How ironic then that he ended up riding a gigantic toaster with two 4x4s with giant diesel generators on board...! Media wh00res bore me to tears. But media wh00res that sell their souls to Milwaukee and push the fake climate change death cult really insult all of humanity. Really looking forward to asking them why they REALLY did it.
Didnt even know Charlie had been in such a bad accident, glad to hear your on the mend now and back to biking 😎🤘 ive recently introduced my Son (14) to the Long Way series and ended up watching it again on TH-cam myself. 👍
If Ewan wont go on another trip any chance you would get on with Guy Martin????...... Could be a great team dynamic and make for interesting viewing ... Regards
Charley - legend. Great rider, host and was in Excalibur - now that's an enviable resume. Head-on down to ol' Mexico any time Charley - we'd love to see you here.
What a great interview. Thank you for the post!! Charlie, great to see you up and around and as positive as ever!! I guess its about persistence and keeping ones chin up. Being alone with your thoughts can be daunting, specially in a hospital. With that said, I think we really figure out who we are when we reflect upon the thoughts that we never share...……………….
Just the right set of mind and words at 8:30 about getting back on the bike. People who don't ride effectively don't understand. But that will be true in all spheres…. A horse rider will want to get back on the horse a.s.a.p. after a spill just as well as a plane pilot will. I did fracture my pelvis in 4 places while motocrossing with my kids in 2015. It happened in May, I spent 2 months in bed but was back on my motocross in September (not performing, but still riding). PASSION is the word here.
Good to see Charlie back at it again. Good form, great attitude on the adversity he faced. I agree on the rider's evolution from screaming sport bikes to the dual sports/ADV bikes, bikes that aren't one dimensional in purpose. 'best of luck for a banner year to all.
I mostly ride 30 to 50 miles per day, just weekends, on little curvy country roads with few cars. Too many close calls in the past with car drivers turning left into my path. For weekend trips, we parked at a motel for the night then got out our favorite bourbon, or walked to a restaurant/bar to drink. At 59, I like cheap 450 pound bikes that are not all that comfy for long trips but great for short curvy roads. I do have my eye on a Yamaha Tracer 900GT with ABS, but will probably just keep my 2 old bikes with carbs and less safe brakes.
Hey Charlie, I’m 70 and have been riding since I was 14. I’ve been down a couple of times but never had contact with a car. Maybe I should quit now while I’m still intact.
Sitting watching this with a broken ankle from a dirt bike off, I too have road bikes & dirt bikes & would rather ride the dirt any day, I also grew up in Ireland & when people ask me what happened & was I giving up bikes I reply with no way
What a shitter,,very honest man , who explains the downside in good detail ,, guess you have to look on the positive side and still has two legs , my brother crashed his bike when he was young and had to have an operation and was in hospital for a while , never ridden a bike since calls them death traps ,but I guess in his case smoking weed twenty mins before smoking weed didn't help and in my mind was the cause ,,, keep you chin up Charly
MultiMac999 Great isn’t it! it’s our Bsmc X Goldtop -McNicol jacket. You can find it here: bikeshedmoto.com/collections/jackets-shirts/products/bsmc-x-goldtop-mcnicol-jacket-black
Don't you fuggin give up charley !!!, You are an ambassador for bikers ,hope to see you and ewan on another adventure, Until then happy to see you back on your feet . See you later mate, take care
Ha ha ha Growing older is not for the faint hearted - l broke my back, it took a long-time to learn to walk again - yet l was on the bike within a couple of weeks, needing assistance to geting-on or off - can't imagine life without a bike
There aren't many places you can't go on a 125 or 250, ask anyone from South America or Asia or Africa. 1200cc and how many pounds? is overkill unless you have a support crew nearby.
Nice chat/interview...great to see the enthusiasm for bikes is still strong!. Hope Charlie does the Ireland trip he mentioned...it's a fab place to ride. Cheers, Steve th-cam.com/video/76_UnFO25S8/w-d-xo.html
I don't about English law but you won't generally void your warranty unless the item you changed caused the problem your trying to warranty. For example changing a clutch lever would not void your warranty on your wheel. I do like the idea of ordering the bike the way you want it from the dealer but I am afraid the wait time who be 4 to 6 months to the U.S. I just waited 4.5 months for a van from Spain....not ever again.
Charley is a gem. I would love to see him in more things.
Great to see Charley, always enjoy watching or listening to what he has to say.
That line "I can't think of anything else I do really that doesn't involve motorbikes " priceless!😄

Charley on top form, good to see. Lovely chap, great rider and looking forward to seeing more bike adventures soon. Nice interview.

Love the hint he drops at 23:40 about a possible secret project “There’s such a LONG WAY to go”

' long way to go' sounds like a good name!!!
Great Story 😎⚡️👌
Inspiring guy. #move forward.
Good to hear that Charley is on the mend and amused that when asked to talk about other manufacturers he couldn't bring himself to mention KTM or BMW!
Kevin Viney, well wasn't he a PAID SPOKESMAN for Triumph?

If it was the cager's fault, then Charley must have sued for loss of income.
