Hey uncle ben i have a problem with my picking hand. I can't play with downward pickslanting. I tried every possible picking motions(wrist,elbow etc.) but i couldn't play this type of licks with dps. but when i switch to upward pickslant it became so easy. It's because I'm resting my picking hand thumb to strings.That's how I mute strings. When I try to lift my thumb from strings I lose all the control of my picking hand.I can't even tremolo pick one string that way. Should I try to learn dps or should I go with ups?

Brian Soria yeah, just related to the beats, four notes per beat instead of six. Same amount of notes, technically slower playing if you keep the bpm the same
I'm assuming some people here can help me. I haves a problems. I've been teaching myself to play guitar with the help of the internet for about 3 months now, and I feel like I'm learning everything wrong and out of order and I'm not really getting anywhere. What I do?
Yeah, I figured getting a teacher would be a good one. But I was hoping for something I can do without one, cause it's not exactly an option for me at the moment. Definitely plan on taking lessons once it is though.
ThaBadayuss until you do, focus on getting your physical ability up. Do finger excercises,make sure all your fingers a capable and not just the first 2 (that's a big One) There's not much you can learn musically without a proper teacher so I recommend you just focus your speed and strength.
Just keep going honestly, there is a lot to learn and it can be very overwhelming if your self-taught. Are you struggling with something in-particular or just frustrated?
