    I realize that this video is a year old. However it’s always good to hear and see someone’s ideas and way of doing maintenance on the rv’s.
    Thank you for sharing. You did a wonderful job explaining and showing your way.

      Like they say “take of it and it will take care of you”. This will be our 3rds trailer. I’ve been told the build date on our new one is tomorrow 3/18 and we should be able to take delivery next week.
      I’ve babied our current 2012 and she still looks amazing!

    Thank you so much for the information! I am a first time "slide out" owner and unfortunately my brother set the trailer up for me before I was around to see it done. apparently, it made a lot of noise and also seems a seal is flipped or not in place. I will be inspecting more thoroughly tomorrow now with your information and see what may need done.

      First of all congratulations on your first slide out, just remember when you're under there most of it's just common sense and so far it seems to me to be easy fixes as long as you keep up with it, good luck hope it all turns out well let me know how it turns out and thank you for commenting

    Thanks for the video. Washing off the rubber slides with a good soap especially the top seal before hand. The leaves and sticks will scratch and make burrs in the seals. Cleaning the top and side seals before closing the slides of debris will prevent problems. Thanks again

      Like I said on the video the bottom molding seems to be the one a lot of people miss it must be an out of sight out of mind thing, to be honest when I first got our RV I didn't think there was one underneath until I physically went under and took a look, hope you're doing well and I appreciate your commenting

    Excellent video. I bought both those lubes. I didn't take really good care of our last rv. I plan on changing for this one. I'm going to check all of what you mentioned, when we set up for each trip. Also, I'm going to do it when we winterize, and dewinterize our trailer. I have to install roof vent covers, stabilizer supports, a leveling gauge for the front, and a padded frame for the solar panel, for when we close it up for the season. I'm going to make that out of pool noodles.

    One thing that wasn't mentioned (and your RV may not have them) but on the inside of the slide face, the gaskets that seal the inside when the slide is out, are saggy and hang loosely along the inside face of the slide. Those need to be checked as well.
    Good video!

    My RV has been sitting a bit and is full of cobwebs, dirt, and wasp nests under the slides. Any tip on how to remove wasp nest and once removed, can I spray the underside with water to remove dirt and cobwebs before doing this maintenance? Also, I applied seal conditioner to black seals but found a white foam like material on front of slide that leaves chalky white residue. Is this normal? It looks dry and cracking. Thank you for your video. I need to do all these things.

    • @RVFieldTrip
      @RVFieldTrip  ปีที่แล้ว +2

      I personally would not spray water underneath if you use the spray that I have in the description, you can use a rag and it will clean it up just fine. Or use a damp cloth to wipe off all the dirt and cobwebs, good luck and let us know how it works out

    It boggles me that some fifth wheels have five or even SIX slides!. I can't imagine how much that saps the main power supply. Wonder if they ever set up solar panels to operate them.
    If I ever have the money, I'd get a fifth wheel with only one slide. Six would be a nightmare to deal with.

    • @RVFieldTrip
      @RVFieldTrip  5 หลายเดือนก่อน

      I couldn't imagine dealing with 6 slide outs, not just the preventative maintenance but like you mentioned the power it takes and you know eventually you're gonna have to repair one or two but in my case never 6 LOL, thank you for commenting and we hope you have a great day
