    I’m not a runner but my god the Hoka Clifton 9s are so damn comfy. I have ran in them briefly and they felt fantastic because the cushioning almost propels you forward. Easily one of my favorite shoes I’ve ever worn. Hoka has gained a fan in me :)

    The Pegasus outsole is way better for slippery conditions so that was my easy choise over Clifton.

    I bought both shoes a week apart, the Clifton 9 but the Pegasus 39 because it was only $70. It was my first pair of Hoka shoes and I was initially disappointed because they were supposed to be the Holy Grail. About three runs in I discovered I like them and began to enjoy them. It wasn't a break-in period, it was just getting used to the cushioning. I alternate with Nike shoes which has a bit more traditional cushioning. They have their distinct personalities when you start a run but a mile or two into a run their differences are diminished. I'm only running 9:30-10 min/mile so I'm not a speedster anymore but I think these shoes will serve me well.

      I’m a huge Clifton fan from Clifton 5 and each time it takes me about 60+km to start to love them, but then I do really really love them!! They are still my go-to for anything over 25km when I’m not going for PBs… I recently did my first ever 50k in them!!

      I’ve been using the Pegasus for all my tempo work usually up to 10k and my Clifton for everything longer and slower I thing it’s an amazing rotation

      I am a new runner. I just got the Pegasus 39 for about $20 so well worth it and also have the Clifton 9. The Clifton 9 is more comfortable but they are both good for me so far so I switch between them.

    As a footballer I love the Pegasus because it is responsive like a football boot on the grass, especially the mercurial with the air zoom pocket

    i started runing 2 mounth ago, i ran in like random sports shoes so my family decided to buy me some runing shoes for my birthday. They bought the nike pegasus 39 and when i got them i was really happy^^ i had no problems fitting into them tho i thought that this shoes felt quite "hard" on the ankles. I have to say, i have no background in runing so my feet, ankles, tendons, basically everything down there wasnt used to all this incoming force. The first view runs i felt really good but like after 2 weeks and way too many KM (for a beginner), i got some serious ankle and achilies problems. I found out (the hard way of course) that i actually needed some max stability and max cushion shoes. I needed to take a break for 2 weeks then i started with some light weight training, a little bit of stretching wich actually helped me recover from this. i bought the Hoka Arahi 6 shoe wich was a really good choice. I am still using this shoe and maybe later on, when my feet get a bit stronger, iam gonna carefuly try the pegasus shoe again. i got my ankle problems from multiple problems but i still feel like the pegasus shoe is quite firm 😎

    The way I see it is that technology has allowed other shoes to surpass the Pegasus. The fact that it hasn't changed much, has hurt it. I see it more as a track shoe, or a cross training shoe to take to the gym and maybe used for the shorter runs. I would not use it as a daily trainer or for long milage runs, there are just much better shoe options out there now. I feel like since it didn't adapt enough, it got left behind. Unless you are a legacy user of the shoe, or just loyal to Nike, I would not recommend it.

    Very good review; the Clifton is my choice and I recommend it based on various runs. And by the way, please, please buy Nick a decent microphone ! Sounds like he is using his iPhone as a mic source and if he is using a proper mic, then it needs replacing! Not the first awful audio quality video from Nick - it is constantly bad! Sort it boys!

    Any comments on the footbed? Is the Pegasus a flatter platform?
    I have had trouble with Hoka in the past because of my wide forefoot and had discomfort because the sidewalls push up on the edges of my foot.

    • @ericobarrera6580
      @ericobarrera6580 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Hoka Clifton and Bondi is known to have that problem if your medial hovers over the medial plain of the shoe. It's like a bar that you feel under your foot. It's hit or miss, not everyone experiences it; but it is a thing. How wide are you? Are you 2E Wide? Else, I would recommend something along the lines of a New Balance, Mizuno, or Brooks Glycerin. They come with a wider toe box, and lock in the mid foot well.

      I have the same issue! Similar trouble causing blisters with Puma shoes that also have that annoyingly curved footbed.

      I’m probably a 2E forefoot, but I have a high arch and narrow heel. Currently I’ve got wide versions of the Ride and Kinvara. On both, I skip some lacing near my metatarsal heads to give a little more space.

      @@andrewflynn4306 Wide Forefoot with a narrow heel is a tricky one. If you go wide, it's probably too loose in the heel. What else have you tried? Have you tried New Balance 880? Or the Altra Torin 7?

      I have a tailor’s bunion on my pinkie, likely from too many years of narrow toe boxes. That’s mostly where the space is required.
