    In general, the TI units are faster in response to inputs. This used to be the front fish finder on my bass boat. It was very capable of finding schools of suspended fish I would literally use it to hover over schools of panfish and drop my bait down onto them. You can see your bait well. Just like when you are Ice fishing. I just converted mine to an Ice fishing unit since I went to a bigger unit on my bass boat.

    You have to think about your sonar as a cone small and tapering at the top. 6 inches below transducer it probably does t have a reading radius of a foot or even that. All sonar works better the deeper the fish are for the most part due to a much wider cone at the bottom

    Can you change the color scheme, like from white background to black? Thanks for the answer!

    I really like this unit, but like others have found the Auto mode doesn't work. It's been a bit of a hassle when I'm fishing in an area with a wide range of depths. Will be using this unit on my ocean kayak and have bought a Garmin Striker Plus 4 for my estuary kayak.

    I personally like the garmin striker more. I have used both but maybe I’m just more used to the garmin. Seems to give me more consistent readings

    Ive had one a few years brilliant bit of kit i fish the North Sea off the east coast of England mainly in depths between 20 and 150 feet of water on my kayak.... Fitted correctly it works brilliant.

    I bought one of these a few weeks ago. Loses bottom at 50 feet. Apparently a common issue. No amount of transducer fiddling worked. My 30 year old portable unit was more useful. Going back.

    is it also battery operated for removing it from the boat and using it for ice fishing?

    I've heard the so-called experts say it is better to use black electrical tape to fasten the cable to your trolling motor because zip ties can rub through the cable. Also the shallower you are the smaller the cone on the transducer will be, the deeper the water the bigger the cone gets.

    hey man, great review. Just about to buy one, how many pins is the transducer cable connector? I want to order an ice transducer but I dont know if it will fit.

      It has 6 pins on the plug that goes into the back of the display unit. Let me know if this didn’t answer your question!

    Do you know the length of cable? Looks like I'll need 10-12' of cable from transom to the helm.

    I have this depth finder, bought on sale. Unfortunately for me all of the reviews I see are not too great, what are your thoughts so far after owning it for this long? Most vids I see make this thing look like a piece of junk, are people just not setting the sonar sensitivity, etc correctly ya think?

    • @bluecollaroutdoors5556
      @bluecollaroutdoors5556  2 ปีที่แล้ว +5

      Yea man I agree most of the reviews do talk down this unit, I think it’s because it is so basic that it doesn’t match their expectations. I only bought the unit to read water temp, depth, and to read bottom features. For those items this unit works great and tells me what I need as for detecting fish I wouldn’t necessarily bank on it, but if used correctly it probably does that as well. Bottom line in my opinion it’s simple, sturdy, and does what I need it to do, and for under a $100 I can’t complain. I hope this helps man!

    This is not a forward facing unit. It shoots a cone DOWNWARDS now forwards. Ice fishing is dropping vertically not out.

    I have this. But the monitor is showing the bottom is still moving even when I anchor my boat. Am I missing something?

    • @waynemalan8703
      @waynemalan8703 2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      This is normal its still pulsing the whole time and sending info to the screen. When you are anchored have a look at the depth it will still stay the same but when you move it will change according to what the bottom is. Just make sure that the simulation is turned off. As far as i know anything you see on the left side of the screen is past history right to left so if you are anchored it should be repeating itself the whole time Hope this helps.

      Just a 12v deep cycle marine battery from Walmart, their ever start 24 group size battery. Usually around $75

    Can I wire this straight to my battery that I use my trolling motor to? It’s a 12v

      Avery, I’m sure you could with no issues, I would definitely add the inline breaker to ensure that there are no power surges that could potentially harm the unit.

      It’s still doing good brother, I hope to do an update video in the future, maybe one day when the weather cooperates. I plan on getting a hummingbird model in the same price range and do a comparison as well. It’s a solid unit though and does a good job with its basic functions.
