I just wanted to say thank you. I found you yesterday on TH-cam and immediately became a fan. Promise not a stalker but was wrapped up in your videos to learn how to take care of my nails. 10 years ago I bought Blue Cross because everybody was raving about this product. When I first applied it, I realized stg was wrong when my nails started peeling (like tiny strings but still...) and now thanks to you, a freaking decade later, I'm learning that it's not supposed to stay on the nail for more than 2 min 😱 The internet was wild back then. I never used it again, I thought it was just too strong for my (already extremely hard) nails. Your channel has officially become my new Bible ❤
I’ve never had good experience with blue cross even following the bottle instructions. My bottles are always goopy like runny boogers. I’m not sure if that suppose to be the consistency or what. I prefer sally hansen cuticle remover
I discovered your channel about 9 months ago, and I'm really happy I did. I lean more toward natural nail look, and don't like to fuss to much over my nails ( love the look that you did in this video, that's my favourite fingernail look as well). Initially I watched your videos to see how different 'natural' Essie nail polishes looked, but then I started watching your other videos as well, and I've learned so much. My nails never looked bad, but since I've been following your advice they look even better, almost perfect. I never felt comfortable cutting the keratinized skin of the pnf ( pain, redness, slight inflammation), and when I learned from you why that is not a good idea anyway, it all made sense to me. I started using nail oils, and moisturizing the skin more often and my pnf looks great ( and it seems to me that it got even less visible), I don't get hang nails or small skin tears like I used to. Your nail care routine is simple, easy, manageable ( even for someone who has never been to a nail salon), doesn't require a lot of time, and when you do it on a regular basis it gives amazing results. In short, thank you so much for all your advice, videos, and hard work. I hope your channel and viewership keeps growing. You deserve it!! Love and thanks to you and Mr. SL from TO Canada

Great video. The whites on my index fingers don't match but I've learned from you to check nail shape from both sides, not just follow the white line. Great manicure! I love a clean short nail look. I love your channel. I’m trying to get my nails healthy again. I was getting dip powder nails at the nail salon for a couple of months and my now my nails are totally destroyed.
I love your videos but have to prep myself physically and mentally before watching lol the sound of the nail file absolutely makes my skin crawl. I take the uneasy feeling because thanks to your videos I’ve grown mt nails so beautifully
So thankful for you and all you have taught me about caring for my nails. I have been following your advice and procedures for 2+ months. The improvement is amazing. Still have a grow out period to go, but I’m starting to like looking at my nails ♥️❤️♥️
Best video so far, because it showed me clearly how to work on my own nails from the correct perspective. I’m also a big fan of natural and short, because I’m a gardener and my hands are large and now 70 years old, so no need to draw attention, just keep them neat and healthy. I especially appreciated all the little tips along the way. Questions: do you recommend the diamond file and tweezerman cuticle tool more than the glass ones you were using, and is the Dior Nail Glow still your best recommendation for the natural nail, versus the less expensive option you used in this video? Thank you so much for doing these videos; it’s almost impossible to find a nail technician who understands and follows healthy practices.
That’s what those hard areas are? I have these hard areas around my nails now that I’ve never had before. when I cut them It hurts too much afterwards. So I see that you file that area down a little bit. I appreciate this so much. Greetings from NYC.
Just a little calluses because we use our hands. I don’t recommend cutting it. They will grow thicker and the skin might peel too. I highly recommend Kerasal to soften the skin around the nails. I explain this in the video called “3 habits that will transform your nails”
Thank you for your informative videos. My skin and nail health have improved (and considering my medications for lupus take a toll on skin and nails, that's a tall order). Thanks again! 😀
Hi ! I would like to thank you so much. You've been quite helpful to me in only a short amount of time. I always thought trimming the cuticle was a must. No matter how much I tried on my own. I'd end up with hang nails or sometimes I'd accidentally cut myself. Ugh I'm following you're routine now. Which I really appreciate you sharing your knowledge. And also for making a pedicure video. Very informative and helpful. Yes. Somehow I got an impression, not sure where I got it from... That when you file and exfoliate your feet, all the dryness, etc, would be gone. I would put creams on my feet, though I put it on whenever dry or damp feet. Not after my shower, though. I now have a better understanding for my foot care routine. Once again, I thank you ! 🎉 I will continue to follow your channel ❤
You have a way of addressing all the issues I think about, without me even asking. How do you do that...👍 Thank you for this video as well of all the rest!❤️
Very nice nails! I have the same issue with the bump on my finger from writing and I get thickened skin there too. The PNF on both my index fingers are not evenly curved and I push back the one side a little to try to make it even.
I always struggle with filing /shaping . I must be doing something wrong; ending up with chipped and split nails. I usually have a manicurist do that. Thanks for the demo. Very well done 👍
I can't tell you how much I appreciate your education. I have always have a splitting fingernails. I've been using the blue cross cuticle oil and I bought some almond oil to rub on my nails it is been a real game changer for me.
I love blue cross thanks to you. I used it for my pedicure and my toes look amazing! Going to do my manicure next. Can't wait to have beautiful nails again. 😍
This was such a great and timely video! I'm getting back into really caring for and polishing my nails due to my husband's desire to start wearing polish and caring for and healing his lifelong bitten nails had me worried. But this and your other videos have given me hope and confidence I can get his shape in pretty good time. Thank you.
Thank you Anna, another great video and loved there was no efile for us diyers at home. Despite your always fab advice I was so reluctant to order kerasal as it's so expensive here in uk, but I took the plunge, only used last night and this morning and got to say I feel a difference already, highly recommend and you only need a little. I wish you where near me to give you a hug as I am so grateful for all your advice and recommendations, my nails and skin is just amazing thanks to you. I have two broken nails, but once they are all looking they're best I will send pics of my progress 🙌🏻 in meantime you guys take care 🙏🏻 Oh any advice to whiten the underside of the free edge of the nail, mine is lovely and white when just washed but goes darker 🤔
Hey Anna! Firstly I’d like to thank you for sharing your acknowledge with us! I used to be an avid naild bitter and got rid of the habit quite a while ago. Not only was I biting and hurting the nail itself, I was also picking and inadvertly cutting the PNF to the point of getting it hurt, swollen and red. It’s been a few months since I actually started taking care of the PNF (and that is thanks to you and your channel!). I now properly remove the cuticle, push gently the living skin and apply oils and creams on the regular basis. I do find, however, that the PNF is “loose” (as if the PNF was stretched and then pushed too much and left a “hanging” skin - even though I never actually let it get stretched). Could this happen because of the cutting? And if you ever had a client with a similar problem, did you see any improvements with time? I’m trying my best to keep up with the nail care but that hang skin does not seem to get better and I’m itching myself to not cut it all over again lol
Sometimes I notice that people are overly critical about their nails and skin around the nails. It's normal to have skin around the nails and it's normal to have that band of skin around the nails. It always is a little loose though. That is normal. It should be soft and pliable though and healthy looking. Sometimes being too harsh with the manicuring techniques can cause that skin to grow more to protect itself. It's difficult to tell you more without seeing your nails. Just have patience, if you cut that skin for years it could take a little longer for the skin to grow normally.
Thank you for your reply! Until I found your channel, I’ve never seen anyone properly talk about a healthy nail care. My standarts have been deep-pushed back “cuticle”/PNF until learning with you about the anatomy of the nail, how it works and how to care for it. I guess I’m a little anxious for results, though it has been many years of traumatizing such a sensible area. However, the change is already huge considering that I had sore skin almost all the time and spent a ridiculous amount of time manicuring (in the wrong way). I hope more and more people can see your work and learn from it! Best regards from Brazil!
Hi Anne! I recently found your content and I'm binging it. Can you do a video on what cuticle nipper you use and how to safely use it without hurting yourself? I saw you use one in previous videos for hangnails but I'm still leery about using it because if bad experiences with bleeding. Anyway great video I love your content ❤️
I just watched a cuticle video from her and it was very informative . The cuticle is the skin on the nail . The proximal fold is the live skin that's slightly over the cuticle (just push back) She used blue cross and pushed back the cuticle . No nipping /clipping. I can link the video if you like
I understand what you’re saying about nail ridges, especially as we age; however, some of the ridges on my nails (I’m 75) split the nail vertically down past the nail bed, even if I keep the nails short.. I use nail oil and cream containing lanolin and urea every night at bedtime. I use hand cream during the day. Do you ( or your subscribers) have any suggestions on how do deal with this vertical splitting of the nails?

Thank you so much for the pure manicure. Currently I’m going through chemotherapy and as you can imagine my nails are suffering. Have you any advice or experience with this nail conditions. Your help will be highly appreciated. Stay healthy and in good mood😊
I’m so envious of your long nail beds. My nail ends a good 1/4” before the end of my fingers and I can never get them grown out to even sport length. Is there any way to lengthen the nail bed naturally?
This is great advice! I think many tend to be too harsh on our nails and ourselves as to how our nails should look because of how artificial nails look. We forget that our natural nails don’t have to look perfect and artificial.
Exactly. Just because we don't look like Victoria Secret models doesn't mean that there is something wrong with us. Even Victoria Secret models don't look like Victoria Secret models in real life.
Thank you for doing natural tutorials and I second another persons comment that is great to see you do work on your own hands because it helps us see how you deal with the difficulties of shaping one’s own nails. Do you ever do videos on natural nail art for shorter nails? I love the bare/neutral look most of the time but do find myself missing the fun of nail art. It’s so much easier to do nail art on long nail enhancements but due to allergy issues, I’m no longer able to wear enhancements. I miss the easy length, but careful care and use of my hands allows me to grow modestly long nails that I can play with. Looking for shorter nail art videos is disappointing because most searches yield art on enhanced nails. Thanks again for posting this! :)
I just started with doing home manicures after hearing about Olive and June. Thank you so much for your detailed videos! It is so helpful. I hate doing my nails, and don't really have much patience, but I'm trying to do more self-care. Applying the polish I find the hardest part for me, even when I apply it with thin coats. Is removing the cuticle and pushing down the skin a must do for a manicure? I skipped that step because I didn't have the proper equipment.
Hi Diane, you don't need a special equipment to remove the cuticle. Just a birchwood stick and some Blue cross cuticle remover. The cuticle is removed to clean off the nail plate from skin cells so you can polish nice and neat. Polish will also not stick properly to cuticle. It will peel from that area.
Love doing manicure on my self at home at least once a week or two it's me time. I love watching your videos now very informative, so is bliss kiss who I learn about nails and all the nail terms. I like my nails naked nothing on them I know that's bad to do but I think it looks nice. I put a lot of oil and lotion on after removing nail polish and washing my hands.
There is absolutely nothing bad with not wearing polish on your nails. I think this is a marketing thing that somehow is now taken as a fact that polish protects the nails. I have to make a video about it but basically I wear polish on my nails because it looks nice, well, I like the way it looks and because it slightly changes how my nails are shaped. Thats it. :)
@@TheSalonLife oh ok I thought it protected them I also like wearing nail polish but not all the time I get new colours from Emily de Molly and I want to wear them all at once 😂 is it bad taking off nail polish every few days?
I have some coconut oil cream. I looked on the label and it's made by Blue Cross laboratories. I've started putting it on my cuticles. I'm not sure if it's by the same company. :)
All of Erica’s nail files are sold out, do you have another recommendation? I’ve tried random cheap and glass and don’t like the ones I’ve tried but this one looks perfect! Like you said thin but strong.
I think it's important to filel in one direction if the clients nail have brittle or peeling nails. love how you angle file under corners of nails as you shape
Hi is there another nail file that is comparable for self manicures to the one your using but less expensive, as I can not afford it? Thank you. Also I have learned a lot from your videos.🙂
Thank you Ana! Love the polish. Broke down and ordered it. It comes in a "duo", so i am hoping i ordered the right one. It also seems very healthy. I notice that you didn't use a base coat, so I assume it's not necessary?. I am looking forward for my polish. I think it's going to take a long time because it comes from UK and I am in Canada
The duo is really nice too! I have to make a video about it! The Dior didn’t require base coat or top coat. It’s a one coat brightener. Of course you can add coats but for a subtle natural look this is great.
Hi Mela! I'm in the UK & bought the duo a few months ago after discovering it googling for a Dior dupe. They now sell them as singles too so you can choose Glowing My Way or Got Me Glowing, one or the other, from the duo naturale set ☺️ I always use a nourishing base coat before using them, either the Zoya Naked Base or NailKind Nail Strengthener. One coat of this pink perfector makes the nails look amazing. So much so,.my son said I should sell all of my nail polishes & just stick to this natural look! 🙈 Hope this helps! ☺️🤗
What is the name of the polish used? Looked like “Nails Inc. - Beyond Your”. I searched for that but didn’t find it. Yet in this stream, Dior is mentioned. Is this a Dior polish?
I have 2 questions: 1) How do you recommend sanitizing tools for the home/self manicurist? 2) Why is it better to prep the mail plate with 99% alcohol as opposed to acetone? Thank you so much for your videos. My nails have evolved from a health and polish standpoint.
Sanitising tools. Wash them with soap and water and a toothbrush well and then soak them for 10 min in 70% alcohol. You can use a mix of 75% of alcohol (99% strength) and 25% pure cosmetic grade acetone.

Great manicure! I love a clean short nail look. I love your channel. I’m trying to get my nails healthy again. I was getting dip powder nails at the nail salon for a couple of months and my now my nails are totally destroyed.
Thanks for another great video. My thyroid fingernails have improved so much by watching all your videos!
I love your videos but have to prep myself physically and mentally before watching lol the sound of the nail file absolutely makes my skin crawl. I take the uneasy feeling because thanks to your videos I’ve grown mt nails so beautifully
The advice and explanation on manicures has changed my world. I have bitten my nails for 95% of my 62 years on earth
How did ypu stop nailbiting? I am in my 50s and am ashamed of my biting
Le agradezco sí me puedes dar en Español nombre de los productos.Gracias
Hey, I’m a Charleston native too! ✋🏻
@@TwoShedsJackson 🙋 I am currently living in the north of England-- I miss our sunny skies!
I too suffer from the effects of autoimmune diseases and the medications. But using the MSL techniques they look much better!
@@ms.t9399 I am so glad she is sharing her knowledge with us. 🙂
Hi !
I would like to thank you so much. You've been quite helpful to me in only a short amount of time.
I always thought trimming the cuticle was a must. No matter how much I tried on my own. I'd end up with hang nails or sometimes I'd accidentally cut myself. Ugh
I'm following you're routine now.
I will continue to follow your channel ❤
You have a way of addressing all the issues I think about, without me even asking. How do you do that...👍
Thank you for this video as well of all the rest!❤️
Thank you Shelly!! ❤
Wow i love this look. Thanks for the oiling tip after handwash. Will do it right away.😊
You’re welcome 😊
I found this video very helpful. I will try this weekly and doing the oil after washing hands!!! Thanks
Glad it was helpful! Thank you for writing:))
It looks absolutely 💯. The blucross cuticle remover is the best, but yeah it took me some time to use it correctly.
I love blue cross thanks to you. I used it for my pedicure and my toes look amazing! Going to do my manicure next. Can't wait to have beautiful nails again. 😍
Nice. You take great care of your nails.
This was such a great and timely video! I'm getting back into really caring for and polishing my nails due to my husband's desire to start wearing polish and caring for and healing his lifelong bitten nails had me worried. But this and your other videos have given me hope and confidence I can get his shape in pretty good time. Thank you.
Thanks for the great video, I learned so much. I was being way too aggressive with my nails.
I have two broken nails, but once they are all looking they're best I will send pics of my progress 🙌🏻 in meantime you guys take care 🙏🏻
Oh any advice to whiten the underside of the free edge of the nail, mine is lovely and white when just washed but goes darker 🤔
Thank you so much for you videos! They are so well done and easy to watch and understand.
Thank you so much!!
I can link the video if you like
How to fix cuticles without cutting . Hopefully this helps
You have beautiful short nails.and I file my nails back and forth, I don’t see anything wrong with my nails.
Wow! Thank you, I learn so much from your videos.
Love the demo as I have learned a lot and have ordered some products to help my peeling nails. ❤
That's the kind of video I like the most. Thank you 🥰
Your comment from the other day reminded me that it’s time to make such video :). Thank you for that :))

Aaaaawww 😭You're a real darling 💖
I understand what you’re saying about nail ridges, especially as we age; however, some of the ridges on my nails (I’m 75) split the nail vertically down past the nail bed, even if I keep the nails short.. I use nail oil and cream containing lanolin and urea every night at bedtime. I use hand cream during the day. Do you ( or your subscribers) have any suggestions on how do deal with this vertical splitting of the nails?

Love this Anna. Perfect for us DIY’ers. Many thanks ❤️
I’ve been following your advice and my nails look great.
I'm so enjoying your videos! I love this look so much!
You have gorgeous nails!
I love watching you do manicures and your voice is very relaxing... :-)
Oh thank you!
Great tutorial. You are lucky to have such nice, natural nails.
Thank you so much 🤗
This is great advice!
Thank you so much for your kind words.
I’m not into nail art so I don’t do it and I don’t offer it. I’m not much of an artist :)
@@TheSalonLife I completely understand. Thank you once again for all the great information, and for responding. You are very appreciated. :)
Thank you for the tips. I have deep lines or ridges on all my nails.
Just great photography & teaching...
Your videos are SOOO helpful! Happy I discovered you.
I love this I’m a low maintenance gal!
Amen to that 🥰
Washing the nails that soon is probably what messed up my nail skin sides! Because I didn't know to do that washing so soon.
Love it! I need to try that Nails, Inc.
I love this look too. Cannot imagine HOW folks find the stiletto style appealing.
It's helpful to hold up your nails against a mirror to get the perfect form. 🥰
Good idea Magret!!
Brilliant video, as a home DIY sub, this is invaluable! Thank you 🤩🥰
Love doing manicure on my self at home at least once a week or two it's me time.
Thank you, Pani Anna. Really enjoy your videos! Thank you!
I have some coconut oil cream. I looked on the label and it's made by Blue Cross laboratories. I've started putting it on my cuticles. I'm not sure if it's by the same company. :)
Probably not. :)
Thanks for all of your videos. They are soooo helpful!! What is the name of the polish you are using? Can it be used as a topcoat?
Hi Rebecca! It’s “Glowing my Way” from NailsInc. Link in the description box.
First timer and I loved it. Thank you so much 😊
All of Erica’s nail files are sold out, do you have another recommendation? I’ve tried random cheap and glass and don’t like the ones I’ve tried but this one looks perfect! Like you said thin but strong.
Hi there, are you looking for something for professional use? Or for yourself?
wow absolutely classy !
Great video! I have the same bump on same finger ! You don't clean under nails? I seem to get a lot of build up that needs cleaning out
Elizabeth - yes. It seems a hand wash & nail scrub would remove dead skin under the nail!
I love to watch your videos, and omg your nails look gorgeous
Love Nails inc. Quality.
I think it's important to filel in one direction if the clients nail have brittle or peeling nails. love how you angle file under corners of nails as you shape

Hallo ein toller Kanal. Habe auch starke Rillen mich würde interessieren was das für ein gelber Schwamm ist. Danke
Hi is there another nail file that is comparable for self manicures to the one your using but less expensive, as I can not afford it? Thank you. Also I have learned a lot from your videos.🙂
Love your videos ! What cuticle oils do u like ?
Che spettacolo ,finalmente una persona che non ha le unghie finte ,meravigliose ,chic
@@TheSalonLife Thank you Ana! I will be using polish in my nails after about 2 years of nothing. This is very exciting
Was that not from a duo package?
Bardzo relaksujący filmik, jak zawsze :) Czy wykonujesz może czasem japoński manicure?
I have 2 questions:
1) How do you recommend sanitizing tools for the home/self manicurist?
2) Why is it better to prep the mail plate with 99% alcohol as opposed to acetone?
Thank you so much for your videos. My nails have evolved from a health and polish standpoint.
Sanitising tools. Wash them with soap and water and a toothbrush well and then soak them for 10 min in 70% alcohol.
You can use a mix of 75% of alcohol (99% strength) and 25% pure cosmetic grade acetone.
I just love that look also! ❤️
Thank you 😊
What about hangnails???
Your nails are gorgeous…
Thanks a bunch..😉

BTW, I would love to have a closeup video of you shaping the side of the nails. I cant seem to file that area like you do. Mine keep splitting real low and I dont want to promote that
Breaking in the stress area should not be caused by how you file.... unless you really overfile the sides.... Can you send me a picture on how they break?
