@@MisterZealot True, it very well could be a programming nightmare. Especially getting the angles to snap to the voxel grid while still being true flat.
Theyd probably have to recreate the voxel grid to be spherical, that alone would probably increase file size and cpu usage. Idk though I know fucc all about game design 😆
Speaking of TRUE level THAT is what I want more than true flat. Nothing worse thank building a nice base, road, etc only to find that the further you go the train raises or lowers or worse yet is at an angle. Even with the terrain tools it's hard to get TRUE level.
I did see the stream on this and they said it attaches to any surface so I think ceilings could work, they did this Escher like monument using just this tool and there was many angles used with it.
I KNOW EXACTLY WHAT YOU MEAN. I play with my brother and it crashes soooo much and we have to save every 3 minutes it feels like because we don't want to lose too much progress and the amount of time it takes to load up as well its just Soo annoying to deal with
Now that's a reasonable time for a video in a gameplay series that doesn't have any actual gameplay in it, that "True Flat Is BACK" video was so long it genuinely hurt as it had not even an ounce of actual gameplay in it from the series.
I don't mind having it, but I think you should be have enough backpack canisters on you(character) to use it! Also, it should be able to do it by taking soil, & still getting true flat that way! Like the medium soil canisters having 2 options(taking soil out, & putting soil in)! But, again, you need enough backpack canisters that can hold all that soil! I think 1 use (either option) should equal 1 backpack canister! But, use of drill mods should be helpful when using it on harder soils! Otherwise, you get double soil in 1 use! I just feel that having drill mods should be a part of using it! Especially when it comes to harder soils! Also, drill mods 1-2 (terrain tool & rover drill mods) should break if used for too long on very hard soils! The 1st 2 drill mods are easy to replace anyways! If this really is going to be put in the game! That's just how I feel about it!
Resources to make and soil to use Or something that is made in the centrifuge as a single use item to create a true flat starting point that folk could work off with the current tool options.
What If they made base platforms like those from subnautica and you can place all the other platforms on top of them and use the base platforms to make the base bigger? That way we won't have to deal with true flat
This is the game that made me switch to pc instead of console because I played on pc for the early access alpha and tried to play on console and pc makes it so much easier and quicker

Hadn't seen this yet. After how close you and Joe were on your live stream the other day I'd think you have an in with him to ask for it to be in survival mode. That would be so awesome. My shaky old hands can't come close to a level surface
* IF * this gets to survival mode for consoles, I might start playing Astroneer again. Otherwise, it's just another title in the long list of games I've finished. (Sure it was a good game, but replayability is low once you've already done everything.)
