    Everytime I see a video like this, it reminds of how dead the mediterranean actually is. Having 10kg fish swim up to greet you while whales are singing in the background is just not something you get to experience here. Of course that's also due to the geographic location, different climate etc, but centuries of extensive fishing and marine traffic have taken a toll.

    • @DanielMann
      @DanielMann  ปีที่แล้ว +10

      It’s a totally different ball game spearfishing in the Mediterranean compared to other places like Australia. I enjoy both but shooting a fish in the Mediterranean is way more satisfying than shooting fish in Australia from my experience.

      Also Australia has strict rules on what you can have ,size and bag limit and in season , this is also why our marine life is abundant we don’t take everything we see , sadly this is exactly what other country’s are doing and wonder why their marine life is dead ,looking after marine species is very important not just for now but into the future , geographic locations yes is also another factor , and unprotected marine life doesn’t help , went on a cruise got off on a island to have a cray for lunch freshly caught , they cooked it and I received it with thanks only to discover it was a lovely female full of eggs , I was very disappointed when females should go back to reproduce grrrrr.

      I've only been hooked on spearing for 2 years, I haven't found a safe dive buddy yet so anything deeper than 10-15m is just not realistic for me.
      Ive learnt a lot and gained max stoke from all your hard work putting out videos for us mere mortals. I bought my boat 9 months ago in Brisbane for the sole purpose of spearing and I havent landed a fish on it yet. I've put some friends onto some good ones though. My first boat so maybe I'm too cautious about swell and wind and sick days. I think its amazing what you do and I'm stoked that YOU can do it easily

    • @DanielMann
      @DanielMann  หลายเดือนก่อน

      Only rare to see because they normally inhabit waters down to 200m where no scuba diver is going to see them. Not babies at all, you got that 90cm information from the first google result. The Australian fish museum was over the moon to receive such specimens.

    Interesting species. But- why do you put lemon in the fish? Maybe it's a cultural thing? You know that in restaurants they use lemon to disguise scent of the fish that is not very fresh. That is all to it. Lemon in general destroys original flavour of the fish, and turns it in, well- nothing. Definitely something that is a no-no on the Adriatic coast. We usually say that people who put lemon on the fish- do not like to eat fish.

      Thank you, the topside stuff is my Sony A7SIII, underwater is a mix of a GoPro hero 10 and the DJI Osmo action 3 👌

    No idea why youd shoot a monster GT. Their flesh does not freeze well and at that size is saturated with blood making it a very poor eating fish at that size.
    Fantastic when small

    I respectfully decline your biased opinions on the best spearos in Australia. I will however pump up your ego by stating your posts on TH-cam are world class and you should be very proud of that effort. If I may be so bold as to encourage you to continue with your gift. This doesn't mean I rate you as an A grade hunter. Clearly you arent and shot placement is evident enough. If I could wave a magic wand and go back to a different time prior to bag limits my choice of the camera man would be you Mr Mann. So its a razor edged compliment 😂😂😂uhh

      Not biased when his name is on the trophy along with Bryson Sheehy from the last Australian championships. Facts. But I’m sure when you’ve dived with both of them you formed your opinions or are they just biased from you not liking Tim’s beliefs? Either way, I’ve dived with some of the best all around Europe and both of them are class divers. Again, results speak for themselves!
