yes, she is just one opinion, but one experienced, been there done that, understands and has researched what happened to her and her family and millions of others over time. Too bad the Muslims killed the other Christian and Catholic Lebanese citizens, along with their opinions and points of view. Same thing happened to Armenia. It was mostly a country with an agrarian society, which believed in the Eastern Orthodox Catholic faith. During the time of WW1 the muslim turks decided to "expand" their holdings, attacked Armenia, killing all adult and teen males, then force marched the women children, and elderly hundreds of miles to the Turkish slave markets to be sold into slavery. There are a number of first hand accounts of those who escaped and wrote down their experiences. I'm sure you will find them "just a few people's personal opinions" but they, like others lived the experience, lost their entire families during this tragic time, which is eerily similar to Brigitte Gabriel's experience. He alone loves you SO much that He sent His only begotten Son to earth to be the one and only God/man, God's Word come to earth, to teach by both His example and words, and to take upon Himself the punishment of all human sin to reopen to us the opportunity to go to heaven for all eternity when we die on this earth. That even tho you die here on earth, yet shall you live!! All you need to do is turn to Him, confess and regret your sins which have so wounded Him, accept Him as your Lord and Savior, follow His law, and love Him. God bless and guide you in your choice. Incidentally, Lebanon was a beautiful country, full of activity, growth, schools, businesses, etc. Now its a bombed out shell. Been that way since the 1960's or 1970's. Why hasn't it been rebuilt into their image, surely they have had sufficient time???? They have the materials!! Its because all the devil is capable of is chaos, destruction, and death!
