  • Taurus GX4 VS Taurus G3C (Everything You Need to Know) The New Taurus GX4 has only 50 total parts along with longer slide rails for decreased felt recoil. The Taurus G3C has a rail, 12 rounds and a thumb safety. Both are very nice handguns. In this video, I broke down the features, similarities and differences along with some range time. Let me know your thoughts.

Taurus came out with an improved design and raised the price by 99 dollars. S&W improved the body guard with the plus model and added the Performance Center moniker to the optics cut version and raised the price by 500 dollars. The marketing folks at S&W forgot what made the body guard a huge success. It was bang for the buck. Not to worry Taurus picked up that ball and is running with it.

I bought my G2C, hopeful. After my first trip to the range, I grudgingly liked it. It wasn't a CZ75, but I kinda liked it. now that I have had it for just over a year, so a years worth of shooting, I have every confidence in it, and REALLY like it, a lot. I no longer hesitate to recommend it to anyone. The GX4 seems like a cool little gun, but I don't see enough advantage in it to replace my G2C. TBH, the selling point for me on the G2C is the "restrike" capability. It makes dryfire, laser practice a realistic pleasure, without having to rack the slide for each shot.

What do you mean by a truck gun? I went to a gun store in St. Charles, MO., that advertised 9mm truck guns from 189$, and the owner showed me a jimenez 9mm 12 shot pistol. And I go okay the frame on the jimenez is the same alloy as Ruger used on their P series pistols back in the 90's. He said well if you leave this 9mm jimenez in your truck and the truck gets stolen, you are only out of 200 bucks. And I replied, is someone tries to steal my truck and I pointed to my truck parked infront of the gun store, I'll shoot their ass grave yard dead with a Glock 20 10mm.

I like my G2C...I paid 300 bux for it, which is about 70 bux more than it was just a short year ago BUT once I got used to handling it, I'm very happy. Don't mind the "long-trigger" pull at all. That being said, if I were to replace it, I'd get the slightly larger G2 or G3.
399 is still a good price BUT for about 100 to 150 bux more, you're getting into a Glock 19 or the base Springfield Hellcat (the later which has the threaded barrel and can take all the pieces and parts later on that are on the 300 dollar more expensive modified Hellcat)....
I'm thinking the GX4 is a good pistol but there's some things I already don't like about it after watching the demos and listening to the reviews.
I'll keep what I got (G2C) and perhaps experiement with some of the aftermarket add-ons and mods later on. If I wanted a smaller pistol and could find reliable source for ammo, I'd probably get the Taurus Spectrum .380 for still 249 bux.

  • @curtisbarrow7650

I already have a shorter (0.2" length and 0.1" height), narrower (0.08"), lighter (4.5 oz) micro compact with a longer barrel (0.1"), that can hold one more round in a flush fit mag, that I have been using since 1995: a Keltec P-11, now represented by the SCCY. I might not have that "great" trigger, but the chances of "glock-leg" or it going off in my pocket are substantially less. No problems to stop it from going bang in 26 years. I long ago got used to the trigger. The GX4 would be moving up in size anyway...
Well, I did retire the P-11 a couple of years ago in favor of the G2C. I don't find the size reduction to be that appealing or significant for the GX4 vs the G2C; and I don't want to be buying yet ANOTHER type of magazines. No safety on a striker fired gun is also a minus: anything that can get into the trigger guard can make it go bang, not just those infamous intentional booger-hooks.
It does look like a nice gun (all the "new" micros do, they are all just late to the game), though, just not for me. Now if Taurus would put a DECOCKER on the G2/G3 series like they already have done on some of their pistols to make them actual DAs...THAT would be interesting!

I'm with you there Curtis. I've had and carried my P-11 for 20+ years. I recently purchased a G3C and I absolutely love it but when I just need to run out to the store or something real quick, 9 out of 10 times I grab my P-11. It's just so easy to carry with the IWB belt clip. No holster required. Had 2 stovepipes with it years ago but after a couple hundred round break in it eats anything you put in it from practice loads to hot +P self defense rounds. Not to mention I put a MCARBO spring kit in it and the trigger went from 12lbs down to 5lbs. But still a long, safe double action but much smoother. I don't know if I'll ever find something to completely replace it.

I just bought a g3c. They had the gx4 also at the store and I went with the g3c cause I don’t have a lot of dough to drop on pistols unfortunately. And the little larger size made sense to me cause that full grip gives me more confidence so I can carry it not pocket carry it but inside the waste but it’s still easy enough to shoot I can use it for home defense. If I had other pistols I would go with the gx4 but if you don’t have a lot of money and you want something that can kinda fill two rolls go with the g3c

I like the G2c the best. Outside of the now lower price, I'll keep the safety and I like the chamber warning. My opinion is they just kept removing features on each newer model. You end up with a gun that doesn't hold as many bullets without a safety for more money. If it ain't broke don't fix it. G2c is the way to go in my opinion.

I learned how much it would cost to mill my G2C to accept a red dot sight, then thought, I might as well buy an optic-ready gun. So I did--the GX4XL--without checking to see if it was double-strike capable. It's not. Honestly I haven't shot it yet and I already have buyer's remorse. It came with an optic, though.

The aftermarket is a good alternative if you don't like the deep pull. I did it for my G2C, and loving it. However, I hate the internal mechanics of that trigger group. I feel over time, it'll be too flimsy to hold up. I also have the G3C. It still has a relatively deep trigger pull, but not as bad. The newer trigger group and trigger blade are much better design over the G2C in my opinion. I love it, and it's the primary reason that I upgraded to it. Bonus was that the mags can be used between both guns! What I didn't realize at the time was they don't use the same holster. At least what I use wasn't compatible. I had to find one specifically for the G3C and that added overall cost of ownership. If you like the G2C, you'll love the G3C. No more LCI, better front serrations, iron sights, better trigger design and feel, all in the same size and cost range. How can you go wrong with all those.

@@hookedonbassncats I'm a fan of Vedder's holsters. At the time they didn't have a holster for the G3C and I assumed it would fit. Same frame, but there are scoops on the front of the G2C that aren't there on the G3C. It got in the way of fitting the gun. It wasn't until later that they came out with the fitted holster. I'm a happy camper now. The only mild drawback I have with the G3C is the weight. It's a bit on the heavy side for carry for its size. And the texture on the grip is a bit aggressive. Rubs the skin raw if you're not careful. Otherwise, it shoots good. Enjoy your gun. I think its a winner in the budget gun category.

      @hookedonbassncats 3 ปีที่แล้ว

When I was in the army I bought a Taurus th9c off a buddy. I actually really liked that gun but some people didn't. I mean it's no sig but it was a good handgun. That is what got me noticing Taurus and when they came out with the g2c and i saw people raving about it and so I shot one and bought it that same day lol. Such a good buy to this day. Nothing comes CLOSE for the money....period. Not even this super sweet lil GX4!

  • @ABCDEFGHIJKELA...

I think for off body carry, pocket, or smaller hands...the GX4. For proper on body concealed, and confidence to react, with expandable mag options, accessories, and more familiar feel, the G3C. The G3C can also use several other makers mags, and that restrike could save your life if you're using one arm to fend off an attack, and have issues with ammo, or whatever. it's also more fun to fire, which is a BIG plus, the more familiar you are the better your chances at successfully defending yourself, that means wanting to use the gun, wanting to shoot it, wanting to carry it, having confidence in it. I prefer the slightly weightier G3C, is feel like I'm back on target quicker, but as he said, that could improve with practice on the GX4. Both are awesome imo, and at incredible price points....so, smaller hands, off body, or pocket carry, GX4...familiar feel, and weight, super comfortable appendix carry, edc ccw, with accessory options and more capacity, 3 mags, G3C. (I chose the G3C several months ago, I love it).

I have two G3C's as truck guns because they're relatively reliable and, most importantly, they're inexpensive for what you get. I think I'd prefer the GX4 as a backup CCW instead of one of my G3C's.

I've been looking at both of these guns so thanks for the comparison. I'm learning towards the GX4. I like everything about it BUT I do wish it had double strike capability like the G3C.

So what's the problem? If you like the double strike capability of the G3C why buy the GX4? Duh!

Limp Wrist Drill facial expressions are entertaining but the drills are useful.

Never seen a limp wrist test before. As silly as it may look to do that, it’s valid thanks for including that.

I'll wait until the GX4 comes with a 13 round mag in the box and a different base plate for the 11 round mag included. Looks like a nice companion gun for a TX22, but I refuse to pay extra money for things that should already be included.

I have the G2c and carry it all day. I really would like the smaller gun, just for warm weather options.

something no one talks about.....................when the clip is loaded and inserted into the gun on the gx3, gx2, millinium, the gun can stand up on its own when you put the bottom of the clip and base of the handgrip on a smooth level surface.

Sticking with My G3C T.O.R.O. Since I have a P365 SAS if I want to get really small I'm already "invested" in. Had the GX4 come out when I was looking for a CC 9mm it would have definitely been a contender for my $$

I like G3C is good carrying gun, this GX4 is bout $100 more what are you paying for? New plastic case, two 11 rounds clips, a smaller hand gun. I think I'll wait for $$ to come down. I'm very pleased with G3C!!

I'm one of the thumb safety lovers. If the GX4 had a thumb safety I'd buy one. I bought a P365 without the safety and ended up putting the add-on safety kit in it when those came out. I sold my PT111 and regret it so I'll keep an eye out for any future options that get added to the GX4.

Already have a G3 and when I add a smaller version I think I might lean to the G3c over the GX4, just to keep them more similar I guess. I'd have to put them in the hand side by side to really get a preference though. I really like my G3.

Awesome video, I have a G3TORO and it feels and shoots great. I like the trigger safety and the manual safety on the G3C. The G3C bundles at Academy Sports and Outdoors are amazing. But I like both they are really cool weapons.

I haven't bought a GX4 yet, but I'm seriously thinking about a GX4 T.O.R.O. I love the G3C compact that I carry daily as my backup to my PT-92 AFS.

The classic facial expression doing the limp wrist test , wacky !! I'm going to wait for the long term wrap up to see the reliability of the GX4. The G2c and G3c are proven reliable . nice comparison Dan. You can buy a 13 rd magazine for the GX4.
