More than anything they're valuable and are often investment pieces. There are fur coats that sell for over $100,000 USD. Furs are graded on their lustre, fullness, softness, colour. Female mink is much softer and fuller than male mink, but it's also less durable and the pelts are smaller, so they attract a greater price (as an example). You cannot match the softness of a fur coat with anything else on this planet, well... Except the animals they came off. Plastic coats *cough*, sorry... "Faux fur" is not comparable, and it never will be.
Faux Fur is pulled plastic and will never be as authentic and good as a real fur. If you think furs are bland then you're definitely in the minority because they are very much in
