Made money from shares in her family business in the 70s-90s from apartheid South Africa, when asked said she had given profits to charity but couldn't remember which. Didn't sell the shares. Hodge gave a speech telling people that she understands why people are fearful of faces in schools being "different". She did also say we should talk up the benefits of immigration but I don't accept her understanding of people being fearful of people looking different.

I don't understand why you're not able to understand people's fear of people who look different: they may have a different ethnic racial identity and hence agenda when it comes to the development of a society.

Corbyn is a Stalinist, a Putin apologist, a cynical opportunist (supported the tory right-wing coup that was Brexit), a class traitor (appointed establishment communists as his chief advisors), feeble minded (failed to land a single blow against the tories at PMQs), lily livered (couldn’t even mount a defence against the A/S smears)…a thoroughly unpleasant human being, an antisemite he is not.

I salute Margaret Hodge for campaigning against racism, and for pointing out here that it is as much part of the Far Left as it is for the Far Right. As far as Jeremy Corbyn's part in this, well as Victor Hugo said it was as much Corbyn's fault not perhaps for being the darkness but for allowing the darkness to happen.
What I am not so sure about though is people reappraising Gordon Brown's Premiership. It is true that successors have hardly covered themselves in glory either, but what does it say about someone who needed a financial crisis to save their Premiership.

As time passes, you might consider revisiting this comment. Racism is mot part of far right OR far left politics. It is part of the human condition. Where i believe your considered comment falls short is naming an individual for this unavoidable fact of life. Because on some level, it helps you feel better. He really would have required the super human powers of a deity to achieve such a feat. Which we both know in fact, he does not. So setting him up to fail which he was certain to. Was not very honest. Mrs Hodge must also know this but could never admit it. But we can do better I hope?
