How did they do this in 1978? Was it a screen? I think they had 125,098 less item variations to worry about. “Here’s your burger, fries and soda, now get the fuck outa here!” I miss that.
The burgers weren’t made to order back then, they just grabbed your burger from the slide. If you made a special request you better be prepared to wait.
I work at a McDonald’s. For 2 large smoothies on the machine there is a button after you select the flavour that says multiple. This would have let you make both larges at the same time.
Watching this brings back memories of when I used to work at McDonald’s. Starting as a crewperson in 1982 and worked off and on up the ranks to 1st Assistant Manager for McOpCo stores then for franchisees as a Swing Manager until I stopped for good in 1994. Definitely not the same as it was back then but still have the basics like the window steps when taking orders (suggestive sales is consistent with this fellow), cleaning and restocking as you go, etc. it’s been 30 years since my last McD’s gig. Wonder if I could still do it when I become a retiree lols.
As someone who is a huge fan of fast food but also very paranoid about food safety, I Love seeing the constant cleaning! I would go to your McDonald’s anytime. 👍
Ngl working at this pace at the store I work for I would've been fired on day one. Yes, we are overworked and underpaid, but we need a paycheck so we have to do it.
it seems that smoothies are as popular at your stores as Biscuits and Gravy are at Stephen Patula's stores.oh and that "Welcome to Tim Horton's" had me ROFLMAO!
the bar towel fold below the register at 5:28 hit me with a crazy sense of deja vu. As simple as it seems i did those exact movements and words in the same sequence hundreds of times.

i must be tripping but your location looks exactly like my one but mine just opened a little bit ago, it wouldve been so cool if i worked where you did lol
“Clean as you go” was a big mantra when I worked at McDonald’s in the 80’s and 90’s. I always had a freaking cleaning cloth in my hands. “When you got time to lean, you got time to clean.”
@@ki11aqueen5 well they probably have the window at that station constantly open so they can’t really do a whole lot about that. Also most restaurants have way nastier stuff then flies

MY ISSUES WITH MCDONALDS: 1) They put sandwiches in the bag sideways. It doesn't take a smart person to know that's a bad idea. 2) Many stores have a greeting that plays on the drive thru when someone pulls up. Ours says welcome to MCDONALDS will you be using the rewards app today? It's not my business as a customer to know its a recording. I answer yes. The person comes on and says how can I help you. WTF? Why not just have it say welcome to MCDONALDS if every cashier isn't going to play along. 3) The timer system Installed in stores is expensive and designed to let the supervisor and area manager know drive thru speeds. When you serve off a car when they haven't really been served you are lying to every manager. It defeats the purpose of even having that system.
I can answer a few things for you. The sideways problem is a thing that I've been guilty of having it happen. It's not on purpose (although some do) and when you have to bag orders fast and repetitively things can happen. Should it happen? No! It just does sometimes. About the automatic greeters. At the store that I work at, we have it in place and most of our customers know it's a greeter and will wait until one of us greets them. Corporate wants us to have it enabled, but it becomes more of an inconvenience than anything else. Yes, I'll agree with you about the timer thing. It's cheating! I've made it clear to others, but they don't care because I am the underpaid crew member. If you want to show you can make food fast then actually do it and not cheat your way through it. In the end, corporate allows it and I'm only there to earn a paycheck so I do what I'm told.
I have no problem with the automatic greeting but think it's vital to simply have it greet with no questions. Welcome to MCDONALDS, we will be with you shortly. Instead of Welcome to MCDONALDS, are you using the mobile app today. Then the customer stupidly answers, yes, waits and waits for a response only to have someone come on and say, can I take your order now? I feel like I was talking to a wall. I'm simply saying that the automatic greetings should always ever make a statement. No questions that promote and answer. While we are on the subject of all drive thrus isn't it strange that the second you pull up to the menu someone comes on and says can I take your order. Imagine going to a restaurant and right as you open the menu, that second, the server says can I take your order? It's nice to have time to decide what you want. I think its over assumed that people just know what they want already. @@Big_Flubba
@@paiddj3397 I'm not saying I don't agree with you, but corporate rides our asses over promoting their app so they can collect and sell your data while also making you addicted to fake foods.
