      I usually agree with everything you say but demonizing sovereign citizens as dangerous is ludicrous. What do you base this on? The one shooting involving a sovereign citizen and a son? When they shot a cop? You might as well say black people are unstable and dangerous.

      This is the most ridiculous and biased "audit the audit" I've ever seen! Why are you defaming this man by referring to him as a "sovereign citizen", a group you refer to as a "violent domestic terrorist organization"? He never mentioned or claimed any connection. He has plead his position in court and won. He explained this, which the officer verified (conveniently edited out), and was released because what he said was true. I can't believe you tried to feed us that, "he didn't argue and let him go in the interest of having a better relationship with the man in the future" nonsense. Do you realize how ridiculous that sounds? And you gave him a "bad grade" because he studied the law and was able to articulate those facts in the courtroom and on camera in the street? Pull your head out.

      @@architeuthis3476 I don't really know what to say. How about asking how experienced you are in the world. How old are you? I don't want to sound harsh, but I don't see another way. Bad people lie to get out of trouble. And bad people exist. I think the reason the cop was reasonable here is because the infraction was tiny. If you run a red light, I think the cop needs to see your DL and verify insurance. Cops aren't allowed to let a driver without a license and insurance continue driving. So, what if the cop gives a ticket based on whatever name the driver gives and doesn't verify insurance - then the driver goes to the local bar, gets drunk, and kills a family while he's traveling? That kind of stuff happens. The cop would be roasted and the PD sued for millions. What's the responsible thing for the cop to do?
      To your question - it's simple, comply. Compliance is what you do. If you have no DL, you're not driving away. The car will get impounded. If the driver has no ID at all he will probably get arrested. We live in a nation of laws and laws are to be followed. We don't just make up the rules as we go along because we know better. You don't just say that law is dumb, I'm not doing anything wrong, I'm right and you're wrong. That's a recipe for conflict - that's what you do if you want to get in a fight at a bar.
      Is it hard to follow the law? Know your rights. Also, know your responsibilities. Every right you have is somebody else's responsibility. Stand up for your rights and uphold the rights of others. Be responsible.

In fact, knowing your rights can help you see when you've done wrong. I agree with your assertion about the intent of this channel. I think the rub on this particular video is to give bad actors another tool to get away with bad acts. There are legitimate Sovereign Citizens I think. But they don't live in communities amongst thousands of people. It's a lazy person that wants all the benefits of living in a developed society and doesn't want to follow the laws that are there to keep the peace and ensure that society continues to exist. It's "I have rights and no responsibility". I think this is specific to 1st world countries.

I've seen videos of judges also basically admitting to it, without fully stating it on the record, and dropping charges so there is no evidence of him ruling in a traveler's favor. If you can articulate it all properly and be honorable with the judge, he will respect you taking the time to actually learn the law and always reserving your rights. If you don't reserve your rights, you waive them. People that go down for trying this, do not properly reserve their rights. Because once you state that you are doing so, if you are denied your rights, that's when the police or judge can be liable and in big trouble.

Think about this: you could ride a horse without a license, a horse and buggy without a license (The Amish do it every day) but not a motor vehicle. @@SpeakAllowed1984 It's NOT an "encroachment". As citizens and residents of entities called "states", we come to a consensus about what activities will be allowed within the entity. We make this known and manifest through a republican form of democratic self government.
      Now how much will be allowed and what will be allowed is a matter of community standards and values. For example, Clark County in Nevada allows gambling but not prostitution. In some state counties, you can't buy alcohol (so called "dry" counties), in others, you can. Again, a matter of consensus.
      IMO, the error that so called "libertarians" make is their belief that individuals operate in a vacuum; that their individual actions don't affect anyone else. Sen. Rand Paul found out that's not the case the hard way with his neighbor. While this country does emphasize individual rights, they're not absolute. There are limits. So, my advice (such as it is), is to seek out neighbors and try to change minds and reach a new consensus that can be agreed upon that expand these "liberties" and "rights".

      it's not necessarily a CONSPIRACY movement. you don't have to believe all that gold standard stuff to know that driving is an obvious RIGHT, not a privilege.
      to move and travel freely is the very ESSENCE of liberty. without freedom of movement, no other rights can be fully exercised.
      "no person shall be... deprived of life, liberty, or property, without due process of law". that means the government cannot prevent you from traveling, by means of your own personal property, unless they prove via due process of the law that you're doing something illegal.
      making it ILLEGAL for anyone to travel via their own private property, unless and until they meet any and all government restraints on every aspect of that travel, is a de facto deprivation of liberty.
      further, conditioning travel upon consent to being summarily detained without cause at any given moment by government is de facto deprivation of liberty. it is the exact OPPOSITE of liberty- it is forcing innocent citizens to forfeit their right to liberty, and many other basic rights, without any due process. for example, requiring you to identify yourself to government for the purpose of investigating you, without any reasonable suspicion, solely because you are traveling via your own personal property, is a violation of every aspect of due process.
      private cars are how americans get where they're going. it's usually the ONLY way to get where you're going. and if you are deprived of getting where you need to be, you are deprived of everything else you have the right to do.
      to understand why government required permission for EVERY ASPECT of private travel on public roads is such a huge violation- no, NEGATION- of liberty, imagine it was 200 years ago and you were riding your horse instead of driving your car, and just by virtue of riding the horse, HAVING DONE NOTHING ILLEGAL, you can at any moment be stopped and questioned by the law- identification? license? registration? title? insurance? vin? where ya headed? ...ridiculous to imagine.
      weirder yet, imagine that, in order to legally ride your horse, you had to obtain government permission (and pay them) to own the horse, and seperate permission and payment to ride that particular horse, and seperate permission and payment for you yourself to ride ~any~ horse.
      ask yourself, why do you have to 're-register' your car every year?
      why do you have to get a new license every few years?
      why do you have to turn over your title and have a new one issued whenever you move to another state?

      I consider it a conspiracy movement because the foundational principles are based on a belief that they can renounce citizenship from a Federal corporation that doesn't exist OR that they believe, falsely, that they can selectively reject portions of the Constitution based on some pretty wild interpretations of legal precedent. Being that they are essentially anti-federalist anarchists, some of their government end goals are very similar to small government libertarian minded people. There's nothing inherently wrong with those end goals; however, the way sovereign citizen true believers go about those goals, for instance by separating themselves from the so-called corporate "strawman entity," are completely unsound.
      To put it another way, the sovereign citizen movement is a trap for libertarians. Like other conspiracy theories it creates false simplified explanations for the situation we find ourselves in and, even worse, it proports to offer a solution. Their legal argument is completely baseless and has resulted in serious legal consequences for some of the people who buy into their movement.
      This is different from intentional civil disobedience. People who intentionally break the laws to draw attention to what they see as unjust are making an educated decision and knowingly putting themselves at risk to further their cause. As long as they do not deprive liberty from anyone else, I don't really hold any ill will against people for civil disobedience, they know what they are getting into. Sovereign citizens are not making an educated decision to break the law in order to change it. They are operating on a mistaken belief that they have discovered a sound legal argument in defense of their principles and they suffer needlessly for it. Ultimately their goal of greater personal liberty is undermined by a perpetuation of false beliefs.
      (Side note: I don't entirely believe in removing Driver's licenses but I do agree that the State far outsteps their mandate to enforce public safety in the sheer number of personal liberties they demand we "voluntarily" give up in order to be licensed. It should be treated as a right, not a privilege. That said, your horse example: a man being stopped and questioned where he was going, why, and whose horse he was riding? ABSOLUTLEY something that would have happened all the time in historical community-level policing. Especially if you were a stranger. Residents and whatever passed for law enforcement (bailiff, sheriff, townswatch, ext...) would be very invested in knowing why you were riding through their town/city/on the kings road ext...)

      @@Felcaster great analysis. as i said, the weird conspiracy part, and the end result, is indeed fruitless and twisted.
      that said, i... {ahem}... hate to beat a dead horse, but no frontiersman would cotton to having to produce government papers showing the horse belongs to him, another paper to prove the horse has government permission to be on the roads, another paper to show that the government is allowing him to ride his horse, etc. i'm gonna go ahead and say it: i would imagine that they would reckon they were being approached like a slave.
      we should be issued a license to drive, which should be permanent unless and until it is revoked for cause. we should get title once per vehicle no matter where we move- the way it stands, being forced to turn over your title to have a new state title it, feels like we are giving the state legal claim to our car. we should not need to 'register' the same car over and over- or at all. i worked at dmv in one of my lives and i still don't see the point or need to 'register' the same car every year.
      most importantly, we should not have to give up one ounce of property or privacy rights, or any other rights, while on the road. we literally pass only at the pleasure of an array of government agencies out there trying to pick us off the road. it's insane how eroded our constitutional rights have become. people don't know and don't care- until it affects them.

    • @Felcaster
      @Felcaster 3 ปีที่แล้ว +5

      Thanks. Please beat as many dead horses as you need, I'm always happy to learn.
      I hear what you are saying, but I do not know if I would consider American western pioneers as an example of a functional government. They are a pretty diverse group, but I agree that a lot of them were fundamentally opposed to government oversight and taxation for various political or religious reasons. They weren't exactly sanctioned so much as they just stayed ahead of Federal government oversight. They actually created a lot of headaches: Violating Native American land treaties and then getting bailed out by the Federal military; Californian gold prospectors disrespecting individual land grants; Illinoisans lynching Mormons; anything to do with slavery; ext...
      That's besides the point though. I'm picking up what you are putting down, the vehicle licensing that so many people accept as the norm is in fact a very recent and invasive invention.
      I have nothing to add to your breakdown of what State licensing laws should be. I agree. I worked as a compliance manager for a repossession company in the past. There *are* laws that treat vehicles as private property, we followed them when RV's or trailer homes were being used as someone's primary residence. That was rare, but it was a perfect example of how it is fully possible to enforce an individual's rights; a corporation's rights (like a bank loan); and the State's obligation to protect public safety, without requiring Citizens to surrender any essential rights.

    What? Why would you even think that?

    • @SomeKata
      @SomeKata 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      someone had to file for the video release, for some reason, someone did do that. the most common reason would be a complaint about the circumstance, however the entire video seems positive. it's very likely it was mr. gardiner, but probably not to complain. it's unironically probably for his own collection of 'evidence', he believes he is essentially his own nation, and would need it to defend himself and add to his profiled manifesto for future arguments and examples of his 'exemption'. Sovereign citizens are the karens of the legal system, he is somewhat delusional despite being polite and kind, and so demanding to have a copy of the police officers bodycam even with no incident is completely in the norm for them. ATA is referencing why the video exists at all with that statement, it's not a coincidence most police interactions recorded and released are negative, they are intended for scrutiny itself, and so when someone files for the camera footage of an interaction like this, to some degree, you do have to wonder why. It's not like the police released it.
