You ought to get the trade platform and use a shredder in combination to help with running out of materials. Maybe even something like the old soil train.
What is great for bytes are the pumpkins. Three research chambers can pump out 800 bytes per minute, with squash samples. Every now and then, I harvest my huge field, put all the squash samples on several medium storages and let my auto arms feed the research chambers. I have more bytes than I will ever need.
im watching this series so late but z, if you read this, you got me back into astroneer and its made my quarantine so much better. and you taught me enough to where i am thriving and i have so much more to do. thanks for the good times :D

I love the rover too, but if you put a second or third car with tons of storage, its so hard to drive. Would want them to make it first person camera when driving.
I can manage a two car large rover, but you could also throw another large storage or a shredder or something like that on the back of a single rover. You'd have to pop it off to use the power port, but might be worthwhile. Can't say scrap seems much worth bothering with these days, though. Every once in a while it will save you a mining trip for something like titanium, but to actually roam around grinding scrap is too much of a timesink.
I'm totally down for tether hats.
Also, does anyone else remember back when oxygen spires were an important collectable resource? The blue stacks. I loved them so much. So much nostalgia! Why were they removed! I used to love carrying around solid stacks of non-solid life-gas. I'm gonna make a mod for Astroneer that makes Oxygen a harvestable resource found in caves. It won't mess with the new oxygen system, but will stimulate and give pleasure to my stubborn nostalgia oriented gaymer brain.
Edit: My mod will reintroduce Oxygen Nuggets and Energy Nuggets, why? Because 1, they're both still in the game's code. And 2, because I want them. Is there a better reason?

You know you can click the E/ F/USE, the on/off button, an upgrade on yours; "Loader". (Including drills. On your; "Tool" - "trade"). Read the patch note for more information. (They've leaked them on Steam now. If you haven't seen or read it). Z1!=).

The way to get true flat is spamming the flatten tool and it goes towards the nearest surface.

It's probably a long shot, but, have you tried true flat with a narrow mod?
idea you could add some trailers with rtgs or batteries to the rover
You should try using the narrow mod and see if you can get true flat using that in survival. You might have more control.
If you want to get more ammonium pretty easily, designate an extra large platform C and put a crane, some storage, a power source and an oxygenatoratoratoratorator on it. Take the platform w/ you and dig up all the stuff you find. Its bery easy 2 do but it works very well.
You could put trailers on the rover to make it even better

The game is divided into half voxels. To get true flat you need something exactly 1 voxel tall. Not 1.1, not 0.9, but 1. That's why it's so hard to get
Because there is no elevation above or below the flatness never changes

I started a new game about a week ago & I've been getting stuck on nothing CONSTANTLY, including dying twice.
@Jimmy Owens Both of the times I died my character was stuck in that animation where the arms & legs are in the flailing/drowning motion. Also, both times I was connected to a tether, so yeah, the only thing that seemed to cause the death was being stuck on an invisible pixel. :/

(the hats would appear on top of the cockpit. If a mod then perhaps the hat would act as a slot of extra storage?)

What about using the narrow mode to get true flat? Although they should just give us the option to get true flat without wasting 8 hours.
Z there is away to get ture flat but you're not going to like it its tuff pain in the back side but if can get ture flat its at the gateway you have start in the middle of the gateway to alignment tool but even then it's tricky to do it its just easier to use alignment tool to pave out almost flat area that's about as good as it can get so don't stress over it not worth the time to do it just give a headaches lol

In 2020 everything has way better crafting materials. ex. Extra Large Platform C = 2 resin and 2 iron
You pass up so many research items, you can do the stars and the small boxes too..! Also if you try and stash a large research item, you just hold it and then can run too..! I don't know if you knew this, but you tend not to do it or collect the items..!
Lee Nicholson I’m pretty sure when he doesn’t hold the larger research items, and sort of slingshots them ahead of him, it’s so that he isn’t slowed down, and can stay sprinting

Personally I trade scrap for graphite when I don't happen to run into any because the exchange rate is cheap. It can be found on any planet, and if you have a lot of soil, you can get it from the soil centrifuge.

Dumb question, how do I tether my oxygen balloons to the Oxygenator?
Set the oxygenator on a platform and use tethers outwards from the platform. They auto connect to the platform with the oxygenator along with all other platforms connected to that platform

At least to me without true flat I find it is redundant to base build on other planets. Unless of course there is an achievement for it which I'm not aware of?
There are achievements to visit each planet. Not necessarily to put a base on each one. That's more of a personal achievement

I stopped playing after completing all achievements. Waiting for a big update that changes the game to start a fresh save. They still haven't removed the Project CHEER toys??? I thought the event only lasted until the 17th. Any updates on the total number it is now?
The toys are still there but the mission is over. You can keep them for décor or scrap.
