It is right that Kalmuks are the Oyrat Mongols but their name is Turkish. They helped Russians in fighting against to some Turkish people like Kazakhs. Some of them couldn't return back to Mongolia, Russians settled them in present day Kalmukia, north-east coast line of Khazar Sea (caspian).Then Turks called them "Kalmuk = Kalmak" which means "remained" in Turkish.

It is not Turkic language family. Mongolic language is from Altaic language family. Mongolic and Turkic languages are both descendants of Altaic language family.

It is right that Kalmuks are the Oyrat Mongols but their name is Turkish. They helped Russians in fighting against to some Turkish people like Kazakhs. Some of them couldn't return back to Mongolia, Russians
settled them in present day Kalmukia, north-east coast line of Khazar Sea (caspian).Then Turks called them "Kalmuk = Kalmak" which means "remained" in Turkish.
