My Accord LX has 235,000 in under 7 years. I had to replace the starter and upgrade the battery to one with more cold cranks. The blue tooth is okay. Also, I had to replace the coils and all struts/shocks. I have had no issues with my transmission, having used both Honda OEM fluid and replacement fluid. Now I replace the fluid every 40 k, previously at 60k. Original bulbs are still on the car sans the headlights that were replaced. The car is very reliable.

Minimal issues with my 2015 LX, 78k miles. Mirror issue I never noticed.. maybe my car didn't have it. Zero challenges with the starter. Minimal oil dilution issues. Zero CVT slippage, even at steep grades. Had no problems with the CVT, and actually preferred the immediate "downshift" compared to other cars (2018+ Camry) having to hunt for the right gear when you just need to go. Averaged 36mpg per tank, 70% highway. I did 6 hour drives with the cloth seats in the LX and was never uncomfortable. Really a great car. Only real issue was left rear power door lock stopped working. not a big deal since I rarely use that door. I could still manually unlock it with the button, and would just leave it locked all the time by default. Some wind noise in the rear.. overall road noise wasn't great, but I got used to it. Bluetooth always sync'd to the phone before I even got in the car. Always worked flawlessly. Backup camera was great. Tires.. while on the narrow/bubble side (205/65/R16), were at least cheap to replace.. $110 for Continental True Contact, which had better ratings than what came on the car, Pro Contact. The only main downside to the 4cyl Sedans is the cornering. Lots of body roll. However, at DriveAccord.net, you'll find forums on a simple easy 30 minute do it yourself rear sway bar upgrade that helps the understeer/body roll significantly. I never got around to doing it myself, but people are confident in it.

My 2014 accord LX, at 79k miles now. Here is my summary
    1. Car had a large CVT oil leak after 6month of purchase. Dealer replaced transmission around 12k miles
    2. Still oil leak, dealer replaced engine small block at around 25k miles. They said engine block has a crack
    3. The battery went bad after 45k miles, I upgrade it to a larger one like one in the V6 model
    4. Starter went bad after around 55k miles, I replaced myself with a rebuild one.
    5. I do oil change every 5000
Miles. Oil consumption is around 3/4 qt. at every oil change .
    6. Fuel economy is around 30mpg for me. But 37mpg on the highway at 70mph(according to the onboard computer)
    7. The Front lower ball joint:. The rubber boot show sign of Crack. I will need to get those replaced soon. (Our 2005 toyota corolla still no cracks)
Other than the issues above, I'm happy with this car

Had an 1996 accord, was very reliable, traded in for an e38 bmw, worst decision my dad made. sold the e38, bought a 3rd gen ls430 (been reliable up til today no major issues).
But I really think the reliability of a honda is up to the owner's judgement on service intervals. I have a 1998 honda city still running its original engine and transmission. I think it's alternator and the power steering was changed a few years ago. It's still my sister's daily driver, no problem.
Also a 2003 Accord v6, this one caused a lot of problems tho, it broke down more than a couple of times. we didn't follow the service intervals properly. i'm guessing that's the issue. power steering issue, misfires etc. But fixed all of that, still kept the car. currently has 300k km (182k miles).
I drive a 2016 civic x, 1.6l no turbo. been very reliable, except that the infotainment is laggy and a pulley issue, it was squeaking at 35000km, but it was cleaned not replaced so its fine. other than that, it's perfect.

2014 Accord I4 with 105k miles and with regular maintenance (oil change, air filter, tires, brakes and batteries) I've spent less than $1k in repairs so it's been great. The one expensive thing that went was the wheel bearing which was $500 with labor and basically my mechanic says all new cars have pretty crappy quality wheel bearings and thankfully it was just the one. (also the battery Honda put in is garbage that only lasts 1 year so once it does go, put a high quality battery in like Interstate). Looking into Toyota Camry or a 4Runner as my next vehicle but I expect this Honda will go well past 200k miles, love it and gets great mpg.. something that I will truly miss if I get a 4Runner. Also I cannot believe how great of mpg you're getting for a somewhat aggressive driver, I guess I drive mine pretty hard because I'm lucky to get 28 mpg combined

Great video. We have the 2013 exl 2.4 and the lease is due in May. I have never had a car as long as I have had this one. It amazes me that it can be this good every time I drive it. Amsoil in the engine and transmission since 1000 kms. Never driven it with eco off. I have been nervous about the cvt after warranty, but it still performs like it did when new 115,000 kms ago. I find it interesting and fun to try to keep it under 2000 rpm when driving/accelerating. I wonder what the life expectancy of this motor and cvt is before it fails.

I currently have a 2002 Honda civic, had it for 10 years. Always said, why get a new car when you can upgrade yours, and why get a new car when its cheaper to fix the one you have. I recently took my civic to a mechanic, and for the first time ever, the guy gave up on trying to fix the problem because he can't find it. Had it for a month and a half. This was a huge indication that I need to get another car. This car seems like it would be a HUGE upgrade from what I had. Even without the air intake upgrade and 12 inch subs. Rims can be changed, and the rear ones can too, but other than that, this car is a major major major go.

Great video. Your car looks great to have 131k miles! I have a 2015 Accord EX-L. I bought it towards the end of 2017. I have an issue with the driver's seat comfort. Does anyone else have this issue? The car has a stiffer ride (doesn't bother me) but the issue I have is that the seats are hard and do not give much. As a result, I developed pain in my tail bone. I'm on seat cushion #6 and I think it's going to work.... Otherwise, it's a great car!

Did you have any problems with oil consumption? I have the same model and looked up videos to see if it had any problems I was not aware of and I found a video of someone saying these engines start burning oil. So I checked my car and it was a 1qt low and I have noticed it still burns oil. I only have 63k. I just bought a PVC valve and going to replace it since I read that is the problem but I'm worried my car might have some damage.

1st public comment for me. Felt cute might delete later. I have a 2014 Honda Accord Touring and because of VCM with the V6, I get the same MPG as he stated for the 4 cylinder on the highway. I just did 3 trips from Sacramento to San Jose and each trip was logged a 35 to 36 MPH (highway). Of course city driving is about 21 - 22 MPG. So.... if you know you are going to do a lot of highway driving - seriously you can have the V6 and eat your cake also.

It amazes me how some people get shocked that under 200,000 miles a Honda motor shouldn't be running good Honda motors that run forever and you should have went with the V6 if you're only getting 34 and 35 miles to the gallon at 70 miles an hour because my my V6 Accord touring 2016 gets better gas mileage than that even at 75 miles an hour he gets better gas mileage than thatI have over 300 thousand miles on my TL which is a Honda motor 2 and it still runs like a brand new car so yes I'm expecting my touring to give me 300 plus with no issues if my TL can do it then the Accord should be able to do it too.

The car is at 8300 and it keeps making this whining noise when I accelerate .

Hi Ivan. We have a 2015 EXL with the 2.4 and CVT. I can hear the whining sound as well - mostly with the windows open and believe it is just the CVT working. It is not intrusive on our car.

    • @robmd3851

Yeah it's the CVT , almost sounds like a turbo whistle but mine has had it since new. It's like when you get used to direct injection and the engine kind of rattles like a diesel at a stop light, same principle, it's just different.
