I am exceptionally certain that you were NOT my last night's date, so why the blather at start of a movie video? `Is it the innate Brexit energy repelling anything German in a totally not racist way?´
One thing that I did actually like about Spectre was that Blofeld's cat wasn't just on his lap, it was just lying around in the torture room, totally relaxed in a sunbeam. That was kind of cute... it does mean that Bond blew it up tho.
1. Casino Royale 2. Skyfall 3. No Time to Die 4. Spectre 5. Quantum of Solace Casino is just the quintessential Bond movie. Skyfall was just great. No Time to Die was a good ending point, finished the Craig era well though I wish he had better chemistry with his baby-momma. Spectre was too much while still being too boring. And Quantum was just plain boring.
The big disconnect with SPECTRE and NO TIME TO DIE is that we never understand why Bond becomes smitten with Madeleine Swann so quickly and unreservedly. She's cute, but you could make a case that practically any Bond girl of the Craig era -- Vesper, Solange, Camille, Sévérine, Lucia, or Paloma -- had better chemistry with Bond and made a stronger impression than Dr. Swann. Seydoux is fine in the role but what makes Madeleine so special that allows Bond to forget Vesper and rethink his future? Moreover, Moneypenny and Nomi lit bigger sparks with Bond in their secondary roles than the good doctor did as the primary love interest, and that's especially problematic as NO TIME TO DIE attempts to ratchet up the drama in the final act.
@@gkroll8467 how is it woke? Black woman being 007 is not the same as black woman being Bond. Bond and 007 are completely different things. 007 is the code name, Bond is the name
A one take doesn't always have to be a big action set-piece. What I saw in the one take in Spectre, was it setting the scene and atmosphere, the action after it will take place in. To me, its primary function is literally to be an opening scene to get us back into James Bond, "Bond doing Bond shit" (I mean that's what I want from a Bond film). Compare it with the Copacabana one take in Goodfellas, nothing happens there either but it provides atmosphere and a certain feeling you wouldn't get with it having several cuts. Of course, the one take in Goodfellas is a bit better imo, but it shows that a one take can have different functions and convey different things.
1. Casino Royale/Quantum of Solace 2. Skyfall 3.Spectre No Time To Die I love everything about Quantum. The song, the ruthlessness of Bond, his struggle with heartbreak, the title meaning, Ulga, Dominic Green, the only villain without typical scarred face. Although he wasn’t the main villain Bond was. Clues in the title. Quantum: least amount of energy invested in an interaction. Solace: comfort or consolation. Get it? Well I did, the frenetic camera work was meant to mirror his state of mind
1. Casino Royale 2. No Time To Die 3. Skyfall 4. Quantum of Solace 5. Spectre I like all these films, I think they're all a fun watch. Spectre should be higher, but once they hit Blofeld's desert base it falls off a cliff for me, however do still think a lot of your criticisms are misplaced as well as just a little melodramatic. Quantum was written during production due to the writers strike, so it's amazing that it's as coherent as it is when it's not written by writers (especially when well-paid writers can still fuck films up), but that doesn't push it up the rankings because the look and style are gone from CR, the editing is choppy and it doesn't carry as much fun as the three ahead of it. Skyfall is great, but I feel like the action declines over the movie. No Time To Die has the best action as a whole and nicely blends the old Bond style to the Craig era, but Casino Royale has a place in my heart of being the first I ever saw and the one I grew up with.
I grew up with goldeneye. I still think casino royale is the best bond. Skyfall and goldeneye are close, and connery’s first 4 are great. Quantum is meh, but it’s basically the second part of casino royale. Spectre had potential, but you’re right, takes a nose dive starting in the desert. It’s interesting to me how Skyfall has fallen a little from fan favor. It’s a beautiful movie.
Fair. I'll make one point though, if you watch CS back to back with QS they work so much better as a 2 parter (albeit with QS the weaker part). Most people waited a 1-2 years between them and QoS suffers from that. I like to think of them as one very long story.
Sooooo underrated. The version of Bond in this movie is hard as fuck, he's suave and cool like always but he's out for revenge like never before. It's the tragedy at the end of Casino Royale's natural evolution. And then at the end he gets a good arc and moves on. A lot of it because of the bond girl
Quantum is actually not a bad Bond film IF you watch it immediately after Casino, Quantum's major problem is that it is probably the worst edited film for a movie with that kind of budget, and it's incredible no one could see it and get another editor to take over.
THANK YOU! Quantum was massively entertaining, albeit terribly edited in the action sequences. That’s it though, it was a surprisingly heartfelt continuation. Spectre? Boring, ugly, and bland.
I think it's safe to say that No Time to Die is the modern equivalent of On Her Majesty's Secret Service. I think eon productions really nailed it with this one, and over time many people will look back at this film fondly as this is the one film, where James Bond died.
I think if I was to treat them as films in themselves, I would rank them like this: 1. Casino Royale, by far 2. Skyfall 3. No Time To Die, close behind 4. Spectre, waaaaaaaaay further down 5. Quantum of Solace If I was to treat them as part of this series with ""one"" continuous story, I would switch Quantum of Solace and Spectre, funnily enough. As bad as a movie QoS is by itself, at least it continues (and ends) some threads from CR, and has some continuity when it comes to Bond. Spectre is just disappointing throughout, both as a story with its pacing etc, but especially so when it comes to Blofeld. At least No Time To Die tied him up in the Madeleine and Bond storyline in a more satisfactory way...
12:26 Give Radiohead’s “Spectre” theme a listen, it’s far superior to the Sam Smith one that was chosen, Radiohead were originally commissioned to write the theme, but it was rejected for being too dark… It‘a an absolute masterpiece and it’s an outrage than Writings on the Wall was chosen instead 🙄 There’s even chips of the whole title sequence edited to Radiohead’s theme and it works so well 👌🏼
I find the rejection of Radiohead’s Bond theme very frustrating, especially when No Time To Die feels like the love child of Spectre and Writing’s On The Wall in its cadence and tone.
To be fair to Craig in Spectre...if you watch Becoming Bond, Craig admits that his broken leg had a huge impact on his performance in it, it's why he was so miserable
-My ranking- 5. Quantum of Solace- 2.5/10 “Only bad film in the Daniel Craig’s era. Horrible editing, characters, and very very VERY MESSY STORY- I mean jesus I was constantly looking at the time stamp even though it is the SHORTEST out of all Daniel Craig’s movie. Fuck this movie and if you enjoyed it- I envy you ;-;” 4. Spectre- 5.5/10 “This movie is so…so odd. Because even though it’s slow pace- It was very VERY entertaining. The action scenes were pretty good! And I even liked the idea of Spectre organization being behind it all- but omg. That third act. Is the worst third act I’ve seen in a while. It is so underwhelming and so stupid. Without that third act- it would’ve been great. Now with that third act- This movie is just above average.” 3. No Time To Die- 7.5/10 “The most emotional out of the Daniel Craig era, and probably the most boldest. The pre title scene was perfect and the third act was almost perfect. And the second act does drag but it wasn’t that bad- it was at least sprinkled with fun character moments and action scenes! Also this movie was 2 hours and 43 minute and it felt like 2 hours. However, the villain’s plan was honestly nonsensical. Like jesus- personal to fucking the world? Also yeah the second act did drag a little bit. But without that it’s pretty great movie!” 2. Casino Royale- 8.5/10 “This- is technically a best film out of the Daniel Craig era. It is paced so well and it’s so SO FUN! Also Vasper is one of the best character in the entire series. The casino scenes were so good and tension filled even though I had no idea what was going on. And that ending. Oh my god- it gave me filmgasm.” 1. Skyfall- 9/10 “This is my personal favorite. Just absolute master work of James Bond formula. M and Bond’s relationship was outstanding, and the villain is the best out of all Craig era. The film looks gorgeous and the action scenes are TOP NOTCH. And even at the third act the pacing get’s bit slow, it was necessary to dive into James’s past and M’s guilt…Without some questionable things James does to a sex slave…This is almost a perfect spy thriller for me.” EXTRA RANKING- Villain Ranking: 6. Main villain of Quantum of Solace- I already forgot his name- 5. Blofeld (Spectre) 4. Safin 3. Blofeld (No Time To Die) His one scene in that movie was so SO intimidating… 2. Le Chiffre 1. Raoul Silva Pre Title Scene Ranking: 5. Quantum of Solace 4. Spectre 3. Casino Royale 2. Skyfall 1. No Time To Die Ranking title sequence 5. Quantum of Solace 4. Spectre 3. Casino Royale 2. No Time To Die 1. Skyfall Ranking Final Battle 5. Spectre 4. Quantum of Solace 3. Casino Royale 2. Skyfall 1. No Time To Die
Casino Royale is THE Bond movie, but Skyfall will always hold a special place in my heart. My dad's a big Bond fan, and made me one, too. Only difference is "his" Bond is Connery, and "mine" is Craig. I've seen Goldfinger and From Russia with Love once, and I've seen all the Craig movies multiple times. The homage paid to previous eras of Bond made it really special to see in the theater with my dad. It was that perfect moment where the lines between generations blur and vanish for a few hours. As for Bond dying in NTTD, I wasn't too surprised. One of the major themes of Craig's Bond was self-destruction in the pursuit of good. After Vesper dies, Bond is on auto-pilot until he hits a wall and something or someone kills him. I just hope they don't reboot 007 as some sort of cinematic universe. They flirted with the idea with Spectre, it didn't work, and I'm hoping the studio picks up the hint and returns to making standalone movies like Casino Royale.
I actually thought Michael Scott’s character would be a red herring because of how blatant it was that he was a villain. Like Mallory, where you weren’t sure he’d be an ally or a problem in Skyfall.
QoS is SOOO underrated. I think it’s only real issue is that it hedges its bets on the ongoing story arc. They should have just let Bond defeat Mr. White and end the revenge for Vesper story in that movie.
Yes! QoS is an underappeciated gem. It has some great action scenes and a genuine character arc for Bond which we're shown rather than told, something sorely lacking in the later films. For me CraigBond is the complex and interesting character we see in CR and QoS. Everything after that is an inferior reboot.
I think the best thing about these movies as a... Quintilogy? Is seeing bond gain all these layers of suave callousness, but always maintaining that Gooey core that made him fall for Vespa, that made him cry when M died, and finally made him die protecting his own progeny. Still bond, but a bond who is caught between the brutality of the job, and the emotions of an actual human being.
That is the perfect way to put it. I don't think the filmmakers entirely succeeded , but the theme of brutality vs. Bond's softer heart was a great one and Daniel Craig was the perfect actor to portray that.
1) Casino Royale I mean what else? Casino Royale is not just one of the best Bond movies it's one of the best movies of all time, successfully rebooting a thought dead franchise and bringing it back to life, the acting is great, the story is great, villain: check, Bond: check, Bond girl: check, and that ending!!!! 2) Skyfall This was actually the first Bond film I ever watched, and I'm glad it was, Skyfall is a very great and entertaining film and is a great anniversary film for the franchise, the film looks gorgeous, with Roger Deakins doing some of his best work, the acting is great, the story is good, even if it does lean too much into The Dark Knight still great all around 3) No Time To Die The swan song for Daniel Craig is nonstop from beginning to end, though Safin was a weak villain and the 2nd act drags a bit, it still serves as a satisfying conclusion and emotional ending for one of the best Bond eras 4) Quantum of Solace Now I originally was very hard on this film but watching it now, I can forgive some of it's flaws, since it was written during the writers strike they didn't have as much time and resources as the others did, the action is entertaining, the story is meh, but it works really well with Casino Royale 5) Spectre My, my, what a missed opportunity, they wasted such a great premise and actors in this movie, the acting is terrible, the writing is bad, the film looks ugly, and the 3rd act is horrendous
I’ve been getting into Bond this year, all of it. I wasn’t as fussed on Craig initially, I found it too gritty and not fun enough, But Skyfall onwards and I’ve really come to love his Bond. Skyfall is awesome. As for other Bond, my favourite Bond is Roger Moore and Timothy Dalton
Calling it now, a few years from now when there’s a new James Bond, people in the comments will be going “the franchise should have ended with no time to die, it was a perfect send off”
1) Skyfall - maybe it’s because it was the first Bond film I watched but I think it is the best Craig Bond film due to it capturing the essence of Bond whilst also being a well paced, easy to follow story for new viewers. 2) Casino Royale - in reality, this is 1b. Casino Royale, much like Skyfall, perfectly captures the essence of Bond whilst also giving us a vulnerable Bond that is just starting out which makes him more relatable and engaging for the audience. 3) No Time To Die - I found this a tough one to rank. It had a more cohesive story than Spectre & QOS with less action that we’ve grown accustomed to with the Craig Bond films but it makes sense given that Bond is now the “old man”. 4) Spectre - had Spectre not been tied down by its insistence to create links to the previous Craig Bond films then maybe this film would’ve been looked at more favourably. Even without this however, the film for me is a tale of a promising 1st half and a slightly underwhelming 2nd half. 5) Quantum of Solace - a film that you can tell it had unfinished script. There was no clear cohesive or engaging plot which is why I ranked it as the worst.
With spectre, I think I've seen the movie. I'm not sure though because every time I try to remember something from it I can't. But with casino Royale, I KNOW I've seen it. I haven't seen it since I was a young kid and I can still remember certain scenes.
5. Quantum of solace - I have only seen this bond film once and for good reason. It's the shortest out of the bunch yet ironically feels the longest. It was an absolute chore to get through. 4. Spectre - I don't really get the hate behind this one. Maybe I enjoyed it more as I watched this one right after I watched Quantum. I overall found it an enjoyable bond film with certainly better action than Quantum From here on out, I love all of these movies for many different reasons and can change how I rank them depending on how I feel that day. 3. Casino Royal - I enjoyed this one a lot but it did feel a little slow and boring at times. However, this one has a special place in my heart. 2. Skyfall - once again, another good bond film with a good plot that makes some risky decisions that do pay off 1. No time to die - a good end to Daniel Craig's era. I don't think the plot was as good as Casino and Skyfall but, this one is special as it's an end of an era
Daniel Craig is the Christian Bale of the Bond Franchise. His Bond films are The Dark Knight Trilogy of the franchise. Craig made Bond, dark, gritty and a believable character again. He brought the franchise back to it's roots. Just like Christian Bale and Christopher Nolan did with the Batman character. Casino Royale is the Bond version of Batman Begins. It gave fresh new life to the Bond Franchise, and brought it back from the goofiness and the over the top galore of Die Another Day. Just like Batman Begins did it after the backlash with Batman & Robin. Craig made the Bond films, dark, believable and realistic again. Also you could say that No Time to Die is the Bond version of The Dark Knight Rises. As Bond sacrifices himself to save the world just like Batman did it in The Dark Knight Rises. Both the Bond and Batman films have had a similar evolution in tone and depiction. By initially starting off as dark and gritty, then becoming camp and over the top. Then becoming dark, grounded, realistic and serious in tone again.
To be fair I don’t think Spectre’s meant to be suspenseful, it’s just a nice fun time chilling with Bond as he walks around and does stuff. Ignoring the poor Blofeld reveal, it’s decent imo but I can see that people find it boring. It’s much more like an old Sean Connery Bond film. I think Skyfall, Spectre and No Time To Die work better if you’ve seen and liked the older Bond films.
Wrong. I love Connery Bond and while he is more chilled out, Craig has none of the charm of Connery. He is just a downer in every scene. Casino royal and Skyfall was the only watchable Craig movies IMO.
@TheRealRogerEbert the Connery films aren’t just one thing, I was being more broad. There’s the Terence Young trilogy of standard Connery films, you only live twice has a volcano and crazy stuff and Blofeld, Goldfinger and diamonds are forever are both very different directed by Guy Hamilton. I just meant that the newer Craig films have more references to them. For example, there’s the typical train fight in Spectre, No Time To Die references On Her Majesty’s, etc.
To be honest I did find the Sean Connery bond films to be boring I can’t lie they were campy compared to todays day and age though I understand there’s been a huge cultural shift since then.
1. Skyfall 2. No Time To Die 3. Casino Royale 4. Spectre 5. Quantum of Solace The top 3 are honestly hard to rank for me, their all about even in quality to me
Favorite Theme: 1.) "You Know My Name" 2.) "Skyfall" 3.) "No Time To Die" 4.) "Writing On The Wall" 5.) "Another Way To Die" Opening Titles: 1.) Casino Royale 2.) Skyfall 3.) No Time To Die 4.) Quantum of Solace 5.) Spectre Overall Film: 1.) Casino Royale 2.) No Time To Die 3.) Skyfall 4.) Quantum of Solace 5.) Spectre I thought No Time To Die was extremely fun and the first time since Quantum of Solace where Daniel Craig felt like he wanted to be there and really give a great performance. Lots of emotion and memorable points, definitely bold. And Casino Royale, I mean, it's just lightning in a bottle. It's one of those rare movies that did everything perfectly IMO. It's fast when it needs to be, funny when it needs to be, slow when it needs to be, the story is well written and a faithful modern take on the Ian Fleming novel, the villain is great, Vesper is just absolutely incredible and her dynamic with Bond is so damn well done, the film is shot beautifully, the theme kicks so much ass, the gunbarrel was really fucking smart with the way they fit it into the story, I could just gush about it for days. Casino Royale isn't just my all time favorite Bond film; it's one of my favorite films ever in general.
I only noticed this after marathoning all the Craig films, but all the villains leading to Blofeld had a color name, with White, Greene and Silva. I think the seeds were always there for the "it's all connected" twist, but it could've been delivered better.
It'll be interesting to see how the next Bond film picks up. The movie series has never had much of a solid "canon" so will they start with a fresh slate that they can properly develop over a decade+?
I feel like you underestimate the feeling you can get from the drill scene in Spectre. Seeing that makes me imagine it, and makes me feel a little sick. The balls are more relatable, but less I-want-to-claw-my-eyes-out.
It feels like Daniel Craig's run is completely separate from the "main line" of movies. Sure Judi Dench is back as M but everything else is reset, hes only just been made a OO agent at the start of Casino Royale, he's never heard of SPECTRE or Blofeld (again ignoring all that came before). I keep expecting the TVA to turn up and prune his timeline 🤣
@@fantasticmrfox81 I agree. The...final event was a fitting end to this Bond's run (though I think it could have been done better). It wouldn't have been suitable for any of the pre-Craig Bonds.

@@williamvalentine7087 it’s all personal opinion. I loved No Time to Die, and while Casino Royale was great, and I understand the love for it, it’s just not one that I would personally rewatch by itself. Skyfall and No Time to Die have much more memorable and engaging plots to me (although No Time to Die did have a VERY weak villain).
@@drawde_064 it’s all subjective opinion but still wrong nonetheless. Casino royale is the superior Craig bond movie and there’s no question about that. Skyfall is a very close second but the rest pale in comparison. That’s not opinion. You just enjoy bad movies.
Movie Rankings: 1. Skyfall 2. Casino Royals 3. No Time to Die 4. Spectre 5. Quantum of Solace Skyfall I believe it the perfect balance of everything new Bond & old Bond had to offer. I believe the stakes are there, the villain is wonderful & mirrors what Bond could become, M is magnificent m, & the pacing was superb. I can watch it all the time & not get tired of it. Casino Royale hooked me to Bond. The action might just be the most epic with all the raw chasing & physical demands. Everything about the story was excellent. The betrayal hurt… It established that this new Bond was going to make a lasting impression. Also, this Bond was raw & new so of course he made many more mistakes. No Time to Die is a wonderful send off. Beautifully cathartic is the death at the end but also just the story flow. I was intrigued to see how Bond would end & it was the perfect ending. Poetic that he had to sacrifice himself to keep the his toxicity away from his loving family… Spectre is underrated to me. I think it is a very good Bond film. Loved the opening set one shot so much. This showed us a mature, confident, & patient Bond. I think Spectre & Blofeld was handle well. Everything came back to Blofeld… Everything came back to Spectre. Quantum was Spectre, Silva was Spectre, Le Chife & the terrorist organization was Spectre… It really doesn’t hurt the plot to me. Makes the stakes higher. Quantum of Solace is the most Bourne-esque of all the films. The writer’s strike messed this one up but over all, I enjoyed the action pieces. I like that it was Bond at his most hinged & vulnerable… Showing us the depths of which these 00s go through. Theme rankings: 1. Skyfall 2. You Know My Name 3. Writings on the Wall 4. No Time to Die 5. Another Way to Die
1 - Casino Royale (Not just my favorite Bond movie. But one of my favorite movies ever) 2 - Skyfall (A totally worthy follow up that successfully merges modern trends with classic Bond tropes and a uniquely emotionally gripping plot. 3 - Quantum of Solace (It's underrated, but entertaining. I wish the Writer's Strike hadn't burned it, but the pieces were there. 4 - Spectre (It is convoluted and dumb, and completely wastes cast members that were born to play these roles. The attempt to link to previous movies was just laughable. They clearly didn't think this story arc out and just slapped continuity onto this stuff for no reason) 5 - No Time To Die (As I was waiting for this overlong mind numbingly boring movie to end, I was retroactively appreciated Spectre more. This is more just more Spectre but worse, and Bond's death was so ****ing cheap).
My take: 1. Casino Royale 2. Skyfall 3. Quantum of Solace 4. SPECTRE 5. No Time to Die (too woke for me). What the critics seem to think: 1. Casino Royale 2. Skyfall 3. No Time to Die 4. Quantum of Solace/SPECTRE

We really needed to see Roger Moore in Casino Royale getting his testicles whacked - he would just raise an eyebrow. " _No use going off half-cocked_ ...."
Craig Bond Songs: 1. Spectre (great song that should have been kept in the film) 2. No Time To Die (banger) 3. You know my name (banger) 4. Skyfall (banger but the lyrics are a bit meaningless) 5. Writing’s on the wall (good) 6. Another way to die (starts off with a nice guitar style thing like Casino Royale… and then they start rapping or something and it’s terrible.) The No Time To Die title sequence wasn’t amazing but it’s not bad like you say. The other title sequences are all very good. Films: 1. No Time To Die (more flawed and messy than Casino Royale but I love it and it’s the only one I saw in the cinema!) 2. Casino Royale 3. Skyfall (very close to Casino Royale for me) 4. Spectre 5. Quantum of Solace Villains: 1. Silva (great character, great performance) 2. Le Chiffre (great character, great performance) 3. Safin (not a great character but a great VILLAIN and that opening scene is scary!) 4. Blofeld (bad in Spectre but awesome in NTTD) 5. Dominic Greene
Gonna pick at this: the merger (12:56) is a real thing that was announced before Spectre released, so they incorporated it into the film. Not saying it’s exciting, like, but it is legit.
1. Skyfall 2. No Time To Die 3. Casino Royale 4. Spectre 5. Quantum of Solace I know Casino Royale is in 3 bc i didnt like how they killed the villian before the last action sequence idk it just bothers me
For me it’s 5. Quantum of Solace 4. Spectre 3. No time to die 2. Casino royale 1. Skyfall For me the intro to spectre is my favorite love the Sam smith theme song
Totally agree with your high ranking of QoS, though I'd still put Casino first. Against all odds (writers strike, rushed production, some awful editing) QoS delivers a satisfying character arc continued from Casino. There are some genuinely good action scenes and character moments and it sets Bond up to be the best version of James Bond we'd ever see, no longer consumed by inconsolable rage and vengeance, able to put atruism ahead of duty: the ultimate badass anti-hero with a heart and soul. Then Skyfall rebooted him to brooding Batman Bond and trashed two films worth of beautiful character writing.
1. Casino Royale (2006) = The Benchmark and beyond for all James Bond Films, a masterpiece of film making, along with the best title Bond song ever. 2. No Time to Die (2021) = The Perfect Conclusion and Swan Song for a beloved iteration of the titular character, whilst redeeming Spectre to a degree. 3. Skyfall (2012) = The Greatest Action Oriented James Bond Film of all Time, and has the second best title Bond song ever. 4. Spectre (2015) = The Funniest Bond Film for me when it comes to dialogue, and has a strong First Act, but falls apart from a narrative standpoint, so frustrating and it has the worst title Bond song ever. 5. Quantum of Solace (2008) = Completely Forgettable for me, while underrated to a degree with a couple of solid action set pieces and a strong villain scheme, but apart from that there's nothing redeemable about it unfortunately.
Films: 1. Skyfall 2. Casino Royale 3. Spectre 4. Quantum of Solace Songs: 1. Skyfall 2. You Know My Name 3. No Time to Die 4. Writings on the Wall 5. Another Way to Die Intros: 1. Skyfall 2. Spectre 3. Casino Royale 4. Quantum of Solace
oh dear, yeah no, the quantum of solace song was not well suited for a bond theme - it is representative of the broken vengeful Bond, but as a title sequence, it should be memorable and should send tingles down your spine, not a broken, oddly composed song that doesn't provide much
5. Spectre After a promising and fun first two thirds, Spectre falls to pieces in its last act, as it gets bogged down in pointless twists and retcons. The revelation that Blofeld was behind the events of the previous three films makes absolutely no sense, and the idea that he did all of it because he was jealous that his dad showed more affection towards his half-brother James is stupid, and completely devalues the character and his menace. All that aside, Christoph Waltz is completely wasted as this new version of Blofeld, Madeleine and Bond's relationship is bland and underdeveloped, the rest of the supporting cast are frustratingly underused, and most of the action scenes end up feeling inert and lifeless. It's well directed, well acted, well shot, and features a pretty good Thomas Newman score, but the lack of any meaningful substance renders Spectre a bland and dull experience. 4. Quantum of Solace I put this above Spectre mainly on the basis that it gives Bond an engaging and meaningful character arc, wherein he has to deal with his conflicted feelings over Vesper, and as such it allows Craig to give a much better performance. That said, Quantum is still not a very good film at all. The plot was very clearly a victim of the 2007 Writers' Strike, as it feels convoluted and confusing. I like the political implications of the evil plan here, but Greene is still a frustratingly bland villain. Both the Bond girls are really weak too, and the way Fields is treated in such a disposable fashion feels really unpleasant. And of course, there's the way the choppy editing renders the action scenes completely impossible to follow. I admire Quantum in some ways, but I feel frustrated with the finished product, as I know this could've been great. 3. No Time to Die Cary Fukunaga's biggest achievement will probably be his ability to create an emotional, thrilling and highly entertaining story out of the mess that Spectre left behind. Bond and Madeleine's relationship gets the development that it very much needed, and both Craig and Lea Seydoux give fantastic performances. The action scenes are far more impressive and exciting compared to the tedious setpieces of Spectre, Blofeld and Spectre actually feel like more interesting and threatening antagonists here, and while certain members of the supporting cast still feel underused, their characters feel better fleshed out, and they at least get more of an opportunity to leave an impact. The one problem I have is that Safin is a bit of a weak villain, and his plan doesn't really make sense, which does undercut a lot of the tension of the ticking clock climax. That said, the way that this story wraps up all the remaining plot threads and gives Bond an emotionally meaningful death makes this a highly satisfying way to wrap up Craig's tenure as Bond. 2. Casino Royale Craig comes onto the scene swinging, giving a fantastic energised performance as the reckless rookie version of Bond, while also bringing a great deal of vulnerability to the role that had seldom been seen before. Vesper is one of the best Bond girls in the series, with a fantastic performance by Eva Green, and her relationship with Bond is emotionally powerful and highly believable, making the tragic ending all the better. Mads Mikkelsen's Le Chiffre is a fantastic villain, and a great intellectual opponent to Bond. The action scenes are grounded yet highly exciting, David Arnold's score is his best work for the series, the dialogue feels snappy and intelligent, and it's all wrapped tightly together by Martin Campbell's excellent direction. Not just one of the best Bond films, but possibly one of the best action films ever made. 1. Skyfall While Casino Royale may be the "better" film, Skyfall is my favourite of the bunch. The exploration of Bond and M's relationship, as well as their relevance in the modern age, was fascinating and engaging, and brought some fantastic performances out of Craig and Judi Dench. Javier Bardem's Silva is one of the best villains in the series, and I love how his plan manages to feel very high in stakes in spite of its small scale. Mendes directs the film fantastically, and is perfectly complemented by Roger Deakins' gorgeous cinematography. Adele's theme is fantastic, the action scenes are engaging, the dialogue is wonderfully written, it perfectly reintroduces the more recognisable campy franchise elements while still retaining the gritty tone of the previous two films. Maybe I'm a little coloured by nostalgia - it was the first Bond film I saw in cinemas - and it has its flaws, namely the icky way Severine is treated, but on the whole I love this film to bits, and it's my all time favourite Bond film. As for the songs: You Know My Name > Skyfall >>>> No Time to Die >>>> Writing's on the Wall >>>>>>>>>>>>> Another Way to Die And the title sequences: Casino Royale > Skyfall > Spectre > No Time to Die > Quantum of Solace
My personal ranking: 1) Casino Royale 2) Skyfall 3) No Time to Die 4) Spectre 5) Quantum of Solace I really didn’t like Quantum. Boring villain, boring plot, lacklustre action. Spectre was a little bit better in my opinion, but, admittedly, not by much. My opinion on No Time to Die will probably change since I only saw it last night. Now, Casino Royale takes the GOAT spot for me at least in part because of Le Chiffre. An intriguing character with dark background, charisma and skill to back it up. He might not have the same personal connection that Silva has in Skyfall, but I feel that works to his advantage. Plus, Mads Mikkelsen is just amazing in his own right.
No time to die might be a better movie than casino Royale for me. In a vacuum, I felt the acting, direction, cinematography, costumes, sets/locations, and pacing were just better and more what I would want from a movie. Casino Royale gets massive bonus points for what it did to Bond. The poker scene is perfect and was so refreshing after the bonds that we had gotten before. I loved Brosnan, but Craig was the bond we needed at that point in time and casino Royale was the best intro for him. Stepping away from my nostalgia for casino Royale and how I felt walking out of that theater way back when, I think no time to die is just better.
Full Fat during covid area is rough since so many movies he covers are only in theaters and i can't see them in my area yet. Sigh, going to have to put this on the watch later list.
Excellent....is there a tribute to his "throw away gestures" (and replacement of the iconic hat throw in M's office ??) starting with throwing away the car keys after impersonating a car valet in 'Casino Royale'; tossing away a motor oil can at the vilain at the end of 'Quantum of Solace'; throwing away the driveless computer during the teaser action scene of 'Skyfall'; throwing away a lighting fixture shortly after falling off the ledge of a crumbling building and landing on a sofa during the teaser and preamble Mexico scene of ' Spectre'; and his throw away gesture on tossing his 'visitor's badge' into Moneypenny's waste paper basket on leaving M's office in 'No Time to Die' to his final throw away gestures of the remote control after detonating explosives and throwing away his half-gloves before opening the exterior blast doors of the WW2 submarine pen turned into a missile launch silo... if there are a few others, perhaps it's too short for a tribute....btw, Casino Royale was a total break in realism from the suave real estate agent look of the three previous Bonds.
I loved No Time To Die, especially including that ending! I keep telling people it’s not meant to make you feel good, it’s done to make us fans think on the character and legacy of Bond and that isn’t something you can really say about any other Bond films. With that said Im of the opinion that the weakest part was Safin, Blofeld and villain motivations. I think this might have worked better if the villain mechanics & plot had more Blofeld involved. I imagine a film where Bond is replaced by Nomi just as Safin has replaced Blofeld beginning a coup/civil war of SPECTRE!? Blofeld must break out of prison to stop Safin and kill Bond. I think a more interesting plot could involve Bond and Madeline caught in the midst of a SPECTRE civil war? After Safin turns the birthday bio weapon meant for Bond against the SPECTRE higher ups in Cuba that should be the main motivation for Blofeld to break out, take back SPECTRE and end Bond once and for all. With that you also have an opportunity to use both villains as commentary on how an old school vs new school Bond villain operates and what their ultimate plans are. If Blofeld wanted to use the nanobots as a strategic weapon for extortion in his arsenal that could put him back on top, Safins motivation could be counter to Blofelds. Safin wants control of SPECTRE and the nanobots to topple the entire network of the powerful and elite (legal or not) that run the world and ruined his and Madeleines lives. Safin sees himself as the better man for her unlike Bond who ran away from her and the (secret) baby at the first sign of distrust perpetrated by Blofelds trickery. Thematically if Blofeld, Bond and Felix are the past Safin, Nomi, and Paloma are the future. I think it’s better motivation across the board and still allows for what I think is a beautifully profound and historic end for an actors Bond tenure! Craig is the only man that went into a film knowing definitively it would be his last, capitalizing on the historic and thematic resonance of that is wonderful. Just as James has evolved into a better man: one that CAN love again after Vesper and entertain the possibilities of life as a father he’s blind sided by the cold, hard lonely death he has expected since first becoming a 00. That screams Fleming to me, if he had actually decided to kill Bond and give the book series an end. Love it!

One thing that I did actually like about Spectre was that Blofeld's cat wasn't just on his lap, it was just lying around in the torture room, totally relaxed in a sunbeam. That was kind of cute... it does mean that Bond blew it up tho.

Casino is just the quintessential Bond movie. Skyfall was just great. No Time to Die was a good ending point, finished the Craig era well though I wish he had better chemistry with his baby-momma. Spectre was too much while still being too boring. And Quantum was just plain boring.
Wrong sweetie pie no time to woke sucked
007 is the code name, Bond is the name
you are one of the first people that I agree with every spot on the list! This is my exact ranking!
Switch Spectre and Quantum of Solace and you got the right ranking.

I love everything about Quantum.

1. Casino Royale
2. No Time To Die
3. Skyfall
4. Quantum of Solace
5. Spectre
I like all these films, I think they're all a fun watch.
Skyfall is better than NTTD.
Perfect ranking

1. Casino Royale (untoppable)
2. Skyfall
3. No Time To Die
4. Spectre
5. Quantum of Solace
Quantum is underrated. I said it. Also, Quantum’s Bond girl is more of a reflection of Bond, imo its a great Bond girl.
@@NelsonStJames I have a huge soft spot for quantum because the writers strike the movie barely even got made

Quantum was massively entertaining, albeit terribly edited in the action sequences. That’s it though, it was a surprisingly heartfelt continuation.

I think it's safe to say that No Time to Die is the modern equivalent of On Her Majesty's Secret Service. I think eon productions really nailed it with this one, and over time many people will look back at this film fondly as this is the one film, where James Bond died.
Bond purists are toxic and hate this movie.
So when are you planning on changing the title to “tearing spectre to shreds, ft. a short review of the rest”
I think if I was to treat them as films in themselves, I would rank them like this:
1. Casino Royale, by far
2. Skyfall
3. No Time To Die, close behind
4. Spectre, waaaaaaaaay further down
5. Quantum of Solace
If I was to treat them as part of this series with ""one"" continuous story, I would switch Quantum of Solace and Spectre, funnily enough.
Your completely correct here
Exactly agree with this ranking!
12:26 Give Radiohead’s “Spectre” theme a listen, it’s far superior to the Sam Smith one that was chosen, Radiohead were originally commissioned to write the theme, but it was rejected for being too dark… It‘a an absolute masterpiece and it’s an outrage than Writings on the Wall was chosen instead 🙄
There’s even chips of the whole title sequence edited to Radiohead’s theme and it works so well 👌🏼
was about to comment this, although such a masterpiece doesn't deserve a movie like *that*
I find the rejection of Radiohead’s Bond theme very frustrating, especially when No Time To Die feels like the love child of Spectre and Writing’s On The Wall in its cadence and tone.

Radiohead's Spectre is definitely in the top 5 for sure; probably my 2nd favourite after Chris Cornell's You Know My Name. (from Casino Royale)

4. Spectre- 5.5/10
“This movie is so…so odd. Now with that third act- This movie is just above average.”
3. No Time To Die- 7.5/10
“The most emotional out of the Daniel Craig era, and probably the most boldest. But without that it’s pretty great movie!”
2. Casino Royale- 8.5/10
“This- is technically a best film out of the Daniel Craig era. It is paced so well and it’s so SO FUN! Also Vasper is one of the best character in the entire series. The casino scenes were so good and tension filled even though I had no idea what was going on. And that ending. Oh my god- it gave me filmgasm.”
1. Skyfall- 9/10
“This is my personal favorite. Just absolute master work of James Bond formula. M and Bond’s relationship was outstanding, and the villain is the best out of all Craig era. The film looks gorgeous and the action scenes are TOP NOTCH. And even at the third act the pacing get’s bit slow, it was necessary to dive into James’s past and M’s guilt…Without some questionable things James does to a sex slave…This is almost a perfect spy thriller for me.”

I love how fully half of this video is just shitting on Spectre
1) Casino Royale
I mean what else? Casino Royale is not just one of the best Bond movies it's one of the best movies of all time, successfully rebooting a thought dead franchise and bringing it back to life, the acting is great, the story is great, villain: check, Bond: check, Bond girl: check, and that ending!!!!

This was actually the first Bond film I ever watched, and I'm glad it was, Skyfall is a very great and entertaining film and is a great anniversary film for the franchise, the film looks gorgeous, with Roger Deakins doing some of his best work, the acting is great, the story is good, even if it does lean too much into The Dark Knight still great all around
3) No Time To Die
The swan song for Daniel Craig is nonstop from beginning to end, though Safin was a weak villain and the 2nd act drags a bit, it still serves as a satisfying conclusion and emotional ending for one of the best Bond eras
4) Quantum of Solace
Now I originally was very hard on this film but watching it now, I can forgive some of it's flaws, since it was written during the writers strike they didn't have as much time and resources as the others did, the action is entertaining, the story is meh, but it works really well with Casino Royale

I'm saying it now, as a lifelong Bond fan.
My ranking:
1. Casino Royale 9,5/10
2. Skyfall 8,5/10

4. Quantum Of Solace 6,5/10
5. Spectre 5/10
I overall found it an enjoyable bond film with certainly better action than Quantum
From here on out, I love all of these movies for many different reasons and can change how I rank them depending on how I feel that day.
3. Casino Royal - I enjoyed this one a lot but it did feel a little slow and boring at times. However, this one has a special place in my heart.
2. Skyfall - once again, another good bond film with a good plot that makes some risky decisions that do pay off

@@TufteMotorsport don’t ‘wrong’ me, pal. I have my opinions and you have yours.

Lol!
Casino Royale was *SOO* good!!!
That’s not even a slight exaggeration.

Yeah. I think of CraigBond as existing in an alternate universe to the others and I'm totally fine with that.
@@harrysecombegroupie me too which is why i think the "events" of No Time To Die are a suitable wrap for Craig's Bond.
@@fantasticmrfox81 I agree. The...final event was a fitting end to this Bond's run (though I think it could have been done better). It wouldn't have been suitable for any of the pre-Craig Bonds.

@@williamvalentine7087 in my Opinion Casino Royale is a good movie but i would rather rewatch ,,No Time to die" than Casino Royale

Skyfall I believe it the perfect balance of everything new Bond & old Bond had to offer.
Poetic that he had to sacrifice himself to keep the his toxicity away from his loving family…
Spectre is underrated to me.

@Rick Rastardly Haha! That's gold!

My ranking:
1. No Time To Die
2. Skyfall
3. Casino Royale
4. Spectre
5. Quantum of Solace
I think the song for quantum is worse than the spectre song which I really liked

Skyfall, Casino Royale, No time to Die, Spectre and Quantum of solace is the order you're looking for
1. Skyfall
2. Casino Royale
3. No time to die
4. Quantum of Solace
5. Spectre
oh dear, yeah no, the quantum of solace song was not well suited for a bond theme - it is representative of the broken vengeful Bond, but as a title sequence, it should be memorable and should send tingles down your spine, not a broken, oddly composed song that doesn't provide much
5. Spectre
After a promising and fun first two thirds, Spectre falls to pieces in its last act, as it gets bogged down in pointless twists and retcons.
4. Quantum of Solace
I put this above Spectre mainly on the basis that it gives Bond an engaging and meaningful character arc, wherein he has to deal with his conflicted feelings over Vesper, and as such it allows Craig to give a much better performance.
3. No Time to Die
Cary Fukunaga's biggest achievement will probably be his ability to create an emotional, thrilling and highly entertaining story out of the mess that Spectre left behind.
2. Casino Royale
Craig comes onto the scene swinging, giving a fantastic energised performance as the reckless rookie version of Bond, while also bringing a great deal of vulnerability to the role that had seldom been seen before.
1. Skyfall
While Casino Royale may be the "better" film, Skyfall is my favourite of the bunch.
As for the songs: You Know My Name > Skyfall >>>> No Time to Die >>>> Writing's on the Wall >>>>>>>>>>>>> Another Way to Die

My personal ranking:

I really didn’t like Quantum.

Love it!
