While there is synth in this music (quite a bit of it), some of the sounds you've heard isn't actually synth. There's electric guitar during the chorus (though it's turned down), that high-low, high-low, low-high, low-high is a violin, bass guitar is used through much of the song itself, and that epic as fuck solo is obviously guitar as well.
This song is a masterpiece of blended genres, synthetic tones, and real tones.

For me, the only song that can compete with this song i terms of best video game song ever is Snake Eater from Metal Gear Solid 3, and even then, i still think Bury the Light is still Better
