They don't have concerts like this anymore. The biggest I've been to was at the Silverdome in Pontiac, Michigan, 75,000. it was Aerosmith.

Probably my favorite Aerosmith song Chip Away at the Stone, I guess they were a little wasted that day. And another of my favorites Draw the Line, they sure did draw the line but there problem was they did not no when to draw the line!

    • @MrGravloc
      @MrGravloc 2 ปีที่แล้ว

I was thinking Joe in particular wasn't having car crashes and despite some lyrical kind of scat it was a pretty cogent performance of the era . Im 55 and saw then in grade school a little earlier then this first time and Steven was almost pure scat , that show made it through a couple few songs before steven had an OD / Seizure ( back when people took SUPER DANGEROUS BARBITUATES for "fun" of which Steven had professed loved for Secanol and Tuenal which are both brain and nervous system toxic and can cause electrical storms in ones brain and death , flopped around on stage in foany convulsions with Joe looking down at and on him and pulling his chord and throwing his guitar to a tech and walking off , Steven was taken away , house lights up and no refunds or explanation . So many performances out there where Joe sounds like those Videos where people overlay bad playing over virtuoso guitar players to troll or goof. Joes train wreck solos going all the way back to the early first TV appearances on shows like old grey whistle test and similar where Joe steps out to take a pentatonic solo on a song he presumably knows and has played a mess and it is bunk notes , out of time and cant cant catch up with stutters , stumbles and bends that are out of key sounding like a kid playing for 6 months . In pretty much every era whether on or off subs there are times when Joe trys to take a solo and I go WTF was that . I love Zappa and far out guitar solos and people say its because Joe is taking chances or going for it as an excuse . Joe makes Jimmy Page at his worst sloppy live stuff look like a clean player while attempting more basic stuff .
Even so Aerosmith is in the TOP 2 of Bands I like and have listened to the most in total time and over nearly 5 decades with Zappa in the same category and I love Joe and all the guys . Chip away is such a DANK groove / song ( i forget its origins , i dont remember if its a cover ) but it doesnt put Joe outside what he is good at and same for draw the line which was a serviceable rendition even if Steven was a bit shouty and not the most nuanced use of his instrument and tone , he did hit the vocal come shot pretty good after the grabbing maraca's for the build up.
Definitely heard way better live performances from Steven and the band but considering the era , drugs , size of crowd, volume played at with probably less then stellar monitors overpowered by PA and WALLS OF MARSHALLS SET TO TINNINITUs ( dont know your age but shows in the 70s were violently loud and even as a young healthy kid your head would ring for days) ,so considering all not that bad compared to a LOT of stuff floating around that fans or people even praise that I as a SUPER FAN of 5 decades think WTF did you just listen to and do you play ? P.S. I have a 90s Korean BC rich that looks like the Acrylic (see through ) Joe is playing that make an old Les Paul feel like a feather . Not a guitar you wanna play for more then one song on stage , especially if your a flyweight like Joe who although tiny , skinny and on drugs was / is pretty strong / fit . I call mine the Boat Anchor , its day glo snot green and people love it , it also plays well although not as fond as staying in tune like cheap dean guitars I have that never go out .

@@MrGravloc I am 58 and have been a Aerosmith fan since Toys in the Attic, and have seen them about twenty something times, but have not seen them in about 10 years. Have not seen them in last 10 years because I think there last really good album was Pump, and in my opinion they play to many songs after that album in there set. They definitely are a tighter band since they got back together when Joe got back into the band. Unfortunately the first time I saw them was When the Lightning Strikes tour, with out Joe and Brad and Joey Crespo and an other guitar player, I forgot his name in a small club on L.I N.Y and Steven was about 90 lbs and was wasted. And believe you mean I know know what tuanals and secondals are, a couple of those and you are on your ass, and Steven would do handfulls.

@@frankperricone2065 Was the Club called Spit ? My fathers place? Uncle Sams? There was Lamours om brooklyn and queens , JP Project played there . I actually hung out with the JPP Band minus JP in Vermont as a kid with a Member who just got married and they were partying at the Ski Resort I was at for honeymoon and party , BROKE AS FUCK , but very nice guy .
P.S. I worked backstage at Nassau Coliseum doing hospitality . Super weird coincidentn, in 84 i was assigned to Phil Lesh when the dead was in for 3 shows . In Woodstock NY where I lived for 5 years until this February where i lived 50 feet away from 1 of the two Main Local music venues called the Station which doesnt get anything big, this fall I started talking to a tourist ( a women) on the street because she had a somewhat rare dog (im a freak about dogs) called a leonberger , she asked about the place and I said yeah its cool and there is outside seating with a fire pit . So she comes over and then her husband , the place is basically dead , the guy takes his covid mask off and Im like hey Phil good to see ya again . Then I tell him I fed him 38 years earlier . I then said I even remember what you ate . His wife said OK this will prove your story as I remember what I had him eating at that time. I say he always ate steamed chicken breast and vegetables and she said YEP you do in fact know him . Partied with him and his wife drinking red wine for a couple hours I told him a story about how somebody unwittingly for me dosed me with 20 Hits of very powerful LSD on the last nite of the run when I wasnt working but showed up to hang as I always had FULL, FULL ACCESS which meant I could go to any show or game and go wherever I wanted , I hadnt met Gerry to that point but now in the Kitchen with a GIANT HEAD OF ACID COMING ON and Gerry who nearly died a couple weeks later and was in a diabetic coma who looked and smelled awful at the time as he was at the tippy top of his heroin addiction , what I do remember was that all that was sent to Gerrys private room the rest of the band was just in the dinning room where they were served , was like big german chocalate cakes and stuff like that which Is what Junkies eat , why at the time he was so obese and why he went into a diabetic coma , So jerry had come down pre show in the Kitchen / Hospitality area and he looked really bad , super pale , greasy looking , smelled like bear shit and the size of a bear wearing big black jeans , giant black t and black shoes and an unfortunate youngish women walked up to meet him , her eyes were like below her nose and not level but slanted downward ( looked half asleep ) with no chin and fucked up top teeth , I was not yet hallucinating / My Boss Jim was there who was like the most awesome guy/ boss ever who had his face\ head cleaved in 2 at some time some how and put back together with a scar that went down and crossed the center line in places and each side not kind of perfectly lined up so in first meet his kind of shocking / disturbing looking with his nose mismatched , lips and whole face from hairline to neck and perhaps lower ( an aside, the coolest . I dont mean just nice to work for but super confident , personable , competent and just a BOSS and why he was the head of hospitality who ran the whole show and the " face" of the Hospitality Company that deals with Rock Stars and the first contact guy. despite his accident and appearance and after a very short while you dont see a monster face or whatever but a tall handsome guy with charisma and the meaning of COOL which is why he can deal with talent like Prince ( who i worked for the opening of Purple Rain Tour) . So as I realize I am just starting to come on and under bright flourescents in the chaos of the backstage of a dead show which is QUITE UNLIKE ANY OTHER ACT by a factor of10 , Jim walls buy , Hey Randy!! How are ya came for the show . good for you have fun and what normally is not odd to me bugs me out a tiny bit and of course I am horrified I might have looked strange upon seeing him which would break MY HEART if he read that wrong and then i see the small unfortunate women looking straight up at Gerry like a God but her appearance NOW is a bit much and I am feeling bad for her but also guilty that I am kind of disturbed by her appearance now as well as Gerry's and this weird kind of sychophant thing happening between the two and now I am tripping (not even close to where this gonna go which is an ENTIRELY DIFFERENT AND HARROWING EXPERIENCE FOR a 17 year old with a fresh head m but anyway now I am staring at this interaction that seems weird and sad but also Dark and Negative in some way and I get the stupidest profound thought (it seemed profound at the moment ) and I thought I GET IT NOW , Gerry is the ANTI SANTA CLAUS and I just see negative energy and very shortly I now need to GTF out of this brightly lit place filled with all manner of characters but also all the people I work with including my boss and other management and I break the spell of my gaze at this scene and book it upstairs to ground level Prominade to try and figure WTF.
SO, i tell this particular story in a humorous way of which is something I am known for (suck at writing but can get groups of people i do or dont know to listen and laugh to pretty long stories) and when I get to the anti santa part ( i have told this story 100s of times) i wonder if it might offend phil that I say that about his lifelong deceased Icon of a bandmate but say fuck it and deliver the line and Phil just bursts into uncontrolable laughter with his GIANT SMILE if you meet him you would think he has 100 teeth and could easily fit a large grapefruit in there . He had just turned 80 Btw and looked phenomenal with the hairline of a teenager and maybe 60 despite on at least his 2nd liver and BEING IN THE DEAD AND ON TOUR NON STOP for 60 years never having stopped when gerry passed.
I said oh I am happy you laughed and not offended I have fealt stupid about that flash idea I thought was profound for ever and he said BROTHER , that is the best description of him I have ever heard and you have no idea how spot on you were . That day which lasted for many years and that Jump off experience was so ingrained in my brain and to have it come full circle 50 ft away from my door was a trip in itself . We had a wonderfull time and his wife gave me her email to be a VIP guest at the theater in Westchester that is basically his home venue in NY and has a place next to it for his Shows their and all the other venues including the stadium when they do the dead , phil and friends , the other ones and all the groups he plays in , But, I never took them up . Whats funny too is WE ARE IN WOODSTOCK and there are some Hippies nearly Phils age still floating around who didnt even recognize it was him until some other people gathered who quietly said high and ebtually there was a pretty big group around the fire pit cuz thats where people were most of them had no idea who they were bullshitting with until they got up to leave to get on their bus to head back to the city and people ,entioned meeting Phil . Really Amusing . The other thing I had said for years after working with Rock Stars including Prince and meeting 100s of celebs and Musicians in other places outside that that Phil was the nicest , most polite , gracious and humble named person I ever met , certainly at the Venue which I had heard rumors about much later in my life about him . I have another insanely disparaging and wild story about both the drummers for the dead who were maybe the biggest assholes I have ever met and Phil basically confirned that as well said amazing musicians but awful people that nobody likes . I have so many crazy stories from that Job. Working Prince for Purple Rain was BATSHIT!! and WILD WILD WILD

@@MrGravloc Wow, that's alot of information, first you named a lot of clubs that I had hung out in many times, Hammerheads is the name of the club Aerosmith played at, West Babylon L.I. bigger then all the clubs you mentioned, Bands on there way up played there, and bigger bands on there way down played there. In the 80's at the Nassau Coliseum I got to know a older black gentleman who worked at the entrance were the tour buses and limousines came in, so when I did not have a back stage pass or ticket he would let me and sum buddies in. Was back stage at lots of shows MSG, Coliseum and out of town, because a older friend was a roadie for lots of big bands, also to much to list then landed a gig with Van Halen for a quit a few years, for instance you must Know who Wolfie Van Halen is, it was me and Valerie Bertinelli holding Wolfie when he was a baby watching the show from side stage. Got to know Sammy and the bass player Michael very well because I was back stage so many times, different cities. Tell you the truth Eddie was not that friendly and Alex the drummer was a asshole. Lots of stories, Nixxi Sixxs taking my coke, without asking, drinking beers with the boys from AC/DC, meeting Bowie, John Entwistle,Steve Miller, the sisters from Heart and many more, my friend got very well know in the industry, unfortunately he passed about 5 years ago, his nickname was big Moon. Plus I would sometimes get passed from another friend that I grew up with, a photographer named Kevin Mazur, big time photographer for Rock and entertainment, good times !!

@@frankperricone2065 I WAS GOING TO ADD HAMMERHEADS!!!! i dont know why i was thinking in terms to Nassau county for some reason not sure if I have been.
Well, you are certainly WAY more intimate with legit connections to, rather then circumstances that have afforded me more then average insight into the world we are discussing and therefore much greater insight as you sound bright as well.
Its funny , but you sort of have to be an adult and grow up in NY or California ( Not Exclusively ) to talk about such things randomly on the internet without being called a liar or something . Many people grow up in localities where random exposure to "big names " is much more common for obvious reasons.
Too many people , especially younger and parochial think that rock stars somehow exist in bubbles , some do in a sense but regardless we all encounter and extreme amount of people in our lives wether they are notable or not with the major difference being geography if you are not an industry person yourself.
I am amused that people dont consider THE VAST AMOUNT OF PEOPLE who work in service , hospitality and all manner of lines that are ancillary as well as mundane that anybody famous or not encounters in a lifetime especially in a population dense area where it is more common to meet people who are famous . There are levels that get reached where a particular individual becomes insulated and deals with the world through teams and only interacts with peers for the most part , but they all come up before that .
Think about the nature of "celebrity " Male sexuality and the idea that for all the Rock Stars (in whatever field) and such that are approached almost anywhere they go , especially in the more "real" world they are expressly given permission to do as they please by women who a certain % will be appealing and then think of the amount of women who have had sex with or more likely in my experience , simply pleasured that individual . There is 330 mil in U.S. and there has to be MILLIONS of women or men alive today who have been at least physically intimate with somebody of note casually . More so with men as a man walking up to a famous women offering sexual favors bluntly will cause lumps to break out all over your face and perhaps a ride somewhere .
But if you then ponder all the other interactions if you live in certain areas it is almost unavoidable if you go out in the world yet people will call BS on any story on the internet as though you are claiming to have met Bigfoot at a party thrown be Aliens .
I have a feeling you will relate to this . But people who are infatuated with celebrity or see them as above them will be less likely to ever have an actual encounter of a real sort . One generally has to not be a "Fan" in the true sense of fanatic to "meet somebody" as most of the real experiences I have had I acknowledged I knew who the person was or by the nature of contact it was obvious but then just talked them as one would a person at a bar or anywhere else which in most cases is what people want and if you are the sort who is non plussed but also respectful and hopefully interesting on some level then that person generally will receive you in a manner that is normal and engage you and often quite happily being surrounded by sycophants or people who LITERALLY want to suck their dick as the first interaction . Like with Phil and his wife my story that he found so amusing was at best 5% of the interaction with 30% being about dogs , how they met offered by them , and then just cracking jokes about common experiences that all people relate too . Both Phil and his wife were so pleased at the interaction with not just me but everybody there and ONE PERSON got an autograph that was completely appropriate as his stand up base is stored in the bar on display just as art so he had Phil Sharpee the instrument and I dont believe anybody or maybe one person who was a lifelong fan who was sophisticated enough not to wet her pants might have got a selfie , they both remarked they would like to return specifically due to the small town vibe and relaxed interaction. Phil laughed for like 2-3 hours . Sort of funny but not really considering the nature of the concert that they had never visited woodstock before .
Well i have gone long again m but I am VERY SURE you have a ton of interesting and wild stories and some inappropriate to share due to the nature of the relationship .

I grew up with Aerosmith and no doubt these are cool tunes, this is when Steven and Joe were fighting. Each of their camps were telling them they didn't need each other, hence 0:52 Steven looking backstage with a look at how awful Joe was singing, and 1:48 Steven just walks away leaving Joe hanging out to dry. When you put drugs in the mix of a creative person, the drugs were lying to them, telling each of them they didn't need each other. To make Aerosmith work, they do.

To Aerosmith fans. Anyone knows why there's not so much matterial of the band in the 70's? I mean filmed live concerts/songs. I found a lot of Kiss material but not from this band. And it was supposed to be one of the biggest ones along with kiss, cheap trick, etc.

I was dating a woman for just a few weeks when Aeromsith came to town-a band she loved. I surprised her with the tickets. We went and had a blast, but yeah, I exercised a lot of will power to not let my eyes drift. I was talking to her and a pack of women walked toward us from behind her as she was talking to me. 2 of the girls smiled and waved-both super cute. I had the concentration of a chess master for that fleeting moment.
