Yeah this was also my favorite out of the whole trip mate. What an awsome finish with plenty of fish and diving with an awsome spearo aswell! Keep well bro, til the next one, cheers from Durban South Africa
Somehow I missed this video of yours. Very very interesting not only to see the black sea underwater but also how plentyful the fish can be there. Your videos are so relaxing, you manage it so well to catch and portrait the feeling of being silently underwater, everything is just slow and beautiful. Hope we will see some more soon.
Not only do I thoroughly enjoy the videos you put out, but I am really enjoying watching how much has changed over the years with your cinematography and your editing skills. They have grown leaps and bounds.
Where are you gonna meet our champion ? I don't know him personally but I know he a great guy and my friend on Facebook. It's gonna be a pleasure for Bulgarians to see your next adventure with him !
After years of spearfishing in Croatia I understand how magical it must feel to see such a large school of Mediterranean fish, but I have to say it was hard for me seeing them being shot because of just how rare they are here. Great video and diving technique, but I am certain humans have to start restoring the nature. (Keep spearfishing it is the most ethical way to get fist)
Man, it's a great video, very smooth! I was born and grew up on the shore of the black sea in Ukraine. From the age of 10 I spent all my free time in the water. I am very pleased to see my native landscapes, considering that I have not been there for more than 3 years, I miss it. Thank you!
That was probably some of the crispiest spearfishing footage I've ever seen, I'm constantly in awe! Loved the series, you should do something like that but travelling around Australia one day 🙂
Glad to see you enjoying the Black Sea and Bulgaria, Dan! You were lucky with the amazing weather conditions and such an experienced guide. Maybe an idea for a future video would be to try to catch some of the monster sea bass or shi drum living in these waters.
Grat video, as always! Those nice images taken with a proper camera really do make a pleasant view for all of us. Can't wait for this summer adventures :)

what a way to end this journey, loved watching every part of this. Now imagine anyone told you about the corvina fishery in bulgaria before any of the attempts in the med :D
Hey Daniel! Just got back from the water where I saw a few brown meagres (corvina) and then I watched the video and I said. Damn..... Ours here in Greece are like little Rambos! The moment you try to get close to them they head back to their lair... Nice video! Cheers!
What a great video, Primorsko is near Sozopol - my Favourite city in Bulgaria. Now that you experienced the difference between the black sea and the Mediterranean you should try the northern black sea near Ukraine, I have a friend from Odessa and a friend from Crimea and they shoot corvinas of over 3 kilos there, and also they catch Sargo (bream) using sea weed as a bait, i saw them catching them as big as 1-1.5 kilo. Its absolutely insane.
I would love to visit that part of Ukraine but I guess that might have to be put on hold for a few years sadly. I’ve also heard the corvinas are massive there.
Excellent video!!! You can find corvinas everywhere now in Black Sea with sizes like small groupers. I think they like our seas, the last few years it is an invasion.
Great video! The cinematography is amazing! One thing I noticed about Hannah is that she has the loose end of her belt tucked in and not free. This might be an issue in case of an emergency.
Thank you! If you pause at 2:12 you can see it's not a death tuck as some people call it. Just the excess looped up under so if you pull the loose tag it it all comes undone. I do it also but I don't wrap it over the belt - that would be a disaster as you say.

Hvala! I think for one day it's great but I guess you may become a little bored after a while. There are other fish but not many in the season we were there.
Hi Dan it has been a tremendous series of beautiful videos, and probably the shoal of corvinas is the best image of them all. So the question now is: what’s next??
amazing video, my all time fave is the legendary corvina (eskina in turkey). you've mentioned it's difficult to see large shoals in the med which is generally true but my experience in the aegean is slightly different. I would recommend you find a cove or bay downstream of large fish farm if you want to see shoals. but be prepared for bad visibility 🥸
A Daniel Mann video with no mention of dentex? That's like a David Seal video without the word 'sumptuous'. Corvino look very much like American black drum or aa redfish without the spot. Maybe even a whiting here in Florida.

The biggest I saw was 5 kilos very shallow - I got so excited that I missed at point blank range. I never saw so many in a school. However outside of Corvina (Brown meagre) this place looks desolated. Did you see any mullet there?
I've heard there are much bigger Covina around the Ukraine coastline of the Black Sea. I saw mullets, snarpsnout sargos, wrasse and stingrays. They also get massive sea bass in winter, one of Valentin's friends shot one 12kg this year.
@@DanielMann Hahaha. Probably they pop out from those cracks when you take a closer look and went above it where they cant see you and you on the other hand🤣🤣

With all the champion spearos you’ve dove with, is there anything about them and their skills that are very similar/stand out from your average spearo? Or are they just a different breed altogether?
They get massive bass in the winter. Valentin showed me a photo of his mate with one 11kg this winter just gone. I saw some small sharpsnout sargos and mullets also.
It's hard to say because they all offer so much aside from the spearfishing. I think Türkiye was up there because it was so far to drive to, great food, friendly people, history and the spearfishing was fantastic.

Fish in the Black Sea is so plentiful, that you need to know the exact hole to look into to find it.
Kidding aside, great video, I'm glad you finally visited!
I’ve been to many places that are fishy but knowing the exact spot or hole is a huge help. Sometimes 5m in the wrong spot means no fish!

Why do you turn off the light immediately??
Light has a retractable switch so when you let go it turns off. Also scares fish less.
