    I started using Essie cuticle oil in November after using OPI for so many years, considering the cost savings. I applied it on my nails and toes every night after applying hand and feet cream before bedtime. To me, the smell is great, I used just the bare minimum, actually I did not noticed it was yellow, maybe poor lighting on my part. It is a great cuticle oil for $9!

    I'm currently using this. I apply it at night so the colour doesn't bother me. I quite enjoy it.

    I can remember having Essie apricot oil many years ago and it wasn’t yellow. This newer formulation is disappointing. I wish they wouldn’t add so much fragrance to these oils since fragrance can be irritating. Thanks for testing these products for us. ❣️❣️

  • @koilpoju

    I actually really like it. The smell is nice and it does not last too long, so it really does not bother me. I also use it only before I go to bed, so the colour is not a problem as it does not stain my natural nails or skin. So I guess to each their own, but I like it:)

    I have the old version and it is more orange and actually smells a bit like apricots. Kinda okey, but not as nourishing as I would hope, I preferred just the mandel oil I used earlier I think, although the apricot smell is kinda nice.

    I recently bought the Cuccio pomegranate oil, and that doesn't seem to cause any issues like the Essie. I had the Essie apricot oil in the past and did not care for it.

    I love Young Nails rose cuticle oil, which is pretty much clear. I ordered their new citrus scented version but didn’t realize it would be bright yellow so I still haven’t tried it 🙈 this really does look like someone poured the grease off of a slice of pizza into a bottle though!

    Looked like it's the CI 75120 Annatto that's the problem. It's the same thing they use in cheddar cheese to make it orange. Why would they even add it? To make it seem more apricot-y? Do you ever use Bliss Kiss oil? I love it - high jojoba content.

    I’ve used this product before like years ago 😅 I guess when it first came out. It was great. To me lately it seems that maybe the formula has changed. I don’t remember it be so “orangey” in color. It’s still a great product. When I use it I just don’t apply a bunch of it. I love Essie products too! ☺️ I do have a question: Have you tried the Static Nail polish line? This line has been my go to between wearing gel polish. Also what do you think of the Orly line of polishes? Have you tried the Orly Breathable polishes? I love those as well 🥰

    Thanks for the review! It's a helpful one. More like these pls 🙏. I am using Sally Hansen Nail&Cuticle Oil and I'm very happy with it. Since I've started to use it 6 months ago, I've noticed that my cuticles don't grow as much. I do use it daily.
    I recently found a nail polish brand Kur which is quite pricey (17 eur/12ml bottle) but looks professional in the shop. I tested their cuticle oil and it's smells great. Do you know anything about this brand? Would you recommend it?

    • @TheSalonLife
      @TheSalonLife  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Hi Dee! I think when you use oil the skin around the nail (not cuticle) is more flexible and it doesn’t get stuck to the nail which will pull it and stretch it. But it nicely bounces back. Cuticle, which sheds under proximal nail fold is not affected by oil. It’s a dead skin cells that sit between nail plate and the proximal nail fold forming a seal to protect the matrix area.

    • @TheSalonLife
      @TheSalonLife  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Thanks Sarah. Less perfume...that comes down to personal preference. There are some like the CND solar oil I personally find to have a nice almond smell that isn't overpowering. However, there are those that have a distain for it and find it has too much smell. It all depends.
      If you find many of the oils out there are too perfume-y for your taste you could consider making your own, just a thought.
      Have a great day - MSL

      I know, maybe so it looks “so rich”? Not a fan. Believe it or not but I added a dropper to my Cuccio oil (which is very light in color) and just such a small amount made my Cuccio oil orange 🍕. The amount of pigment in Essie oil is quite high 😢

    I just bought it recently to try something new, and found it too oily LOL and I found the scent too strong for what I like, especially if you are going to eat food with your hands you can still smell the scent. I make my own cuticle oil at home for much cheaper using jojoba oil and Vitamin E mixed, unscented and works like a charm, i just refill an old Sally Hansen Cuticle oil bottle I had from before. great video!

    I agree with those who couldn't use it because of the smell. Is there an oil you recommend? And am I understanding correctly- oils are applied nightly over painted nails? I paint my nails 1x a week, so if oils need to go on bare nails it would be weekly for me. LOL! I guess what I'm saying is I need a nail oil tutorial!

    • @TheSalonLife
      @TheSalonLife  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Good point I should have addressed. Oil should be applied as often as possible. When you think about it you put cream on your face after each time we wash it, right?
      Oil and creams protect the skin when they are on the skin. Ideally cream oil should be applied after each wash.

    • @TheSalonLife
      @TheSalonLife  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      And oils don’t just benefit the nail plate but the skin around the nails (mistakenly called cuticle). They also benefit the coating on the nails. Gel polish or polish. They plasticize the coating.

    EW Da-vid. Essie should really look at their coloring choices. By the way, I had already made up my mind not to buy this oil after reading many previous reviews on Amazon so The SalonLife is not to blame for negativity. As the oil seeps under the free edges it really does look dirty, ruining a perfectly clean and lovely manicure. I do love the Cuccio oils and might even consider the Essie Apricot at a later date if Essie tames the use of such Cheeto-strong colors, regardless if they're plant base. Hard pass.
