    My first alarm was an Edwards 4”Adaptabel, and because it was 120V, I could literally just attach an extension cord to the prongs in the back, and plug it in to a socket. Very simple, but very well-made. My first modern alarm was a Wheelock MT, and I agree, they are fantastic devices!

    The EST Integrity is the most frequent alarm I would always hear when fire drills would take place. I would love to have one of those one day, but I just wish it was as cool at the Wheelock MT.

    The first ever school I went to had the wheellock NS fire alarm, However they had a setting on it that had a long buzz as well as the sound of the horn, I don’t know how they did it but I’ve never heard anyone replicate it before. I kind of miss the old sound that they made because it was so unique.

    The Wheelock MT and System Sensor MASS would make as great alarms for first-time collectors since they have many tones to chose from. The MT and MASS were my first fire alarms.

    i'm from europe where when there is a fire alarm, you run from the alarm rather than the fire, because the alarms are so obnoxious and loud you just dont wanna be exposed to them. I personally like the integrity because it has a relatively low pitch sound, and the strobe is bright enough that everyone sees it

  • @firealarmfan
    @firealarmfan ปีที่แล้ว +1

    Likely gentex commander 3 fire alarm is a better pick because it gives us soo many screw options and it gives us a piece of a circuit and put it in the terminals so that way the panel wont get into trouble so that means the installers does not have to deal of the trouble on the panel

    Great video I agree with you on Simplex. Simplex isn’t friendly to anyone collector or real system in the field. Not trying to be all negative here but I really do not like them as a company their old stuff is great but their company is going downhill and has lost my whole school district as a customer. every company isn’t perfect and has issues with their products but some are a lot better with dealing with it well done video though I think it would be interesting to see a video like this on other devices such as pull stations smoke detectors maybe even panels.

    The one thing I dislike about the Wheelock Exceeder (This may sound stupid) is that bugs can get inside them. I saw once a cricket in a white Wheelock exceeder strobe
    Also I agree about Gentex. They make awsome products. They even make dimmable aircraft windows which is cool. The SHG, GMS, and GOS however has that issue of the strobe breaking off. I currently own a weatherproof commander 2 and a SHG and I will tell you the weatherproof enclosure does not feel like it will break at all. But unfortunately the backbox has 2 small crack from what I assume is over tightening.

    02:07 System Sensor actually revised the mounting bracket for all of their L-Series devices as they're much thicker, more sturdier, and also the wiring tabs are not flimsy anymore and the revised mounting brackets are in a dark blue color.
    They revised the mounting bracket because of customer feedback saying that the device would not work if it was wired correctly and would cause random NAC fault troubles on the system and the mounting bracket would break easily.
    As for the new quality rating after the mounting bracket revision I would give it a 5/5 just like the quality condition on the SpectrAlert Advance and the new total points for the L-Series is 8/10

    The Gentex Commander 3, Wheelock MT, and the Exceeder are the top three best fire alarms for collectors. You have a lot of options within these alarms. As you gave the L-series a little less, I think it should have scored a bit higher since it is multi-candela, has two tones, and easy to operate and wire up, unlike the other alarms where you don't have as much options, it is difficult to wire up, and it is a pain the way you change tones. I think the L-Series should have scored higher than the Genesis. The Genesis and the TrueAlert, I agree, there are the worst alarms for collectors.
