I just took delivery of my Model Y in Canberra. The car was brought up to me in a dark carpark making it very hard to see anything. The car was obviously blocking the way for other owners to inspect their cars as well. They told me I had 7 days to report any issues by lodging a service report. I noticed that the rear driver's side door wasn't aligned properly so had to put in a service report. I was given two keycards and didn't get anything else. I felt it was a bad experience compared to when I got my Model 3 which was delivered to my house during Covid lockdown! They had scheduled multiple other people to collect their cars at the same time and there was a real pressure to either take the car and drive off allowing others to get theirs.
I’m sorry to hear you didn’t have a good experience. I’m hoping when Tesla Australia perform their internal review, they will watch my video to see how smoothly our delivery process ran in Alexandria, Sydney and hopefully try to emulate it across the other centres in Australia!
@@LudicrousFeed didn’t measure it specifically. I heard people say if it is larger than 3.5mm you can ask for a repair or replacement for certain part. I also had the carpet of the back of my rear seat wear and tear on the day of delivery. The Tesla guy came and examined saying you can ask for a replacement. But I just feel it is a new car so better to keep it as what it is unless it is a major fault. Anyway, it is a Tesla, so when you see those imperfections, you should be happy as you got the genuine one. 😅
I test drove a Blue Tesla Model Y today and had to place an order on a rear wheel drive. It drove way better and faster than I expected. Also the Tesla salesman said the prices went up recently in the U.K so is possible they will rise here too so I didn't want to wait. Just requested a novated lease estimate based on the new EV legislation. Can't wait til it arrives next year!
You one of the few ppl I would also surprisingly trust driving my new EV i must say. Can’t wait when they start implementing wireless charging = EV Gen 2.
Tom, Thanks to a recent visit to Tesla Chatswood to fix a squeak in the front of my Tesla M3 (2019) they informed me that they had installed fog lamps for free! I didn't know that fog lamps were standard fare so was surprised and on arriving home I tried testing the fog lamps - without success. It transpired that the car must be in "drive mode" for the fog lamps to activate. So, another item to be added to the Tesla Inspection Ckecklist!
Tom, can you do video on how the parking sensor works for the front and back, how does it work compared to normal car please? Does it beep for both front and back, the corner... I ordered one and new to Tesla car. Thanks
Tom, I am in similar situation that I want my sister to take delivery. Where can I find out more about Letter of Authority that I can sign for her to do the pick up? Can you tell me the process please, cos I cannot find it anywhere on the internet?
It doesn’t have to be official. As long as it includes words to the effect that I hereby give authority to person X to take delivery of my vehicle and give some identifying details.
Mr Tesla Tom, Tom between friends, Please put us out of our collective sadness and film an epic video of epic electric proportions of your own delivery of the boss's Model Y. It's taking a toll waiting. Cheers Distressed Fan.
I’m always excited and happy to see a non-white Tesla 😋 - thanks for sharing the experience, go #TeamBlue! Can’t wait for the MYP’s to be built #TeamSilver
Tom, do you have any insight into whether Model Y Performance vehicles that get delivered from now on will actually have the parcel shelf? I ordered mine in June and hope for delivery Nov-Feb.
I test drove the model y recently and found it steered to the left 🙃 when my hand were off. Possible wheel alignment issue or steering alignment. Im not sure which. Anyone else notice this 🤔 Something else I think people short check when getting delivery.
It seems strange that a car sitting in delivery for a day or so cannot be Fully Charged before the owner picks it up. Surely each car could be hooked up to a charger when it arrives at the warehouse!
why does it need you as a customer (or behalf) to have a such detailed check before delivery? We suppose to just drive away in Australia. And they have warranty for any build quality issues.
These checks aren’t compulsory - I do these videos to help those who want to be thorough to do so. You’re always welcome to drive away after you sign on the dotted line 👍
Why Tom do you dive in the right lane when the left lane is empty? All it does is force emergency and other vehicles to weave between cars using the left and right lanes. It's quite simple, Keep Left Unless Overtaking!
@@LudicrousFeed Agreed. But looking at those fsd beta testing videos, even when fsd is activated, the fsd software does not use the far right lane when it's vacant. At least that's only a software fix. Thanks again for your content. It's very much appreciated. 🙂
I admire the Tesla brand in general but doing a very thorough check like this before you drive out seems a bit annoying. For their price tag you would assume everything is perfect. Thanks for this video guys.
You should do a thorough check whether it's a Tesla or any other vehicle really. Once you leave the lot, even for a Mercedes or BMW, they are likely to blame it on the new owner. And if you've never owned an exotic before, such as a McLaren or Lotus, you'd be shocked to know that the fit and finish is not always the best there either.
@@LudicrousFeed Does a Tesla staff do the check with you as well prior or they just expect you to do the check on your own and call them if you see anything you don't like?
There are many staff on standby to help answer any questions you may have about your vehicle. They can be as hands on as you allow them to be or more hands off if you know what you’re looking for in your inspection. It’s totally up to you as the customer!
It’s interesting that consumers have accepted that a check like this is the norm when taking delivery of what is essentially a premium car. I do like Tesla and I hope in the future, these checks will no longer be necessary.
So many Y's on the road now… really ugly design, the rear looks like a fat duck bum up in the air…. the Model 3 by comparison is looking so much more svelte now in comparison. Now they just need a Model ? that is larger and looks good like an A7 and has lift back. Like a Model 3 design language in a model S body?
Thank you for supporting Ludicrous Feed!
I wish I had a Tesla Model Y - and a friend like Tom and Joy to babysit it for me if I ever go away :)

That is one thorough inspection checklist you have there sir.
Thanks!
Great video Tom, thanks for sharing the inspection checklist - will be using this - Delivery Day of MY tomorrow !!
Enjoy the big day!
Great video thanks. These steps have really helped me to know what to look out for
Thanks for the detailed Model Y delivery walkthrough, Tom! Look forward to catching up when visiting NSW in the future.
👍🙏
I am planning to buy a Model Y , your video is very useful and thorough. I really appreciate that. Thank you, Tom !
Pleasure!
Excellent inspection, thanks for sharing.
Pleasure 😃
Hi Tom, I picked up my Model 3 yesterday and used your checklist, thanks 👍🏻
Congrats!
Congrats Tom. I got my last week. The gaps between panels are really huge!!! Other than that, pretty happy with it.
Congrats! Are your gaps consistently greater than 4mm?
@@LudicrousFeed didn’t measure it specifically. I heard people say if it is larger than 3.5mm you can ask for a repair or replacement for certain part. My understanding is that 4mm is the industry standard (happy to be corrected) and consistency is the key
Where’s Ross in the comments? Haha. I pick mine up today in Alexandria too. Was hoping for a 100% charge
Congrats!!
Ross is enjoying his holidays 🗺

Thanks so much Tom, in 26:02 is auto steer included by default or part of the 5K EAP or 10k Autopilot subscription?
Autosteer is included with all new Model 3/Y (2022)
So good to feel the 'joy' of collecting a new Model Y or any Tesla!
Never gets old!
Brilliant Tom , nicest bloke on You Tube.
Aww ❤️
Well said. I learned a lot from watching Tom's videos. We are waiting to get our Red MY RWD. Thanks Tom.
This is the exact Tesla I plan to buy in the future, model Y metallic blue. One day I will own one of my own.
🤩
Tomo, love your vids mate, very informative. What colour MYP did you go with??
Thanks! Blue 🚙

Ok wow that’s nice! That’s for SR+?

Nothing ordinary about it at all 🤩

Ok good suggestion 👍
Hi Tom. When was this Model Y first ordered by Ross?
Awesome video my brother..legend
🙏
Great video! Any idea why we aren’t getting the parcel shelf and if/when we will be getting it?
Hmm I’ll see whether the performance variants are supplied with it later in 2022
😁Tom, how are you this sunny morning in Goonellabah on North Coast NSW?
Feeling great!

Hi Tom, when are you expecting to receive your Performance?
That’s what the Tesla reps at Alexandria asked me also! 😂
This was a perfect opportunity to use the tesla profiles to import all your data from the cloud.
Will try it once the software update takes place 👍

Dear distressed fan,
I too am patiently waiting! But you and everyone on this channel will be the first to know ❤️🙏
Won't it be the same as this delivery though?
Just wondering what you think of the Metalic Blue paintwork from Shanghai? Any issues?

Great video LF. Just wondering was that a piece of dust on top of the airbag or a chipped surface?
Time stamp?
@@LudicrousFeed 16:20 onwards
Just checked - dust
wow, looks very tidy, has more space in the front boot and the back boot compared to Atto 3.
However this is $77,600 drive away.
Do we feel the price premium of the Y represents good value when compared to other EVs in this segment with a lower price?
@@LudicrousFeed I would love to have this car but i cannot pay $27,600 extra compared to Atto 3.
Have to get the cheaper option :)
Elon Musk loves to delete parts, he should delete model 3 and make this priced lower.this ain't SUV as Tesla reps say.
It has Matrix LED lights? Are you sure? But it‘s new, right?
Confirmed by Tesla reps in my previous 2022 Y delivery vids

Tom, am l right in guessing the China Model Y does NOT have giga front and rear castings?
Rear casting only I believe (2022)

If that’s an issue then it can be logged post delivery - Tesla will examine and correct if needed
It seems strange that a car sitting in delivery for a day or so cannot be Fully Charged before the owner picks it up.
