Great video, TJ. Probably one of the better install vids I have seen. I'm upgrading to a new yak in the next month or so and will have to do an install on it. My old yak was rigged when I bought it (used) so I haven't done one yet. Bravo Zulu on a great step by step without over complicating it. Cheers.
I wish i saw this a month ago.I bought a garmin striker 4 for mine and it works well.It doesnt have down scan but it has a flasher on it that i can use for jigging.Another great video and you are a hell of a fabracator.Keep up the great videos im a big fan

Corban Technologies , Yeah sorry about that my memory card filled up on me right in the middle of that part. Bust honestly it was just me installing two bolts through the transducer bracket and into the threaded holes in the kayak. Thanks for the sub! 👍🏼

Just a few hopefully helpful comments for the grp the transducer screws are the same size as the one on the tie down beside the transducer hole. Also if you plug into your 5 way splitter and your gauges don't work or your hook doesn't work first check them directly hooked up to the battery if they work that way change the wires on one of them and try that seems the 5 way is not always correct some of the plugs are backwards. So adjust your plugins accordinly
My biggest question, can you do a gps on one side, and down scan on another? I like to see my tracks, and then have a fishfinder on at the same time....

I have two of these hook2 on my Bass boat and an Elite Chirp on my Native kayak. The Elite is just as good. What I have found on the Hook2 is that a lot of the arches that folks claim are fish, might not be. The Hook transducer near the motor shows a whole lot more arches with the motor running. Lowrance claims motor interference yet I have a factory mounted system on a brand new Tournament Tracker boat, where Tracker mounts all of them for the least noise. If interference looks just like fish, I'd call that a design problem.
Ran across you yesterday at the sister watershed to the one you're on in this vid...Hillabee Reservoir. Very impressed with your attitude. You and your crew are the real deals! Enjoyed meeting you. Unfortunately when I went to eat my luncheon ham biscuit it had icicles on it. I fled early and on the way out I saw ya'll out there paddling happily along shooting video near the dam. this video sold me on this finder. i was stuck between the hook2 5 split and the garmin striker 4 and the hook2 seems to be well worth the price difference.

I'm getting the same Lowrance Hook2 5 inch with GPS so this video helped a lot. I do have a question. Did your transducer mount right up to the pre-drilled holes in the transducer cavity (on the bottom of the boat) or did you have to get a separate mount for it and were you able to put the screen back on (the bottom of the Kayak) without a problem. Thanks for your time and effort in making this video and for your answers to my questions.

Yes i was able to use the taped holes that are already under the screen, you will need to get you some screws that are the correct thread, i just happened to have 2 in my junk draw on my toolbox. Yes, the screen went back on with no issues and it works great! What angle did you put your transducer at? I'm new to this and not sure how to put my transducer in the area on the bottom with the holes in the cover.
This may seem like a dumb question... if i have this unit and later want to upgrade to a tripleshot, can i just buy the transducer? Or do i have to upgrade the whole unit?

Ryan Liberty , Normally I would put the inline fuse on the actual fish finder wire but if you are only going to use the port for your finder, I would put it behind the port. That way it's a cleaner look and the fuse is a bit more water proof in the hull. Hope this helps 👍 Thanks for watching!

TJ, how did you arrive at placing the fish finder where you did? When you are in the water at the end, it seems like you had to hold back your normal paddle stroke? TJ: Love your videos. Quite informative. In your power bank video, an inline fuse was not installed. If an inline fuse is installed, prior to the 4 way connector leading out of the battery box, would you still need the inline fuse for the fishfinder installed. Please advise, Martin

I believe they do sell one without gps, I’m not sure on the price though, sounds about right. But the gps comes in handy when you are floating a long creek and you need to know where the bridges and take spots are.🤙🏼

joe gonzales , Thanks Joe! Yes I just unplug my two wires from the back of the Lowrance and slide it right out of the gear track. I have a small padded box I transport the fish finder in. I also reach into the front hatch and pull the two wires that are going through the Hobie plug. Just pull them until they are against the boat, that way they are not flipping around outside the Yak when you are hauling it. 👍🏼

Thanks bud, No, They make a Hook2 5 "Splitshot" and a "Trippleshot" the Trippleshot also has side imagine but the transducer is very long so make sure it fits where you want to put it before you get it.🤙🏼
When you installed the transducer in the space on the bottom of the boat, did you use the thick plastic cover (with holes through it) to hold the transducer in place? And, did it work well for you? Or, did it interfere with the operation? Thank you, Sir!

I tried to put mine there but it got in way of paddle and constantly got drip on and hit. So now it's in center console

Doses it work just as well if i put transducer inside kayak insted o water
How do you increase the light on the screen display? Mine is dark and I can barely see it with my polarized sun glasses on.

Quick question....I am going to power my finder through the cigarette lighter port.....where would I put the in line fuse????

When u car top your kayak do u have to remove it?
Great video!! I just picked up my sea ghost 130 last weekend and can’t wait to get it on the water. I do have a question though, what do you do with your fish finder when transporting your kayak? Do you unplug your wiring and remove it? Thanks for your help! And keep them great videos coming.
joe gonzales , Thanks Joe! Yes I just unplug my two wires from the back of the Lowrance and slide it right out of the gear track. I have a small padded box I transport the fish finder in. I also reach into the front hatch and pull the two wires that are going through the Hobie plug. Just pull them until they are against the boat, that way they are not flipping around outside the Yak when you are hauling it. 👍🏼

Thanks bud, No, They make a Hook2 5 "Splitshot" and a "Trippleshot" the Trippleshot also has side imagine but the transducer is very long so make sure it fits where you want to put it before you get it.🤙🏼

Is your link for the mount including the whole ram mount which mounts into the trac system or just the ball?
When you installed the transducer in the space on the bottom of the boat, did you use the thick plastic cover (with holes through it) to hold the transducer in place? And, did it work well for you? Or, did it interfere with the operation?

Yes , after you mount the transducer in the pocket you’ll put the plate back on. It doesn’t interfere at all. 👍🏼🎣
