fan is commanded on when AC runs to keep pressure freon below 400 psi.
fan also runs if coolant goes over 220F.

Or if the reference signal cannot be determined. Fan on as a precaution. Thanks for the input. I agree with the references you shared.

Watch out for that plastic radiator. A real ticking time bomb. The inlet pipe on mine broke off in my driveway...no warning.

Hey man, nice video! Got a question that’s making me go nuts. I had a cracked radiator, coolant would leak out above 3500rpm. So I went to a mechanic and had him replace the radiator and fill up new coolant. The first day, my car wouldn’t get up to temperature. When checking under the hood, the fan was blowing! The next day when turning it on on an ice cold engine, the fan started as well. I never had this before replacing the radiator. Went back to the mechanic and right the moment I park up, the radiator turns off and the car heats up just fine. Mechanic didn’t see any problems and suspects a sticky thermostat that doesn’t open well, but this doesn’t explain it never happening before the radiator change and why it turns on on a cold engine. So I would assume the coolant temperature sensor but he said he didn’t even touch it when replacing the radiator, and again, I didn’t have this problem before the radiator change. Do you think I should still swap the sensor and hope for the best? I don’t feel like draining the new coolant and putting new in again😅

      Oh I should mention it’s a 2.4 non turbo v70 from 2000 (classic)

Sounds like an open in the coolant temp circuit. By default the fan will run as the engine controller has no idea what the temp really is at that moment. Harness would be easy to disturb or the sensor just is going out. Check the harness and if nothing is evident swap the sensor.
