    Coming from a 2008 Accord it’s a night and day difference when comparing to my 2015. The first thing I noticed with the 15 was the solid feel of the car. It has like a heavy(not in bad way) feeling that you would feel in a German car, where as the 08 felt kind of loose and vibrates at high speed just not built as sturdy and after 110k miles on the 2015 it still feels as solid. If there’s one thing I regret it’s getting the cvt however you’re right about the gas mileage. I’ve only replaced one part on my newer accord called the tensioner pulley which is nutritious for a bearing going bad at 100k. It was 100$ fix and back to perfect. Also the tech in the higher trims is amazing. I love my keyless entry moonroof and lane camera .very nice review bud keep it up👍🏻

      Just bought a 2014 Accord Sport as my daily. Crashed my Acura TL and got it totaled. So picked up this accord now and honestly love the car. Didn’t expect it to be as nice as it is. For a daily it’s perfect. Couldn’t really drive my C7 corvette around as a daily for commuting to work due to the gas alone being insane and uncomfortable. Appreciate what Honda offers!

    I have a 2015 EX-L with 120k that we bought as certified preowned w 38k on it and other than routine maintenance all we have done is replace the starter. I am not a huge CVT fan at all, but this one is OK. It is a little draggy sometimes but such as it is with a CVT. As long as you do the fluid drain and refill every 30k or so (easy to do in your own garage) it should never give any trouble. At least that has been my experience. It gets CRAZY good gas mileage. Regularly over 30mpg...I never get less than 500 miles out of a tank. It's like you say, just good no nonsense daily transportation. I'll keep mine as long as it will go. I am hoping for 300k. Good honest review here!

    Bought a 2016 EX-L V6 brand new in April 2016. I'm at 99k miles and I still love it. I've kept up with all the factory recommended service, and already did the 105k service ($$$). It had a leaky oil pump, which was covered by an extended warranty, and got new headlights under factory warranty, but otherwise still perfect. I drive relatively hard, and still average over 27mpg combined, and over 35mpg when highway driving.. Still live this car, and looks sharp

My daughter and I both love our newer models but I seriously miss the 02. It had 194k miles and needed a lot of work (rack and pinion, catalytic converter, was leaking oil and needed new left upper control arm). I agree that it drove better than the newer models. Couple easy additions: add a progress sway bar, will completely flatten the car's response in turns, as the stock bar is tiny; add sound deadening treatment to the doors, trunk, and floorpan, that will cut road noise down massively. For the V6 sedan specifically: add the MDX spacer as it will increase low to mid range torque significantly (does not add peak HP) which add substantial enjoyment in day to day driving since an auto transmission always wants to shift to lower rpm's for fuel economy purposes.

    I’m gonna have to say the excessive tire noise is because of those good year tires that’s on the car right now.
    There’s a huge difference if you swap for some continentals or Michelin’s
    I currently swapped to good year Eagle LS2 from Michelin’s primacy MXM4(factory wheels) while the mechanical grip is better, the highway tire noise is borderline unbearable

    • @MeynMotorGroup
      @MeynMotorGroup  3 ปีที่แล้ว +5

      I would agree, Michelin seems to be excellent. I have a 2017 CR-V and just swapped out the junky, OEM Hankook tires Honda puts on that model by default for a new set of Michelin Defenders. It's made a big difference - ride quality is improved, cabin noise while in motion is reduced, and even the steering is more fluid. I would absolutely recommend if the driver can take the ~$1,000 hit. The CR-V rides like it was truly meant to now.

      My michillens on my 13 accord aren't much louder than the new 22 hyundai I just bought. It's still an amazing car. With good tires, it has fantastic cornering for a family car that offers the most space for mid size sedans of this year.

      @@securipro8641 I have a set of Michelin CrossClimate2’s on my ‘17 Civic EX. Much quieter than the Hankook tires that came from the factory. The Michelin’s have more of a humming sound at highway speeds, and it’s tracking pattern does great in the snow. A little sacrifice on mpg, but worth it for safety during winter conditions. 😊

    My 2013 EXL has a lot of issues. I’ve probably dealt with more issues with this model than I did with my 2005 PT Cruiser (at the time of ownership that is). My Cruiser lasted for about 10 years before it caught on fire on me. The Accord on the other hand, shows more issues at 8 years old. I’ll give it that the 4 cylinder Hondas have had issues with the idle vibrations, but my specific Accord seems to be using one of those new hand held massagers under the hood. I’ve tried everything to see what may be causing such vibrations, but nothing seems to help. Valve cover gasket leaks crazy oil. Cam chain tensioner is gone to shit as it always gives off a rattle noise when cold starting first thing in the morning. Suspension suck and I didn’t know it was that bad until I rode in the back with my toddler, while my wife drove. Poor wifey was riding bumpy from Houston to Dallas for two years back there. The dual radiator and AC fans are OK. The AC fan does have a mind of it’s own as it just quits in the middle of 100 plus degree weather here in TX. Blend door actuator has burnt out and makes a clicking noise under the center console. Center vents blow warm air unless you got that temp set to the lowest possible with AC. I could go on. This car is easy enough to work on, however. If it weren’t for that, I probably would have spent thousands at the shop or dealership. Everything listed above was repaired by yours truly; well, almost everything. One upgrade I would definitely recommend is changing the battery to a bigger one. The slim one that comes with it, suuuuuuuucks.

    1. Don't bother putting a quieter tire on the Accord. It will still be a noisy car. Been there, done that with Goodyear Assurance Comfortred. Quiet cars are born, not made.
    2. On the other hand, I put Michelin Pilot Sport 4 on my 2010 Accord, and the handling became unbelievably good, as good as a BMW 440i or a Genesis G70 through tight turns. Good tires will turn a wallowing family sedan into an excellent-handling sports sedan.

I know I was upset when they first switched to McPherson but like with the civic I know they will make it feel better with each generation so that the chassis improvements will make the lack of double wishbones less notable. I get that profits are important for a company and good for consumers since they can reinvest it into making better and more fun vehicles. I just love seeing Honda doing well. The electric powered steering is too light though compared to the 8th gen (4 cylinder) the suspension on the 8th gen feels more solid but a little bumpier. The hydraulic steering feels way better. But the i4 is so slow, with the 5 speed auto. Takes forever to rev it out to get some decent power, esp with passengers in the back it’s a dog. The 7th gen accord felt zippier than the 8th gen even though it made less power, but it also weighed way less. 8th gen is just too heavy.
