Taku the former fire chief is giving you the correct information on the propane weeder 30 years ago i had a 200 acre tree farm and fire was always an issue his suggestion on clearing and covering is spot on. I used as small chain saw the work went a lot faster. Congrats on the puppy best decision ever. I'm going surf fishing this week will be thinking about you guys.
I love that you love Roscoe so much. Touching. Thrilled you had a failed foster rather than paying for/waiting for the breed you wanted. He's perfect. God is Good. Blessings, K.T.
Taku -- former fire chief in a very different (eastern Columbia Gorge) environment. You have the right idea working concentrecally away from the house. I recommend a propane weeder, to use fire in this process. Not sure what you're dealing with, but if it's hardy perennials just cutting them will just slow them a bit. You want to kill the crowns. One nontoxic way to do that is do what you're doing, but pile the cuttings on the crown, wait a month or more while it's still damp weather, then light the burn pile with the propane weeder . That will get rid of the waste, AND kill the crown, leaving a durable fire-safe and pleasing landscape. Plus you just might get mushrooms from the burn scars.
You should chop up those shrubs that Taki cut down and use that as additional filler material for those raised beds. It'll break down into compost as well, especially if you are cover cropping right now anyways.
Helloust from Northern Finland! I've been watching Your chennels a while. Roscoe and the other furry member are so cute and of course the best alarm system in Farm! 🔥Matti🔥
Love the video as always Taku invest in a Husqvarna or Stihl gas chain saw the paradise your living in needs to be thinned out the fair plan fire insurance sucks mine just went up and I love the way your repurposed the wood
You guys should look into renting goats too do your weeding for you guys they will eat pretty much everything you will have to go behind them for trimming thats it and because you have a big area that you're trying to clear out! You will benefit from the poop adding back into the soil
Propane ! Yessiree...your source for heat and cooking etc? Good idea to have a 500+ gallon tank or two that will keep you going in the event of a winter snow or bad weather or road closures that might delay the delivery truck etc. Maybe the previous owner already did that. Nice planters...I've seen some of them made drilling holes into the wood top to bottom then with the rebar going through them, holds the wood posts vs. to one side...holds them very secure in all directions. Looks like fun and clearing all of the brush etc. is going to really makes it worth it once done. Looks better and much much safer in summer. BTW, Dobies are/get super attached to their owners.
When you cut down all those at least you can see if theres Wilde life we have bears and mountain lines here where we live also in northern Calif in the amadoor county area we here them all the time they have been at our front door we haven't heard any bears yet or saw there tracks but it's scary at night so I don't go out side after dark you guys have a nice place looks like
I live in rural Humboldt County and also work in forest management and emergency services. You might want to look into your local firesafe council and or forest management non-profit if there is one; For example the Mid Klamath Watershed Council and or the Mattole Restoration Council who provide forest management grant funded work, with the use of manual thinning and prescribed fire. I would also suggest using Personal Protection Equipment (PPE) when using a chainsaw, chaps, hardhat, ear and eye protection. Often our rural communities are serval hours from an emergency room, with longer response times from both fire departments and ambulance services. I would hate to see you get hurt. Love following your channel and best of luck with the new place.
They have wide toothed electric saws that have enough of a gap in them for twigs and small branches, might be good for clearing that undergrowth. Not sure what they are called i just use mine to trim the huge bushes in my backyard lol. You should eat more sweet potato! Okinawans are some of the longest lived people in the world and a large part of their diet is sweet potatoes (they also are tasty).
Please be bold in your fire protection zone. Fire wise the under-growth as best as you can beyond your trees. Trees grow back for free, your home… not so much. Looking forward to your families ‘new’ life style and adventures.
The garden is a sanctuary IMHO Young plants and seedlings are like babies and children. Growing sets a clock like pace much different than today. Meditation amongst the beds improves health and vitality. Plant nutrients are essential. The young adults and mature plants are perfectly happy without you, just give em water and check on them after storms. Eat.
It's such a wonderful thing that you gave Roscoe a forever home. You guys are so sweet and he makes such a great friend to you guys.
Nice that you 2 decided to adopt that pupper. Its cheaper than having a child. 😂

Always thought we would get a mixed medium sized dog. Did not expect to end up with a massive Doberman. 😂
Another Jocelyn video!!!! Makes my Sunday!
Thank you! ❤
sweet potato will require a good amount of real estate, sand, and depth. just to keep in mind. shout out to Roscoe best decision ever!!
This video made me homesick for the PNW mornings. Also, I absolutely love that mug 😍
I'm here for the dog vlogs. Stayed for the Taklyn Adventures

We’ve never heard of a propane weeder! We’ll need to look into this, thank you!
Hey Taku you need a weed cutter with a blade for the bushes,
it will save your back, and look into a wood chipper/spliter 🤗🤗🤗
Sweet potato is great as you can also eat the leaves and tips and they are great in stir fry.
I love them too, blanch them and make a salad with tomatoes and onions and a dressing…yum.
Your house looks so lovely. It must be difficult settling in after such a long time on the road but you guys are making it look easy.
That opening montage was absolutely magical 💖✨ your piece of paradise
Thanks for sharing with us 💜💚
Is anyone else cooking while watching their videos 🤗👩🍳🍳 super cozy
I recommend the Dewalt cordless pruner. Your hands will thank you, as long as you keep them away from the business end.
Really coming along! Great stuff! Love that you're up cycling!
Roscoe: it's tough being a dog. Woof~ 🐶
So happy for you guys with your property. It's awesome!
Great video Jocelyn & Taku!

Sheesh beautiful scenery love what you both are doing goals yet idk if I can ever
Down here in Florida to save money I use pallets for raised beds. Old racing tires and cut down 55 gallon barrels.
❤❤❤
Been waiting for this episode!
You might check and see if some of those shrubs are huckleberry bushes. They're great plants to have around. Yummy.
Love it, and you

“Crimson and clover. Over and over.”
Good video. When your clearing the under brush use your chain saw, it’ll make it go faster.

You might want to line your garden plots with something, as I found that slugs and snails love to live in spots like that , love your videos , peace
If you guys plant sweet potatoes, if you don’t like the potato, the vines (leaves) are edible, and nutritious. ❤
Hey you two , well with the high cost of propane maybe solar or put in a pot belly stove y’all got plenty of wood , are you planting any grains ?
Taku is probably so used to working over a gas flame being in a kitchen that he couldn’t live without it lol
Haha Rosco feels much cooler sleeping on the cardboard lol

Roscoe’s the project manager 😂

Q. How will you keep the rabbits and deer out of your planter boxes when the seed you planted starts producing? 🌺
Love the progress that you guys are making! It’s looking really good! What’s the brand of the waffle maker in the beginning of the video?
You're a badass
That cup you were holding J was beautiful!..is that one of your creations?..will you be making and selling perhaps?
Maybe in the future, for now just making pieces I like and want for myself, friends, and family.
@@TaklyntheWorldthank you for your response!❤

The sweet potatoes will take over so be aware.
Roscoe must have been raised in a camp of unhoused people, preferring cardboard to a plush bed.
ey brother try a saws all for the thicker brush
You should hire some goats to eat down the underbrush for fire prevention
What is your growing zone?
What’s the fire insurance cost?
more taklyn less taco. here for it
i think you mean taku, champ.
Goats! you need goats help to thin out underbrush
Maybe you could lend a hand to the local California government. They don’t seem to know what forestry is.
All your neighbors grow greenhouses medical medicine
You should invest in a weed wacker that also uses a blade for cutting thick brush.
