I think it's time to update SSS and Volumetrics with new videos, I though a bit confusing using Refraction to set a chocolate material with better SSS . Honestly, even on the new physical material, the regular SSS seems to be not so realistic. It washes/flatten the object acting weird in my opinion. A parameter like "front/back scatter weighting" to control the amount of light scattered through the surface would be nice in order to make the material feel more wax or dense. Take a look at the Modo SSS material for some reference. I think it does the job well.
Hello! We're putting that tutorial request down on our list of things we want to tutorialize in the future. Thank you for the feedback! As for the SSS feature request itself we would kindly like to recommend posting it on our forums (forum.corona-renderer.com/). TH-cam comments make it hard to share example images and have a more in depth discussion about it. Plus, it is a lot easier for our developers to keep track of things in one place. Thank you! Nejc
@@ChaosCorona Hi Nejc thanks for your reply. I'll head to the forums, great advise. Tutorials in general are really nice, they save a lot of time and stress put by the users. I remember when we not even had broadband connection available, we took days to learn something really easy due to the lack of information.
@@Ricardo-de9ju Thank you for the kind words, we really appreciate! And yes, forums allow for a more in depth debate because we can share screenshots and divulge into wall of text like replies a bit easier. Plus, the developers are on there too! :) Nejc
Really useful thanks! Is there any possibility that you could show which settings you used to produce the image of the marble face in the preview image?
very helpful! I need to make mirror which has color on the edges, i mean many colors. I tried to use radial gradient but still couldn't make an affect I want to. Could you give me some advice ?
Hi! If the mirror is just a square or rectangle, probably easiest is simply to create a bitmap image to control the effect. However, TH-cam comments are not the best place to get help, as neither you nor us can share images etc. and it would be good to see an example image of what result you are looking for - head to the forums at forum.corona-renderer.com/index.php?board=29.0 though, and there image sharing, screengrabs etc. are possible, plus you have the community to give advice and solutions as well as us :) Thanks! Tom
This was asked on the forums too, not sure if by you or someone else :) This is a very old video, based on the Corona Legacy Material. If you are using the Legacy Material, everything should work exactly as in this video. If you are using the new, improved Corona Physical Material, then Translucency is activated when "Thin Shell Mode" is checked. Hope this helps! Tom
We'd need more information on the material set up, the scene, which version of Corona etc. - and screenshots and renders would be a big help too. You can do all this by posting on the forum in "I Need Help" e.g. here is the Max board there is another for C4D though forum.corona-renderer.com/index.php?board=29.0 . Or you can always open a ticket at support.chaos.com/requests/new (has the advantage that you can send us the scene itself, without it being visible to the Corona community, because nothing is more useful in answering a question than seeing the scene itself :) ). Hope this helps! Tom
We do not, at this time, sorry. However, the principles shown here would still apply, only the UI would be different. Also, be sure to check out the Physical Material series which covers creating many different kinds of materials, e.g. translucent plastic th-cam.com/video/LPDwObs9RuA/w-d-xo.html where some SSS is used. Hope this helps! Tom
For features, the Corona Material, Corona Skin Material, and Corona Volume Material are already there - the Corona Volume Grid is planned for Corona 6 (subject to change, of course). For a tutorial, no schedule for it, but the same principles from this one apply, only the UI of the host software is different :) Hope this helps! Tom

Great video. But my translucency fraction slider is greyed out so I cant access it. Please let me know how to activate it.

You are welcome!
Super!
What the difference between this and the volume light cr mtl??? Is the last just a shortcut to the same result? Tnks
Hi, what exactly do you mean by "volume light cr mtl"? -Marcin
thank you
