I have a 5 gallon waterer for my chickens. It is one of the red bottom waterers that is made of white plastic. I have found a way to eliminate algae. First, when I clean it out every Sunday, I use white vinegar and water to clean it out, killing any algae that is present at that time. This alone makes cleaning the container a breeze. Then, when I fill it back up with water, I add a couple of Tbsps. (or less) of apple cider vinegar. This keeps algae from growing in the water. The small amount of apple cider vinegar helps keep my chickens digestive tracts healthy.
That's correct Turkeys can't be in with chickens especially raising them,Turkeys are delicate when small and will get sick mixed with chickens, Turkeys are bomb proof after they've grown.
Freezer camp !!lol Thats Awesome! Also, a lot of great ideas that are tried and true. As for predators I find everything LOVE chicken! I got Fort Knox around my girls
I have a complete build playlist of step-by-step instructions for what I build and I do build them for people who are nearby. It all breaks down and fits on a 12’ trailer. Oh, and I am the guy in the video. Hi.
Joel Salatin’s idea of putting rabbits in those horrible wire cages is inhumane. Surely they deserve the same comfort as chickens, pigs, ducks, horses, cows, etc. I don’t understand why people don’t think for themselves and adjust Mr Salatin’s approach to a kinder system.
Joel is the man, but I do understand what you're saying, I've seen a rabbit 🐇 colony system, but it's a bit costly to set up, I'm going to build cages a different way that will be a lot better than what is being currently done, I'm going to use Decorative metal sheets, it's smoother on the rabbits feet, but these sheets are very expensive, cost is the biggest factor.
And a broody hen is happy and fulfilled to raise your baby chicks….they want to be a momma !!! I want a husband who wants to “homestead”……just raise gardens, animals and be more self sufficient!!!

My cages will be built above my compost bins.

Great chicken setup, but I hate seeing rabbits in cages … it’s inhumane and there are better ways to keep them.
