I watched your video and opened slide up and pulled rubber wiper out and noticed there was dirt buildup on the white rollers on mainly top of both sides. Sprayed wd - 40 on them and with a rag wiped the best I could . Other top side was much the same. Took a rag and wiped the track the rollers ride on both sides . Bottom white rollers had minimal buildup but cleaned also. Also , the bottom white rollers would roll freely making it easier to clean . Was surprised the bottom ones didn’t appear have much buildup nor appeared to be carrying any weight at least when slide was out. Thank You for showing me how to do this !
Very nice description! You are one of the very few that tell how that one motor drives both the top and bottom rail and how to get to the motor. Thank you!
There is also a metric screw that holds the motor in place, for chance it gets holed out and loosens it can mess the slides. Go the next biggest size and that’ll tighten it up. I use a high grade silicone that leaves no goopy film and hand wipe them tracks all the time. Also use the same seal conditioner with a broom handle and rag tied to the end of it to get the top slide seal hiding under the topper. Also do the inside seals as well. Cab door seals and basement storage seals. Everything! Even radiator hoses and hydraulic lines for the levelers.
Great information for folk like myself and my own ignorance on these things. I've been lubing exactly where you said NOT to! Now I'm going to go out and do my maintenance properly!
Great video!! I didn’t know about the 3-5 second rule, nor about the screw that releases the motif fir manually pushing it in. THANK YOU! I know it would have been difficult to do, but a close up of the shim where you lube it would have been nice. Keep up the good instructions, very much appreciated!!
So grateful to find this video of yours. I have located 2 of the 3 auto-reset boxes -- but, of course, not for the long slide that is the one that is not moving. Have you heard of any strange places they install them? So frustrated.
Very nice video! Grand Design technicians also recommend lubricating the slot about the gear tracks. There is a rectangle plastic piece, kind of like a bicycle friction brake shoe, that travels in that slot. Lubricating the slot/track allows that shoe to move more freely.
Not sure where your getting your tips from, but you over looked rollers that require lube. Across the bottom of the slide are 5-6 wide rollers that support the weight of the slide. The are on a bar and roll back and forth as the slide moves in and out. These rollers should also be lubricated. It will make the slide a lot smoother during operation.
Another release method if going into manual mode doesn't work, is to disconnect the motors from the control panel. That will disengage the locks and you can try to push the slide in. Try that before you physically release the motors from the block. Another reset is to push the switch up and release twice quickly. That can work as a test method. Great video just a couple extra tips
I noticed your Schwintek track has these marks which I recently found out is caused by the gear on the motor being installed backwards at the factory. I am not claiming to be an expert but thought you should check that out. Safe travels! :)
Great tips appreciate it. I also found and downloaded the slide components book so I always have it in my phone I’m the event of a future failure. Wanted it down loaded in case I’m out of area of cell service and I had an issue.
I was so grateful for this video to find the auto-reset boxes -- but I can only find the smaller two. Did you have problems finding yours for your large slide? I cannot locate it!!! grrrrrr
Yeah unfortunately I’m having terrible luck with schwintec slide out. First time rv owner and Iv followed all the tips and mine just kept getting stuck. Took to dealer and was told it was installed wrong from the factory. They replaced all the components and now after 5 uses it’s failed exactly the same way. You have three?? I’m terrified of my only one now and am almost scared to use it. It’s now back at the dealer 2 weeks outside warranty and they’ll let me know what failed this time. If this is how a slide out is going to be, makes you wonder if they’re worth it.
I hear you, This one has been giving me trouble since I bought it and I got the same answer it was installed improperly. So everything has been replaced and now it's doing it all over again. I've come to the conclusion that the slide room opening itself is not square and is causing the slide motors to go out of sync after a few in's and out's. So now I'm exploring the option of shimming the rollers on the bottom to align the slide correctly in the opening. Keep you posted on what happens
Check into vroom engineering in Tucson AZ. They will redo that Schwinn Tech with a new system they have and it will be beautiful after that but it's about $3,000 a slide but it's worth it. Most people just redo the big slide schwintech can handle the smaller slides with not much problem
Ours has jammed up on the outside..we've push it back in..thinking that the motor would kick back in..now we cant get it to slide out..only one motor works..
Thank you for your video and all the time you took to post it! I have an RPod that is one year old. the slide is buckling when going in/out. What if your method of timing the motors does not work? It seems to buckle on the opposite corner from the motor (lower or bottom corner of slide)... mostly on the rear (aft) portion of the slideout.
Sounds like it is out of alignment. My suggestion would be to disengage the motor and adjust that corner slightly to better align. You will likely need a friend to help as the slides are heavy. Let me know how that works out.
Can a person hold the slide button in for the 3 seconds sometimes even when not having a problem to prevent problems? Can you speak on flipping the seals out when they do not properly come back in place when the slide is retracted. Thanks for all this information on this video,
Your welcome. If your seals are not fliping correctly, this means they are drying out. Please the conditioner I talk about in the video. Thanks for the comments....
Can you tell me if the slider seal/gasket across the top of the slide out should be folding under when the slide in drawn in? Or should it be staying out and laying flat as the slide comes in? Thanks
not really, the column is in the way on the inside. Plus the screw to release the motor is on the outside as well. You can unplug the motor from the inside, but removing it or releasing it can only be accessed from the outside.
I have a question. I finally got my slide all the way out, could I release the gear to push it back in, then put the screw back in and then do the reset? Very informative video. Thanks.
Yes to the first part, if you disengage the gears by removing the screw and lifting the gear up on both sides, You should be able to slide the slide in. As to then sliding the gears back in place and putting the screw back in, you will have to reset the controller to do a resync. But not sure if this will solve your original issue as I'm don't have enough information on your issue.
Thanks for this video. I've heard nothing but horror stories about Schwintek slides and always told myself to avoid them but now I have the chance to get a 3 year old ORV with this slide, should I pass on this (great) deal? One comment here says these slides are more prone to leaks? Thx and Merry Christmas.
If you keep the seals treated, they don't leak... If it's a good deal, get it, but get a professional inspection first. That will tell you if its a good deal or not.
They tend to be a bit challenging to remove. My suggestion would be to use a longer screw driver to pry the motor higher to clear the gear. My guess your not going high enough to make the clearance.
I have a 2020 Jayco Eagle HT 280RSOK. Kitchen side uses Schwintek. It seems like one of the motors is weak. I must have watched a hundred videos to determine what the problem is. There is no gouging on the bottom. All the wear patterns on the bottom rollers look uniform. The rear most motor doesn't seem to have any problem. Slide will extend relatively smoothly. It's when we go to retract it, the front will just stop. If I put my shoulder into the slide while my wife works the controls, I can get it to retract. Do these motors get weak? Suggestions??
They don't really get weak, but the brushes can wear out. Meaning one of them may stop driving the motor. It could also be there is a obstruction or misalignment in the one area of the track that is holding things up a bit. Finally it might be out of sync slightly. Sadly there are many factors that can cause hangups like you described. Try to go through all the steps to isolate the issue. I would first start with resyncing the motors. Then if that doesn't solve it, start to inspect the tracks, especially where the hangup seems to be. Don't forget to also check to ensure the rivets on the columns are still intact. When you start with going through the basics, you can usually find the issue. But for a 2020 it is unlikely the motor has gone bad. Hope this helps John, if not feel free to email me directly at mybucketlistday@gmail.com and we can talk through how to find the issue.
i have watched many of these repairs video on the schwintek slides and everyone talks about the control module and motor one and motor two and the location of the module But no one tells you witch motor is number one or number two If i get a code stating motor one is at fault Ok now where is number one

I have a schwintek system on my 2016 rv. 12ft wide slide out. I have removed my slide out for floor repairs. So I have seen this system up close and personal. And it's a big POS!!!!! Made from the get go to fail. Mine was installed at the factory by monkeys. With the system being junk in the 1st place. And then also being installed by complete fools. I stand no chance. I made my repairs and repaired the slide out to work as best as I can. But, it can't be properly installed correctly with out thousands and thousands of dollars being spent on the rv. I have done my best. And it's a half ass job at best. The problem is not visible and the issues only pop up every so often. So pray you don't buy it when I trade it in. As this was done to me. The main floor of the rv was replaced by me with top notch work done. The slide out caused the leak. Now I replaced the bad section with high grade lumber and everything was waterproofed to the core. To help prevent the floor from rotting out again. But this slide out system can not be stopped from leaking. If you have this system on your rv. And it's not leaking now. Just give it a minute it will. And by the time you notice it. It's 4 to 5k out of your pocket. Or you can repair it yourself. Don't try insurance. They will turn your claim down. So grateful to find this video of yours. I have located 2 of the 3 auto-reset boxes -- but, of course, not for the long slide that is the one that is not moving. Have you heard of any strange places they install them? So frustrated.
Is the long slide electric or hydraulic?
Outstanding video, many thanks.

Very helpful video, Thanks
Very nice video! Grand Design technicians also recommend lubricating the slot about the gear tracks. There is a rectangle plastic piece, kind of like a bicycle friction brake shoe, that travels in that slot. Lubricating the slot/track allows that shoe to move more freely.
You are correct, I guess I should have pointed that out better. Also putting a graphite silicone spray on the track I found to be beneficial.
Hey Bill, my rollers are ceramic and do not require lube. The manufacture also says not to lube them.
I lube them with WD-40 silicone. No more slide stuck closed. Use Silicone or Teflon.

I need to try this, Several service folks said that will not work, but RV folks said that it does work. So I need to try myself...
@@MyBucketListDay please try it. It may only work with the newer lippert system but it is part of their video series

If you remove the power at the control box, that releases the brake and you can push in the slide.
