    8:00 I used to have my deads get stuck at the knees as well until I started pulling with a more vertical torso. It doesn't fly up from the ground anymore but at least I can lock the lift.

    Hi,
    I’ve been a coach for about ten years now and I must say good job on all of your cues. It’s great to see someone on the internet that knows what they’re talking about! I wanted to know what software you’re using to draw the arrows in real time on these videos. I’m not very good at researching things and I honestly don’t have the time to do it. If you could help me out with what you’re using I’ll look into getting it.
    Thanks,
    Matt

    This is by far the most educating lifting series on TH-cam, at least for me. Watching these videos every day to catch up. It's really educating to see others mistakes, in a good way, and then get constructive and motivating tips on how too correct them. I've taken lots of tips and cues from this. I almost always has something new to think about or try for my next session which keep my motivation for my next training session really high.
    Best series on TH-cam! Hope this series never ends. Big thanks from Sweden!
    Thumbs up to all the people for sending their videos to this channel!
    Maybe I'll have the courage to do that some day.

    Hooked grip takes time to get used to, took me a while though. As for Christians DL, strenght is not the problem wich is nice to see. For me a slight delay on the hip moving and instead getting the start of the DL with leg drive pressing the floor down might help. As for assistence exercise everything above the knees seems legit so maybe work on purely the off the ground lift part of the DL and do drop&go sets with lighter weight for that feeling.

  • @lankstadiscs

    Dylan should get a heeled lifting shoe or try a plate under the heel, also you don’t have to keep your chest up when you squat low bar. Rippertoe likes to look a spot a couple of feet out in front of his feet on the floor. You can def get away with some thoracic rounding in the low bar squat. A lifting shoe will probably fix your ankle issues.

    Christians DL doesn’t look that bad. I would say he needs to set his lats a little more before pulling which will help with keeping posture through the lift. And as for bracing, I know what you mean about having a hard time taking a breath between reps. What I do is straighten my knees and round my back like when you do “cat/cow” stretch or whatever it’s called and simultaneously take your breath in and brace as you set yourself up for your next rep. Hope this helps!

  • @lankstadiscs
    @lankstadiscs 4 ปีที่แล้ว

    I’d encourage Nick to try the following on bench. Don’t rest your butt on the bench, instead allow your butt to barely touch the bench, utilizing your leg drive to basically keep your butt from ever settling or resting on the bench, this will keep your leg drive engaged throughout. The rule is that your butt has to touch the bench, you absolutely do not have to be sitting or resting your body weight on the bench. As you get more comfortable with the leg drive you can rest more of your weight as you find your “sweet spot” but I love this cue for those who feel they are struggling to keep their lower body engaged while benching. Generally I think more of your weight should be pushed back onto your traps/depressed shoulders, and anytime you allow your lower body to settle onto the bench you are losing some of your tension and force production.

    I think Christian starts with the barbell a bit too far in front of him. I think thats what leads to the over extension at the end to bring the bar back to the body.

  • @jonathanmateas543
    @jonathanmateas543 4 ปีที่แล้ว

    put shoulders back, cuz when the shoulders are ahead of the bar, the bar has to swing out to get over the knees. and further from the body is heavier. also buy so figure 8 straps, they are easier and faster to set up with

  • @shanemalone6263
    @shanemalone6263 4 ปีที่แล้ว

    I think Christian could focus more on keeping a stable posture. His head is tilted up at the start and down at the end. Focusing on packing the neck like a double chin can help stabilize posture.

    He’s got the idea of leg drive all wrong and backwards. You gotta create tension the entire time; even before you lift the bar off the rack, you should already be driving your legs down. And as you bring the bar to your chest, you drive with your legs even harder. Tension, Tension, TENSION!

    I’m sure Bryce will find a way to critique Christians DL but to me it looks beastly. Any minor form breakdowns during the set should be expected at RPE 8-9, a little hip rising and back rounding, getting tipped a tiny bit forward, these things are natural when you push your limits in multiple sets. I do think a commenter or two re keeping a consistent head/spine position throughout the lift might be minority helpful.

  • @docbrown3218
    @docbrown3218 4 ปีที่แล้ว +2

    Christian shoulders are in front of the bar is causing some of his issues. If the shoulders were over the bar it would get him into a better pulling position. Also after the first rep you can kind of see his lower back round a tiny bit. Probably because the bar is so far out in front. This makes bracing a tad bit harder because there is a bigger lever with your hips being the hinge.
    As far as the belt and bracing. I am a bigger lifter and what helps me is feet pointing outward. Helps me save enough room for me to brace. So try adjusting your feet until something is manageable. It won’t be comfortable it just won’t suck as much. Also going back to the belt, try different positions and tightness with the belt. You might need to loosen or Tighten depending on the lift. If you rock a lever belt it will suck much worse to try a different tightness.

    • @CJHan

      You are supposed to have your scapulae over the bar, not your shoulders.

    • @docbrown3218
      @docbrown3218 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@CJHan Sorry for the oversimplification. The shoulder is a complex joint, should have specified scapula. The camera angle might be deceiving me on this as well. The angle is a little back of his body at an angle. Not a coach, just a dude giving an opinion.

  • @mye786

    I come here once a week for the thumbnails...
    Christian's lift looks solid! I think he needs to drive with his ass 'earlier' and should think about locking out 'tall' or 'up' instead of 'back' so he doesn't overextend.

  • @jarredgeis625
