I hear you. What hurts more than cleanly playing the B chord is remembering how well we once played before.
Don't live your life trying to make everyone else happy. So long as you don't make people miserable then you're doing alright.
You are better to let the strings scream it out than allowing your brain to wallow in it. I hope your callouses return and your soul can once more break free with the fretboard.

Been there and all I can say is I was totally broken and alone, but coming out of it I for once understood who I truly was with eyes for once fully open, all my senses out of a long sleep, and stronger than I could of ever imagined. Music can be the runs on the ladder, you just have to keep climbing and you get to the blue skies. Now I see it was a learning process from getting me out of a trance like existence of day to day numbness. Just keep climbing
