    It sounds sleepy/lazy. Like someone who really didn't put much effort into singing that day and there was no producer in the studio pushing them for a better performance.
    Would I have been fooled into thinking it was a human if I didn't know ahead of time? In a mix, I think I'd be fooled.
    As it stands now, I could see this being useful for filling out a choir. I don't think it's ready for lead/backing vocals yet, though, until it can carry more vocal expression. But the technology is advancing so quickly that it might be at that point in only a year or so.

    Hey Jude was the first record I bought with my pocket money back in the day. Would I listen to this "dude" singing it? Nah, I would not. I'd rather listen to Claudio himself singing it tbh. At least he's clearly human (at least I think he is 😛) and that makes a massive difference. It's all the little gasps and croaks and wheezes and little mistakes mixed in that make a vocal performance work, a bit like you can't really write out a piano part in MIDI unless your making piano house of something, you have to actually play it or it sounds flat and stale. Same with drums. You cannot make drums groove on a piano roll, you have to whack 'em in with your own hands or at least your own fingers. You need all those little errors and above all you need some personal foibles and unique characteristics of the performer to touch people hearts. This AI, anyway, struggles mightily on the personal foibles and unique characteristics front IMHO.

    If that came on the radio while I was driving down the motorway, I wouldn’t question it. Seems like I’m the minority though as we have plenty of “experts” here who claim it’s nowhere near human…funny how seeding the mind works. Would be highly amusing if you turned around and fold us that the final void actually was a human vocal recording, lol

  • @StevePhoenix
    @StevePhoenix 4 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

    To me it didn't sound natural. It sounded like it was sung in one breath, even when it was about to jump up to the higher register where you would expect an actual singer take a deep breath. It also sounded really flat (expression-wise, not pitch-wise), especially in the high register. Most people who don't know much about singing or production would be fooled, but I can't see why any serious producer would even consider this tool for lead vocal duties. I could see this being used to add more voices to a choir, but I wouldn't even use it for vocal harmonies. It just isn't expressive enough.

      Hmm, I see your point. However I've always embraced tech early. I'm 52 and I have always learned new tech before everyone else, and while most were skeptic or crytical. I was earlier than most on every new tech that was deemed scary at the time: drum machines, MIDI, computer music, samplers, digital audio, the internet, websites, youtube... which is why we're having this conversation. AI is coming wether we like it or not. I rather use it than be the victim of it.

I'm a 35-year touring musician and music technologist myself, having worked with many tech designers, over the decades: product consulting, beta-testing, and road-testing gear. Like you, I've always been out there on the bleeding edge of music tech, with great enthusiasm. However, a drum machine can't steal a human identity or their likeness. A.I. marks a distinct moral, if existential, tipping point for all humanity. Oh, it's coming alright. So, send it to explore deep space. But art, music... Really? As I said, you have the power to preserve something sacred here, to inspire the next generation of musicians to apply themselves. Any idiot will be able to use this tech in a few years. In the meantime, I suggest that we musicians champion our craft, and share something real with those who aren't so lucky. Cheers!

    You can hear that it is too clean, even if it has some refinements. Situationally speaking, I don't think it's really AI because it doesn't create anything completely independently, but the options available to polish up your own voice or use voices from the factory are cool. Developments show us how quickly everything is progressing and in a few years there will be someone sitting in the orchestra pit with a PC and listening to the big opera stars even though they are no longer there. And I personally don't like this development. The young generation, where everything always has to be faster and cooler, generates itself away...2001 odyssey in space...there it is HAL...but at the crowning end, really great work from Claudio and Lou...chapeau ( translated by google LOL)

    32 physical audio inputs, 32 midi pairs, it's been challenging but I couldn't have done it without the Arturia 16rig and two 8pre units. I have more compute power than most pro production studios on music row in Nashville. Best thing is I'm not in Nashville Tn. 😁 Somebody tell Claudio I love him.

    First great job on both this and your videos, you guys keep it fun but with great results to boot. Does it sound real, yes in terms on how modern day vocals are processed, but it does sound processed neither less. For someone who has no vocalist yea for sure. I think AI will drive live vocalist in higher demand over the years as that will be the only way to know for sure, all be it voice overs. The live vocalist will always win over AI as its part of the human experience to expel human emotion in their vocals, both in terms of expression and subconscious connection.

    I wrote my lyrics into Udio and it took 10 seconds to give me a muscle shoals sound for I've been drowning in my sleep. AI is a new chapter in Music.

    I remember like 15 years ago, Yamaha came out with their AI singer Vocaloid Hatsune Miku thing. I was amazed then, but this isn't too far from that 15 years ago. It will be really sad when no one seems to care if its a real musician or a computer.

I love your studio sessions, and your passion for music is contagious. I wish you a long life on your channel, lots of rock 'n' roll, and even more keyboards! Keep it up! 🎸🎹🎼

    As talented as you are, and as much as I appreciate you showing this tech to us…it should be stopped immediately.
    It removes the adoration of truly talented people from the music world. I have no desire to listen to “Siri” sing me a song.
