    Learn how to add a basement bathroom to your existing basement with this DIY, step-by-step video. Specifically, this video will cover basement bathroom planning, permitting, and waterproofing.
    When adding a bathroom to a basement, a successful project starts with planning. It is very important to plan out the locations for all of the plumbing fixtures, walls etc. early on in the planning process. After planning out your bathroom layout, you will needed to demolish the existing basement floor slab using a jackhammer. Once the floor is open, you will need to install your basement bathroom plumbing and attach the drain line(s) to your home's existing sewer line. Finally, you will need to pour new concrete in order to fill the void in the basement slab floor.
    Overall, I am not an expert on this process and I actually hired out much of the initial below slab plumbing. This video is meant to share my knowledge gained during the basement bathroom addition process.
    This is Episode 1 in my "How to add a basement bathroom" series. In the next few videos, you will learn how to:
    - Frame Basement Bathroom Walls
    - Install Basement Bathroom Drywall
    - Install LVP Flooring in a Basement Bathroom
    - Install a drop ceiling in a Basement Bathroom
    - Much, much more!
    To complete a DIY Basement Bathroom Addition, you are going to need quite a few tools. Here are some of the most important tools to have when remodeling a basement:
    - Reciprocating Saw (for demolition): amzn.to/3YzFRnh

    Freaking finally. Someone building/renovating a bathroom and actually thinking critically about the location of plumbing, especially that the shower faucet belongs on the same side as toilet so you aren’t stepping out of the shower into the toilet

    Not true if you are the owner you can do your plumbing and electric yourself without having a license at all. Only thing you can't do is install the meter.

      I think the permits are needed if you wanted to sell the house later. If you are going to live there indefinitely, go for it.

    What was the reason for not filling in the last bit with concrete (th-cam.com/video/a4IsilS_vUM/w-d-xo.html) [6:13 timestamp when this was referenced]? Is this the Ptrap for the tub?

    • @Mark.Watson
      @Mark.Watson 10 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      If the tub isn't onsite the plumber leaves that open so adjustments can be made for the drain position. After installation, that area should be filled so termites can't get in.

    • @AndrewThronImprovements
      @AndrewThronImprovements  7 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      The plumber put in an air admittance valve - which I thought was a little questionable

    • @Gerard1to

      AAV can work, but it should be accessible so it can be serviced. You don't want it to fail, and the venting for all your bathroom is compromised. I also dont see a vent for the laundry so i dont really know whats happening there. Maybe he just took the easy way out. Then again that's probably why you paid cheap.

      I paid a plumber 2k for under slab plumbing. Overall, the bathroom cost around 5-6k in materials total!

    I was quoted $12k for cement and roughing in plumbing so… time to call a different plumber!
