    question: if it was A D E u would use B dorian, what about using the dominant 7ths makes it A dorian?

      Yeah, that’s a great question, it’s really just the scale that everyone uses, blues does not really conform to western music theory, which leads to a lot of confusion. Generally, what people do is alter the Dorian mode to fit the chord of the moment, as I have shown here. There are many other strategies, but this one is probably the most common.

      @@nowyoushred cool; thanks for getting back to me on that..that dampens the confusion; i know my major scale and modes and play off them and check out theory as well as i can, not a quick study here, but when i get it i retain it..appreciate the input, that question was wigging me out and i was going round and round thinking the answer was staring me in the face and being one of the smartest of the dumb ones, sought for clarification on my own ...of course, the train wrecked so thought to ask..keep on man and thanks again; i check out your tracks daily:
