    It’s kind of ridiculous trying to find out which of these bikes is “best”. They’re designed for two different things, and different riding styles.
    I think they’re both great.

    Now that some time has passed, i wonder if any Bobber riders can comment on the seating position. I’m especially interested if the suspension is harsh enough to aggravate those of us with some back pain. My Thruxton R is fine in that regard, with a bit more weight on the wrists, arms and chest, and off the spine. Really curious. Love the Bobber looks! TIA

    I have been lucky enough to test ride Thruxton R and there is no doubt about it, it is a tremendous machine the handling is absolutely first-class it just tips into the corner and stays there like it's on rails.

    Rode a Bobber while my Scrambler was being serviced and enjoyed it, goes very well, handles very well and looks nice. However, the standard single rear shock was poor, at least on Sussex/Kent roads. The jarring I felt going over potholes and manhole covers reduced the overall pleasure. Previous I rode one with the Fox suspension upgrade which was much better, but I'm a bit disappointed Triumph chose to fit an inadequate unit in the first place. That having been said, this bike and the likely variants will be causing big worries in Milwaukee! Expect the Little Handed Orange Twat to add Triumph to the list of undesirables banned for the US soon!

    If you're into bobber/chopper/cruiser you will like the Bobber and won't give the Thruxton a second look. If you're into retro sport bikes, the Thruxton is your thing without any consideration for the Bobber. It is like being torn between a Heritage Softail and a Ninja 300 ... sort your life out!

    This is the Golden era of Triumph motorbikes. Lets hope brexit won't spoil the party. I thought a Triumph Bonneville T120 would be enough for me but I had to get the Thruxton R as well. They are two very different characters in the same family so I love them both equally.

    For toddling around wet roads, I'd take the Bobber too as it'd be more comfortable with it's upright seating. When the road dries out and the speed picks up, it's over. The Bobber rider would scrape the bottoms off his exhausts trying to keep up.

  • @studavison
    @studavison 7 ปีที่แล้ว

    I recently took a Bobber out for a test ride and spent a very pleasant sunny morning blasting through the Cotswolds. It was "nice" but it didn't knock my socks off. Having read and watched a load of reviews I expected the handling to be quicker than it was. It was good compared to similar machines from Harley, Victory, etc but not as quick to turn as a lot of these reviews would have you believe. I could've lived with that but where has the power gone? I found it adequately rapid but that's not what I want from a Bobber. I was hoping for some "shit my pants" acceleration in a straight line and the thrills just weren't there. Something like a Harley Superglide with an extra 200cc feels a lot more rapid with a real kick in the backside. It's a very pretty bike and I really wanted to like it (I have owned loads of Triumphs. I am a fan) but just for naked thrills (although a different beast) something like a Yamaha MT-09 is far better. If they could just put some real grunt in the motor I would seriously consider it, but not as it is right now. Does anyone do any tuning ? :-D

  • @moto9492

    The Bonneville range was the topic of the video and the comments. Thankfully, yes, not the whole line is made overseas. Shame that the heritage bikes, which are most associated with Triumph's history, aren't made in GB. Hmmm, I suppose a hardcore Brit buyer could have one imported to England, disassemble it piece by piece, then put it back together and slap on a Made In GB decal...

    The best thing Triumph have done over the last few years is to end their obsession with copying and trying to compete with BMW. My last two Triumphs were the Street Triple and the Tiger 1050 and since then their model line up was dire they lost the connection with their core base. I have just bought the Bobber and as far as I am concerned they are now back where they should be manufacturing bikes that people want to buy. I few tears ago I could walk into a Triumph showroom and there was nothing there that interested me. When I bought the Bobber there were several bikes including the Thruxton that I wanted to buy. Now just bring production back to the UK and dump the rubbish that the Chinese are producing on the cheap and stealing Triumph's R and D that will solve Triumph's horrendous reliability reputation and they may have a very successful company on their hands.

And a minor thing was that I felt like it flexed/snaked a bit where the rear shock is, very odd. But the brakes, Omg how are they even be approved for road use with such bad brakes. Other than that, the Bobber was super cool, waiting for a new revision of it.

      ray b - They are designed in Britain by the British. Just because you "assemble" my product somewhere else, doesn't make it yours. Also, what does an old British name mean? Do they have to have a "New" British name to be something they always were? They've always had the name Triumph, lol. I mean hell, I guess Honda and Kawasaki aren't Japanese because they have an "Old" Japanese name.
