Hi Stikker fam!!! Couple things for ya... First, we did react to the Breaking Bad trailer and it will be up later today so yo don't need to ask about it. Second, with Stranger Things done, we will be doing more Better Call Saul episodes a week, just not right away... The schedule for the remainder of the year is pretty much set and we will catch up before the end of the year. We'll have a better update posted in video form this week.
Thanks guys. I love all your reactions but look forward to BCS the most. It's been great re-watching the show with both of you and rediscovering how good it is. Cheers for all your hard work guys. :)
I know... it is AMAZING how the writers are able to show different sides to the same character. When we meet Crazy 8 in BrBad, he is NOT like this at all. Here he seems to be the softer gentler guy Walt encounters in the basement when they have their talk. In it he tells Walt, "this line of work doesn't suit you". The scene here in BCS shows how he had to evolve in order to be successful in the drug game. AWESOME stuff.
@@randallewebb yeah the writers did an amazing job, I was impressed to see how he was so different before to become CRAZY 8 it's really genius to have done this job because you can see how drugs deal can change a person...
RIP Mike, still pissed Walt killed him yet again Walt was the biggest villain there ever was considering he killed off pretty much everyone but the neo-nazis (not at least till the very end of his story but in a way the neo-nazis had the biggest W over Walt with how much money they got from him
After rewatching this show a few times, I realized that Chuck is just redirecting his self-hatred toward Jimmy. “You’re like an alcohlic that refuses to admit he’s got a problem”. This is a great representation of the way Chuck acts throughout the show
But they didn't catch that, they were too worried blaming Jimmy for everything. He is to blame for a lot, but they fail to understand why he's like that. It's like their main focus is to blame one specific character, failing to see the bigger picture. They have tunnel vision. They were so biased towards some characters on these reactions it hurts. Same on BB reactions.
I liked how it was implied that Mike was a marine corps sniper in Vietnam just from his intimate knowledge of the M40. And the fact he's so accustomed to being careful not to get caught as well as his experience in the police force he knows that killing Tuco wasn't a good idea. I've come to appreciate Jonathan Banks more through re-watching the series with your reactions.
Now you see why in BB they say that Tuco just got out of jail! And yes, that is Krazy 8 sitting across from Tuco. He's even wearing a Tampico shirt and driving the company vehicle. That was the furniture company he was telling Walter about, it was his father's business that he worked for. The Easter eggs in this show are incredible! 🥊🌮🤫
Domingo is Krazy-8! Also he is wearing his family business' Tampico Furniture t-shirt. When he is held captive (going to be held captive?), he explains to Walt that he used to work for Tampico and Walt says he purchased his baby crib from Tampico. And they sing the Tampico ad tune.
You didn’t include in the video, but the important line is... “You see that’s your problem, thinking the ends justifies the means, and you are forever shocked when it blows up in your face”
@@saileshnaidu8102And the results are that when he goes behind their backs, they look incompetent in front of their clients. As they said, "it's not Sandpiper that keeps the lights on"
We are far off Breaking Bad at this moment. Breaking Bad starts in around 2008. Better Call Saul starts in 2002. Also, just for clarity, the Gene storyline takes place within the 6 months that Walt left to live at that shack in the snow.
who else is excited for the movie? btw Mike could ended have half of BB season 2 from happening, had he agreed to shoot Tuco lol and was kinda shocked you guys didn't recognize Krazy 8. 😅
It's understandable that they didn't recognise Krazy-8. He wasn't in Breaking Bad for long and they haven't seen him for 9 months. Max Arciniega who plays him also did a very good job of making himself appear younger just from acting that way. I remember from the podcast that there was very little to no makeup involved. Quite amazing when you think this was filmed 8 years after his short stint in Breaking Bad.
Jimmy isn't a "consultant", he actually works at Davis & Main as an Associate. He has the same job Kim has at HHM. Partner-track just means that he has the opportunity to become a partner after 3-5 years.
🥊🌮🤫 I cringe every time Jimmy does something wrong. He's extremely likeable so it's tough watching him get in his own way and it's pretty tragic knowing he eventually becomes Saul since Saul (while hilarious and just as lovable as a character) is nothing like what Jimmy set out to be as a lawyer. He also seems to be totally alone in Breaking Bad except for the people he works with
After seeing all of Breaking Bad and Better Call Saul more than once. (obviously Im a big big fan). I just love watching this series with you two. Its obvious that you really enjoy the show and I love following your journey. Great takes on the BB, I was most impressed with your breakdowns, and love that you are seeing this spin-off for what its 'really worth'. Lots of BB fans didnt appreciate what is happening with BCS, but you do. Thanks for dropping some science YO!
a couple things u guys missed... 1. tuco beating up mike was how tuco got sent to prison. when we first see him in breaking bad, he basically jus got out of prison and was in the joint wit skinny pete. 2. the dude that was wit tuco in the restaurant counting his money was krazy-8, the first man walter white will kill in season 1 of breaking bad
BIG ZERO he wears the same boxing gloves necklace in BB....but if Mike gets it, then is it a new chain from BB or does Mike gives it to Nacho and then Nacho gives it to Tuco when he comes out of prison??its just a guess!!
This episode is one of the best examples of how Better Call Saul excels as one of the best prequels of all prequels in film/tv. Even with the audience knowing Tuco will survive, we still become invested in how Mike's plan is going to work. Even though we anticipate that Jimmy is going to become a "criminal lawyer" we root for him not to because so much is at stake. Also, the Breaking Bad cameos/references aren't forced in and are handled naturally when the the story dictates. This show is a masterful piece of work.
Can you explain that? How is fucking over your brother the right thing? If anything, Chuck is doing the wrongs things for the right reasons. At least part of his motivation is trying to do what's best for the world, but he does bad things, like fucking over his brother. He's not doing good things for bad reasons. He's doing bad things for meh reasons. At least that's the way it seems to me?
@@Erikaaaaaaaaaaaaa Chuck is a good lawyer, I doubt anyone can dispute that fact, but Chuck is a complete narcissistic asshole. If you had a brother like Jimmy, sure you would lose trust in them and maybe hate them, but when they actively start to turn their life around and try to change their life for the better (i.e. passing the fucking bar and becoming a god damn lawyer for god sakes, especially from what they used to be) wouldn't you be supportive? Knowing the brother or sister that you once knew as a con man/woman is gone and they are turning over a new leaf? Trying to change their ways and become a new person? I know I would be proud and would do anything to help them, but Chuck is different, his respect for the law is impeding his relationship with Jimmy because he can't let go of Jimmy's past because through his eyes as a lawyer, a man of the law, he still see's the same man regardless of the changes that he's made. And in my mind that's a complete asshole and unjustified reason for not supporting him. Why? If he's trying to change, what's so bad about that? And if he want's to become a lawyer because he's always seen you as the role model, wouldn't you be proud? Knowing that you made a difference in your brother/sister's life just by being there? And on top of that, I would like to strangle those who say people can't change. People can change, that's a fact, it's the discipline and intentions that need to be kept in check. As long as you want to change and you have the discipline to change whatever it is that needs to be changed, then it can be changed, you just need to hold yourself to it.
@JEFFREY ADLER Chuck was fucking Jimmy over years before the Billboard Stunt. The only reason Jimmy resorted to that stunt in the first place is because Chuck prevented him from being successful as a lawyer. It's like stopping someone from making money in any way and then acting disgusted when they resort to stealing.
LOL that was a brutal episode for sure hehe. Mike is one of the best at calculating the right move before taking the first steps toward that move. He's definitely 'the guy' you want in your corner when shit hits the fan. Peace
"You're like an alcoholic who refuses to admit he has a problem" .. just like you have a mental health condition .. that potentially is even more dangerous Chuck!
I still remember how shocked i was, upon first seeing this episode, how beat up Mike was. Especially since we've seen how slick he is in a fight; I figured you'd be able to get one punch in, maybe two, if you're lucky. That was why I figured something must have happened to make him look like he survived against a boxer. It was great seeing the outcome, especially as it was happening rather than it being explained first and then showcased, but it still hurt seeing him beat up.
I love this show, I love your reactions 🥊 🌮 🤫 Mike's story is very good, but Jimmy's story is the best, pay attention, it's deeper than you think, for example: Did you know that Chuck's "condition" Is it directly related to Slippin Jimmy? Every time that Slippin Jimmy does something, Chuck's condition gets worse.
Yea! and jimmy even states it. When jimmy slips it really hurts chuck and Jimmy brought it up once but he denied it. The thing is Chuck needs psychiatric help but he refuses to believe and Jimmies best decision would have been to intern chuck to get the help he needs. Instead he enabled him now this rift between these brothers whom clearly love each other but are unable to see eye to eye cause all these issues.
"We just want him to succeed... I mean we know he doesn't, BUT -" This show is incredible because you know where it leads but you still can't help loving Jimmy and wishing for things to be different... that he doesn't become the title character
🥊🌮🤫 FINALLY I’m caught up, binged through all your Breaking Bad episodes and now Better Call Saul. At this point in the series, I really felt like I was in the gutter with Jimmy, it feels like its one step forward five steps back with him. I worked in a big law firm and still am in the legal field and the one thing this show absolutely nails is how law firms image is so important and that the culture within the firm is 100% military. Decisions come from the “top down”, nothing happens at a lower level unless its approved up the line. They portray that so well in this series. Great series guys keep up the great work.
I forgot how far Mike went not to pull that trigger in this episode. Really cements the tragedy of the first time he pulls his trigger on a person after this moment. And why he reacts the way he reacts.
The cold open with Mike's face beat up brings to mind the Season 4 episode of Breaking Bad when we see Walt with broken glasses and bleeding from a fight with Jesse.
The one giving money to Tuco was none other than Krazy 8. Nice little cameo. Also Mike's comments when inspecting that last rifle imply that he's a Vietnam war veteran, which would explain a good amount of his combat prowess. It might also explain one of the reasons he's so reluctant to kill right now, with the exception of the 2 police officers he killed out of revenge.
This show is as nearly as riveting as Breaking Bad, Getting to see the character development of BB people coupled with great actors and writing is really great. And the personal relationships are so complex and relatable.
Tuco is a maniac, and now I (partially) understand why. I did dope for two years, almost two decades ago, and I remember the worst addicts raving about the glory of "peanut butter dope." This episode cuts deep. Gilligan did Mike-level research for this one!
One thing that strikes me is some of the mistakes Jimmy makes is the result of getting his law degree online, as Chuck said. He took shortcuts and as a result didn't get any practical experience. Most of those courses offer the bare minimum required to pass the bar exam and get licensed. As a result, he didn't do any clinics where he would go to court with supervision. He didn't do any internships where he would learn how law firms operate, he didn't get the opportunities to network. Thing is, this is also true of a lot of people that attend state or private law schools. Not everyone takes advantage of or gets offered those opportunities and they, too, make the same sort of mistakes. They are just making stuff up as they go along, fighting for work in a crowded field that takes money to make money. Jimmy has the additional obstacle of years-long family baggage, triggers and bad habits. I can fault him but I can also sympathize with him. They are all great characters, brilliantly acted.
One thing that many people may not think about is....because of Nacho's knowledge that Mike is this way, is a big reason why he trusts Mike about the situation with his father
Isn't anyone upset that the senior's mail (Jimmy's yellow add) is being withheld? Isn't THAT illegal (big time)??? 2 good men to have on your side: Mike & Davos.
🥊🌮🤫Tuco vs Mike - Mike was doing everything to make sure he looked like the helpless victim of an assault. For the record, if Mike was actually throwing hands with Tuco - Mike's skill versus Tuco's power - I think Mike would have beaten Tuco. He got rid of Tuco's gun no problem and we know Mike can take some serious hits.
I don’t know who will possibly see this now so long after the fact, but I’ve been rewatching BB and Tuco is wearing those decorative boxing gloves around his neck when he is killed in season 2, episode 2 of BB! I don’t think this show makes mistakes, so I need to know how Tuco ends up getting those gloves back!
Love your reactions and work was just wondering did I blink and miss it or we haven't seen a reaction for the teaser and the trailer for the next season of Westworld from you guys?
Absolutely loving these Better Call Saul reactions Nikki & Steven! Keep them coming then I am happy and also I am counting down the weeks/months/years until you both get round to Sons of Anarchy also, got a sneaky feeling that series could break your top 3 shows ever. Thanks for the joys from your reactions. X
*****SPOILER ALERT ONLY IF YOU HAVE NOT SEEN BREAKING BAD****** Just a cool bit of Tuco trivia I heard.. the actor Raymond Cruz said it was very hard to play such an evil character and requested during BB that Tuco be killed off as he struggled to play such an insane villian, not that he wasn't good at it, as you know he was, but it put a strain on his soul playing such a character. I'm assuming anyone watching this knows the BB story so no spoiler.
When Nikki asked why Mike didn't "pull the trigger" and instead took a beating for half the money Steven said he clearly wasn't there yet. But we know Mike has already admitted that he used to be a dirty cop and we've already seen him kill 2 officers. He clearly is willing to kill. I think maybe this was just less risky for him. I'm not sure what he'd be charged with if they found out that he instigated that fight for money but whatever it is it's not a murder charge. Also if Tuco was murdered a lot of people other than the police would be looking into it. Tuco going to prison for assaulting someone doesn't raise any questions with his family/crew. Nobody would suspect foul play.
I'd be like Mike, attention to detail.. I think of all possible potential situations when making decisions, even the most outlandish ones so I'm prepared.
I think so too. We've seen how he beat up Walt in the bar (albeit getting the first punch from out of nowhere) He's definitely a good example of not underestimating him just because he's a much older guy. He's got some brawn, yes, but he's got so much more brain.
mike i a complicated character .. even though he is on the bad side he will make his reputation as a good guy.. yea but in future that wll change at one specific point of time

Just a suggestion... But PEAKY BLINDERS!!! You both would love this show. Period piece, gangster roots, and strong female leads.

It might also explain one of the reasons he's so reluctant to kill right now, with the exception of the 2 police officers he killed out of revenge.
Honestly cant wait for you guys to get to seasons 3 and 4, that's when things get heated.
For BB fans, y'all were lackin for not realizing that the necklace mike was holding, was tucos...
Yeah, we miss lots of things.
Never trust an edited comment.
Fun video👍 I like the Heisenberg shirt.🤣
This reaction is tight tight tight
Another classic Mike episode. 🥊🌮🤫
Who noticed when chuck was lying down he has a watch on?
Paused a Vikings episode for this. Trying to binge watch to catch up to your Vikings watch-through
Love your reactions and work was just wondering did I blink and miss it or we haven't seen a reaction for the teaser and the trailer for the next season of Westworld from you guys?
Also not sure if you notice but that was Krazy-8 in this episode too.
Crazy 8! The guy that tried to kill Walt with a piece of a broken plate.
The cup doesn’t fit in the car and Jimmy doesn’t fit in at Dave’s and Main
*****SPOILER ALERT ONLY IF YOU HAVE NOT SEEN BREAKING BAD******
Just a cool bit of Tuco trivia I heard.. the actor Raymond Cruz said it was very hard to play such an evil character and requested during BB that Tuco be killed off as he struggled to play such an insane villian, not that he wasn't good at it, as you know he was, but it put a strain on his soul playing such a character. I'm assuming anyone watching this knows the BB story so no spoiler.
18:19 crazy 8!!!!!
You guys seen the Defenders from Nikki’s T-shirt I’m assuming, any other reactions of the Marvel Netflix shows coming soon?
Probably not lol
Mike got beaten up by Tuco on PURPOSE?! 😲 damn !😆 lol
Hi, you haven't added this to the season two playlist yet. Great content btw
It’s been added... thanks skippyy
I'd be like Mike, attention to detail.. I think of all possible potential situations when making decisions, even the most outlandish ones so I'm prepared.
🥊🌮🤫...love that you guys are watching this show.
EL CAMINO TRAILER DROPPED
How the fuck did N&S not recognize Crazy Eight?
So excited for this episode! Can’t wait for the breaking bad movie reaction ❤️
Tight....tight tight tight!
20:57 Mike is a total badass
At 31:23 Steven looks like he's edging close to crushing on Kim. Maybe he did.
Nikki missing nothing! I never made that connection before. Yes, this is Mike taking a half-measure. He's not the Mike from BB yet.
Had Mike not been holding back, I feel like he could've stomped Tuco. Tuco is stronger, but I feel like Mike has technique.
I think so too. We've seen how he beat up Walt in the bar (albeit getting the first punch from out of nowhere) He's definitely a good example of not underestimating him just because he's a much older guy. He's got some brawn, yes, but he's got so much more brain.
Domingo looks like a kitty cat
El Camino reaction pls?
Edit: i read the destrpion* spelling
Woohoo!!
C'mon, guys. I hate to pile on but that was Krazy 8 at 18:18.
Yeah you already know what happens when someone kills Tuco.
you guys didn't notice the guy with Tuco was crazy 8...
🥊🌮🤫 Love the reactions!
Whered you get that Heisenberg shirt?
Krazy-8 dude! krazy-8 !
The title of the show would be very confusing for someone who’s never seen Breaking Bad
🥊 🌮 🤫 🌮 🥊
Awesome as always.
🥊 🌮 🤫 🌮 🥊
You didn't realise it was Crazy - 8..??
Not right away
