This is my go to build. Ever since Coolguy reviewed the Calabans. Drop a healing nade, throw a knife and you get restoration and radiant for like 12 seconds. I also use Calus with unrelenting/incandescent. Auto/chillclip riptide and whatever legendary heavy there is.
For what solar weapons to use, perhaps exotics like Sky burners or the solar trace rifle might be good since you can almost always scorch targets. Else, weapons with incandescent will always be good for spreading scorch and getting potential ignitions
I’ve been using conditional finality (because it’s good and also does ignitions) and calus mini tool with incandescent with a build *very* similar to this one and it’s incredible
Also crafted BXR. You can get not only enhanced incandescent but you can get enhanced Demo to make it an even bigger grenade party. It compliments not only the gunpowder, Caliban builds but the Young Ahamkaras as well!
Just be sure to NOT pick up another firesprite when your restoration timer is extended (around 10 seconds or more), because it will reset the timer to 3 seconds
I just came into the comments to say this. This has been my favorite solar build for a while but I never really thought about using firesprites with it; I always run it with healing grenades since your knife is essentially a melee and grenade in one. I tried it with firesprites after watching the video, noticed this interaction where picking up a second firesprite resets your timer, and immediately switched back. Firesprite healing seems just a bit too finicky to be worth two fragment slots, when I can have basically unlimited healing grenade uptime with little effort, and there isn’t an offensive solar nade I’m dying to use.
@@j.b.1903 I know bungie won't fix this in a short term. But if they do, picking up a 2nd firesprite shouldve reset it to 10 or 12 sec based how much we have extended. So it's rewarding for generating so many firesprite.

Try it with Monte Carlo…that’s been my build for a while now. Constant melee refresh, constant increased kinetic damage and explosions everywhere. Calus mini and the cannon ball chucker in power is just so fun
I was just about to say the same thing. Even if you miss on occasion, the Monte Carlo is there to help pick up the slack, and with it being on the seasonal mod (for now), it's an easy choice.
screw monte, with the update to tommy’s next season it will scorch, there’s a fragment that grants melee energy on defeated scorch, then 1-2 punch primary shotty with pugilist for increased damage and refresh. Gamblers for unlimited grenade too…next season bouta be so fun

I REMEMBER watching that tier list and saying BRO Calibans hand is NOT C tier its so much fun and the ignitions are good in high tier stuff too i'd say A tier!!!
Caliban's has been my favourite exotic since I first had them drop for me. Nothing quite compares to blowing up an entire room full of ads with a couple knives and they look awesome to boot.
Healing grenade - Gunpowder gamble pair VERY well together. Faster uptime on a large ignition grenade plus healing on demand. Use 6 shot goldy and get a knife kill and you have almost unlimited shots. Super fun.
Mactics thank you for your build videos. They're always fun to try out different play styles. I have a new idea for a build I would like you to work around. The new Arc Auto Rifle that dropped with Season of the Deep (sprinting creates charges for auto rifle), plus Frost-33z leg armor (sprinting gives ability energy, dodging speeds up sprint) , with arc mods and generating power orbs by getting a kill after using dodge....I think they're could be a fantastic combination here...please help me find it!
my issue with this build is it falls off really quick in higher content and especially if you have teammates, as any of them can kill the target you're trying to prime to kill with the knife. At that point I much prefer ophidia spathe with skyburners oath and weighted throwing knife. You can ignite anything without a kill required (at the cost of an exotic slot but it's becoming less common to always need a heavy exotic these days)
@@virtual-adam thats why arc titan with pulse nades, void warlock with contraverse and the old starfire are so op bc their neutral game is beyond broken and you dont need kills that means the more health the enemy the more abiliies

Perhaps the most important hidden buff of Caliban's Hand is the fact that it takes shaders and glows well. Brooding red glow for the daytime and RGB for the evening.
I've recently invented some wierd shit with this exotic. I have a grenade-like melee, a usual grenade, one grenade from gunpouder gamble dynamite and one additional grenade from forerunner's catalyst. And that's not all. I have 6-shot goldy with a fragment that makes a boom from every super kill. Hands on and ashes to assets are highly recommended. Ashes to assets work with all 3 types of my grenades, so I get my super very quickly making an endless tally of explosions. I cleared a GM with this build last week and it performed very good😊
I finally got my hands on Caliban's Hand, and I gotta say: this build is fuckin' amazing. I was waiting for arm day Lost Sectors, and I finally got it on Bay of Drowned Wishes on Sunday. These builds help me enjoy D2, so thank you for making videos on them. Have a wonderful day.
Another fun fact. The grenade from gunpowder gamble counts as an ignition, so that creates interesting strategies involving fragments surrounding ignition, for example, ember of blistering, getting grenade.cooldown based on ignition kills. (I'm going to try replacing mercy and searing with blistering and use healing grenade)
I've played with the gunpowder gamble since last seasons end game. It makes it easy to take down large amount of enemies. The only thing I don't like is that you can't choose when to toss it. It'll be first to go as soon as it's ready, which may have killed me couple times.
Oh, this is basically the build i made last week when i first found Caliban. I was wondering why i didn't see this in the sandbox more often since bosskiller setups are only used in raids/dungeons (at least for me). Used it to finish the gambit marathon i did to get malfeasance.
