- THE distraught father of freed hostage Emily Hand has told how she was forced to run in her Disney pyjamas through gunfights in besieged Gaza.
The traumatised nine-year-old now speaks in whispers after being ordered to stay silent by evil gun-toting thugs for 50 days and nights.
The sparkle in the Beyonce fan’s blue eyes has also dimmed after she lost more than half a stone during her terrifying ordeal.
But her tearful dad Tom, 63, yesterday pledged to dedicate the rest of his life to his brave little girl’s recovery - as she posed for a heartbreaking snap peeking from behind a giant teddy.
Tom told The Sun in his first interview since she walked free: “I’ll do whatever it takes to get Emily back to where she was. Her chubby cheeks may have gone but she’s smiling again now she’s safe.

The world cried for the both of them! I felt his pain during those first anguished interviews. Then I also felt immense joy when she finally made it back! So happy for the both of them! Can only wish the same for the rest of the hostage families.
But also very sad for the 3000 babies and 12000 man and women killed in gaza.

Imagine the depth of her trauma. Her biological mother died of cancer when she was 2, then the brutal catastrophe of 7 October and her terrifying ordeal of being kidnapped. Her close friend’s mother being there for her throughout their captivity only to be taken away two days before her release, then to eventually come home to learn that her loving step-mother was murdered and that their oasis-like home and community have been ravaged. Pray for their complete healing from all this trauma and for them to rebuild their lives and community. May they rise in strength from the ashes.
It's all true what you said - and i appreciate you deep and sensitive thoughts.
Just one thing i would add that this little girl has the most amazing and loving father and he loves his little daughter more than anything in the whole world. And however much she went through if she remains cognizant of that, and hangs onto it with all her might, she got all the reason to be a rich and happy child who will grow flourish into a happy, fulfilled and succesful adult and human being.
I also think the fathers original statement about he was happier that she was dead than in hands of Hamas is going to go down in history as one of the most iconic and profound expressions of love that has ever been expressed by one human being for another.
Than G-d they are back together. We cried with you in saddness and now we cry with you in happiness.

This girl was taken care of, not abused, nor frightened (by the fighters). Lack of food? Guess why? Ah yes no food, nor water , medication or fuel Israel allowed in. And according to several hostages, the fighters were sharing the available food equaly with their prisonners. If i'm told my daughter was dead, then suddenly get her back healthy and smiling with no scars or evident heavy psy trauma, i would be a bit happier/grateful than him. When Tom came to our London prayer vigil (for the hostages & war dead,) here in London, he mentioned Emily had already been thro. other loss/ trauma in her short life
eg her mum died of cancer...
I lost my mum suddenly at the age of 9... (many decades ago now.)... Much later trained in healing & a form of counselling...
How I would love to meet Tom & Emily, & speak to them about how G-d has helped me on this healing journey...

Little Emily has a truly wonderful devoted father. She is clearly his entire purpose. She is not okay and will not be for a very long time, but she has a truly fierce advocate and protecter and it will serve her so well in her recovery and throughout her life. I hope for the world for them both and for every single innocent life affected.

My grandson was abused, physically, emotionally and mentally by his father and the woman he was with. When we rescued him, He refused to be called by his name and insisted everyone call him Paxton. Trauma makes them distance themselves in the only way they can . He was 8yrs.... He's in counselling now and with a loving foster family. I hope Emily gets the counseling she needs. Wales Britain.

@@Anicius_ It was this year and he was 9 in July. If anyone mentions his father or the woman who lived with them he would curl up on the floor and bark like a dog. It was so sad but now is life is fantastic and he's loved and cared for. His father is going to court to appeal but he's got no chance.
This story was crazy. It was gut wrenching to hear him a month ago say he was happy that she was dead, back when he thought she was. I was shocked and cried when I saw that she was actually alive. I can’t imagine the relief of her father. It is so relieving that she is mostly ok. I just hope they didn’t do anything to her.

The embrace she got both from her father and sister were so warm, we could feel the deep conection and love they nourish for each other. Even the dogs were so happy. I wish all the best for this family ❤!

It's not at all a lie someone says to cope with the situation, not at all. It's a deep wish; you are led to let go someone you love so dearly and to hope that they will never reach a stage when their pain will become too much for them to bear.

Hila was released at the same time as Emily. Hilas mother, however was not and is still a hostage.
Hila was released to her Uncle as her father was murdered on 10-7 by the Isis Hamas.
