Burned out my raceband today on my reaper. Voltage meter wasn't working. And it was a first flight. Landed in the sun across the field. OUCH, live and learn. Lucky I still have a functioning Reaper, just no raceband now.
Hey Joshua, "schon richtig" is German and means "already right". It's spoken like "shon rihjtig" or "shon rihjtihj" while you speak the "ch" almost like the "h" in "Hugh" or "human". I hope you learned something, today. BTW I learned something from your video, today. Great work and keep it up! Love your content.
This feature just came in handy for locating my quad lost in a snowy forest. I crashed into the trees. I used the directional patch on my goggles, and via this switch dialed down the lost quads VTX's output to 25mAh allowing me to triangulate with precision the video strength, and I located my downed quad.

I love your excitement for changing channels with switches. 🤓 I’ve wanted this for years. Also, fun fact, the issue you encountered with the aux channel number is so common it is a name, it’s an “off by one” error.
Hello JB, I wanted to thank you for your 3 year old video. Even if there is an error in it, I got it right, was very helpful and works. I've seen some videos of you and I'm a fan. Recently I've also been watching your life show. Unfortunately Life of the Dolmetcher does not work but I understand quite a lot. keep it up.
Thanx Joshua! I tested this method and I found two issues. 1. there is only 10 positions of vtx index (from 0 to 9) so if you want set one swith for channels and second for power then there is not enough position in the index for all. 2. swhitching channels worked only until first arm, after that, channel cannot be changed. I have to unplug battery and plug it back then I can change the channel by switch again.
Mr. Bardwell, you are definitely the best. Every time I see a video of you, I learn, and sometines it makes me smile. The end of this one is very funny, and of course the content in this case, very interesting. Greetings from Spain
Just setup two new Nazgul 5's with this method and works flawlessly. Had to download (Copy) the Tramp table and config the power outputs to only four power levels 25 100 400 and 600. Cant believe how easy this was to setup. Thanks JB.
Thanks so much Joshua, another great tutorial that worked flawlessly, without your help I’d never figure out how to get out of 25mw. Now I’ve got 800 when I want it
You can use your trim switches for this with a bit of OpenTX wrangling... have one to click through channels 1-8, then have two power levels on another trim. You can even put pit mode on the same channel as the power trim, with pit mode using the first half of the range so that the centre beep lets you know it’s on!
My vtx power was not changing automatically and as a result my video signal quality was poor. I have followed your instructions and have set a switch for 25, 200 and 400. Gonna do an outdoor test flight on my meteor75 pro. Thanks Josh!
Joshua, if you don't remember, I asked you once if this was possible. I discovered it this christmas thanks to my brother in law who has never flown a quad or something similar and just found out after 5 minutes looking on internet when I hopeless explained him how easy would be to do that and wasn't possible. yeah really happy with this new option! Now I take off on 25mw and switch to 800mw when Im away!
Hi JB. Thanks for again a great tutorial. This isn't for analog pilots only anymore. It also works on HDZero. With BF 4.4 you can even do it without SA and just use the UART for OSD. I've done this myself and I can now switch channels of my VTX using the six position switch.

The microcontrollers, by nature, like to start at zero. So if you have an 8-bit port called Port B, the pins will be manufactured in that the bits (pins) of Port B are labeled PB0-PB7. SA is nice but a pain in the ass when you're in a hurry and want to immediately start walking to your quad and not stand there while you flip through menus. Plus I assume if you're far enough away that 25mw won't let you see video, you can flick the switch back to 500 or 800mw to take a quick peek and flip back to 25mw. Which might also make it easier to find if you go down in a large field with no landmarks by going down to 25mw and using a patch antenna on your goggles to get the direction of the quad. It's great to just flick a switch and get down to 25mw. Much faster than going through SA.

Josh forgive me but i have a problem with my VTX Sending images from the vyx but i get staic only thru my Canera and i see notbing. What can be cauding this? 😅ids
To be honest I think it would be pretty complicated. Because you have to hold the channel value where it is except when the switch is pulled then allow it to change and hold the new position.
In order to make this work you might need to make an extra vtx power level. On my GepRC Phantom the CLI didn't take the 3rd power level of 200 mW and gave me a 'parse error' until I made a 4th level (which I set to 0 mW)
I just got bit by this bug myself, was kind of wondering if adding a 4th level in my vtx settings was going to be the solution. Came here to read the comments as a google search for "vtx parse error" didn't yield much. I was expecting to see a lot more people with this issue and came to search the comments for a possible solution.

@@EnglishTurbines even with 6 positions, we have so many options with Ardupilot that we sill have to choose what flight modes we Really, really want dont we ha ha.
@@stevefox3763 Yes, I find that sort of thing off-putting in Ardupilot TBH...it's like wading through treacle during setup...it does fly the plane better than iNAV, I will admit..I'm lazy, I use iNAV on everything, including my quads which works really well for me TBH..🤔🇬🇧
Josh! I've been trying to do this for too long. Thanks!
added the mixer but dont show up in betaflight reciever tab
Great video thanks have my first smart audio vtx on the way and will definitely use this!
Ciao JB vorrei fare questo anche con la mia nuova sixty9. Ho saldato il cavo di smartaudio ma non riesco. Sembra andare in conflitto con la Tango...
That's German 😂 7:06 it sounded pretty fun
Keep up the great work!! This was soo soooo helpful!!!
I've been using low power disarm awhile now, it is definely handy, keeps vtx nice and cool
Amazing feature, thanks for the video. I put mine on a scroll wheel. But the aux being 0-indexed and the power levels 1-indexed is very confusing :(
thank Schon and JB, very helpful.. ps: @ JB why no link to the schon's video here?
Wow, this is totally going on a knob. Thank you!
This are the type of videos I really like !
Do you have a video on how to change the fpv frequency?
how do i set it om the potentiometer switch on radiomaster pocket? 😁 it would be nice to have ALL of the powers 0-400mW on wheel
Thank you Joshua and "schon richtig" for that. It's very helpful.
It seems like we can automaticly translate crsf lq to aux channel to switch vtx power..
That's pretty interesting! 😃
Thanks a lot, Joshua!!!
Stay safe there with your family! 🖖😊
BTW, about the "thank you programmers"... You're welcome. 😝
Wow 👌, i was just trying to setup this exact feature. THANK YOU!
Do u have a video on how save the vtx signal. Every time I turn my goggles and drone on I have to push the button on the vtx to find a signal.also on my OSD in the bottom left corner there's a signal bar with the #0 by it.
Josh forgive me but i have a problem with my VTX Sending images from the vyx but i get staic only thru my Canera and i see notbing. What can be cauding this? 😅ids
How do you put a switch on a switch like you mention at 17:50 ?
To be honest I think it would be pretty complicated. Because you have to hold the channel value where it is except when the switch is pulled then allow it to change and hold the new position.
Hi,for me it does not work, I have a unify pro 32 hv, and when activated the image looks distorted
Anyway to set this up on the tbs tango 2 on the momentary button to incrementally increase channels based on presses and announce it outloud?
Yes. th-cam.com/video/wa43z6XohW4/w-d-xo.html
You can use a sticky with global variables on a trim switch to trigger all 8 channels.
