The Little House on the Prairie intro had probably the most frames of animation on the show. The start with Lois and Peter in the carriage looked obviously rotoscoped. The part with the kids running down the hill was pretty well done though.
@@timowthie They could've used the intro as a template and just simply drew the characters on top of the footage. Digitally, of course. Animators like Max Fleischer and Walt Disney did that kind of stuff all the time.
The animation is reaaly nice there, I agree. Another good bit of animation in family guy is the episode where they go to a dimension where everything is drawn by disney, they nail the style really well and it’s the most pleasant that family guy has ever been to look at
I like the reference because it actually happened. The girl that stewie was portraying actually fell on a rock. Amazingly they kept and used the shot for the opening.

Holy shit, the animation for the "Little House on the Prairie" parody intro was so fucking smooth! Why can't all family guy episodes look like this? I bet they have the budget to do it
I'm sure they have the budget, but the time it would take to make episodes of that quality would just be way too long. They would not be able to pump the episodes out at the rate they do with that type of animation
Valentine's day; a day of love, right in the middle of Black History month. There's a thousand hearts in quahog, a thousand stories, some people don't have any stories, others have two. Anyway, here's a song your girlfriend probably likes.
It's easy to miss and really short, but they also did a parody of the Will & Grace opening in 5x12. It's funny how much effort they put into some of these, from the backgrounds to the animation quality, given how they're all used only once and were probably a lot more expensive to animate than the rest of the episodes they were used in.
I’m surprised the show hasn’t done any Star Trek opening parodies considering Seth pretty much has his own Star Trek show Also I think ‘Then there were fewer’ might be a parody of the opening to ‘The Shining’, though it’s a bit of a stretch
Gotta love the addition of having Micheal Palin run to the camera, dressed as a castaway, only to say “it’s”. Plus, it’s footage from the original _Flying Circus_ show.
Family Guy has changed quite a lot over time and some people just don't like the direction it's taking. It used to be a lot more like the Simpsons and other animated sitcoms but I much prefer it as a sketch comedy where the story is just a jumping-off point for cutaways and parodies etc. The show is very self-aware and self-deprecating and I think that works in its favour. Quality hasn't really declined as far as I'm concerned - it's more of an up and down that has been going on for many years now. I don't even like the first 4-5 seasons very much but I'm sure parts of the audience wishes that style of comedy back.
10:28 I was initially like "Why does this sound so familiar to me?" It's because they use that entire piece of music as the BGM for the Family Guy pinball in Pinball FX 3.
