What Is MY PROBLEM With The Transformers IRONHIDE?

- The Story about why I'm not a big fan of Transformers veteran warrior Ironhide.
Despite arguably being one of the most popular original G1 Transformers, Ironhide has always been one of my least favorite characters. Whether it was due to his brash personality or lackluster toys, I never really got into this Autobot.

Every toy in my collection has a story, how I came upon it, why I bought it or even just some random or obscure bit of info about it. Admittedly not all of them are amazing, funny or interesting...but I think some of them are, and I'd like to tell you about them...one toy at a time.

@StoriesFromTheToyshelf I always liked Ratchet more. Also weirdly I always got Ironhide and Cliffjumper confused in the g1 cartoon.
@@hiddensquid7048 same...for some reason, even if they were the same mold, Ratchet always seems to look better to me. Can’t blame you for confusing Ironhide and Cliffy....they were both red and kept biting off more than they could chew 😅
Curiously, when I first got into G1 as a child I thought his name WAS Ironside! 😂

You were kinda right with that actually. Like the thing I sorta gravitate to about him is the unlikeability as a person, and if that is written right it could make for a likeable character.
And for that I just have to give him a yeah on miiverse
I like the almost generic "this is a robot" design for Ironhide. It fits his Autobot combat veteran shtick. Like the "generic blocky robot" thing is almost a uniform for front line Autobots.
Yes I agree it fits his no frills and basically gruff personality. It's just as a kid I gravitated more to his flashier comrades :)
There's six Ironhide fans my youngest niece (19) loves him as much as her Uncle when she was 6 she said I sounded like ( at the time I was still drinking a lot so that joke made me laugh). I was a kid in Texas so I loved Ironhide's draw and his kickass take names later way of things. On the toy from I lived in the Bible belt so I didn't see Transformers toy until we moved to Houston and by then his toy was off the shelfs. I didn't get my first Ironhide until my wife got the Studio 86 for my birthday the year it came out. So quick question for you are you ready for Deadpool and Wolverine? You put in a lot of X-Men cut aways in the video this week. Finally the Titanic job I'm on we're mapping the debris field and 3D mapping Titanic so I'm on my dream job and hopefully I'll be asked back for next year. Ok I've taken up enough of your time see you in the next video.
Hey! The SS86 Ironhide is currently the best version of the guy out there IMHO so great on your wife for getting him for ya! Oh I'm definitely looking forward to Deadpool Wolverine. Even if I'm not a big fan of either characters per se, I have loved the DP movies and am curious how they will incorporate him into the MCU overall. It should be good.MCU NEEDS a hit after the many recent disappointing releases...but that's just me :) and congrats again on your Titanic project! It really sounds awesome! Stay safe brother! You should do a video of your full toy shelve. I grew up as a kid in the mid to late 80s and can relate to your videos and how you describe growing up back then. Great videos and keep them coming

Ironhide is my favourite character when I was a little girl he was the one that confidence talk to over people and I have a lot of happy memories of him and Jazz this a kid
That's good to know :) glad to know his character worked for you. I mean we're all different and it's natural for us to gravitate to different characters :) were you happy with Downbeat was portrayed in the live action movies?
For me, it’s Blaster. That character is the Poochie of the G1 era. The toy is a neon mess that throws scale to the wind. We all have our favorites. We all have the characters that grind our gears. Always thought Wheelie was just Blaster’s illegitimate spawn. Would make sense IMO!
Ha ha Blaster as Poochie....now that's a first 🤣 I have to say I've never been a huge fan either. The cartoon version was really one note character. Although I think the comic did him better. But I think his value is greatly diminished due to how awesome Soundwave is 🤣

The guns from bayverse basically saved Ironhide for me. He looks so much as his g1 self with those big cannons.
Yeah those huge arm cannons really made a difference and took his coolness to another level 👍👍👍 G1 Ironhide could have used them instead of all those random gadgets that popped out of his body 😅
Do you have a favorite Bayverse design?

@dillydraws good choices! For me it's Barricade, but not his original look. The one from TLK
As one of the 2 Ironhide fans I do get why you called him a well what you did. He can be rude at times but he's one of the first transformers I ever bought with my own money and for some reason he just stood out to me witch I don't know the explanation for that.
as my Favorite autobots the go in this order
1. Jazz
2. Wheeljack
3. Ironhide
4.Grimlock
Well nostalgia is a strong driving force. On my end I never got the toy so I don't have the same connection. But it's all good :) nice choices there on favorites! Hopefully I'll be able to cover the other two soon!
Aww man. Now I don't know what to think. So I'm in agreeance with Ironhide being the guy you want on your team. Definitely. Dunno if I could think of a better bodyguard/confidant then G1 Ironhide. I never owned his G1 toy until recently and although it's garbage in robot mode, I do enjoy it. I think I'm torn because now I'm aware of Everything you mentioned that I hadn't paid attention to. I'll be revisiting the cartoon again asap. Wondering, if he was human, would he be a buddy? Would he be in my immediate circle of friends? Hmmm..
That's a lot to think about 👍 as long as he doesn't think you're a traitor or pee on his foot I think you'll be good 😅

Headless wonder, my g1 ironhide rubber tires are rotting away 😂
Ouch another problem witrh out vintage toys. Rubber tired are nice and make for smoother rolls across the floor but I genuinely fear for their longevity 😬

I favorite Autobot is sideswipe, but he is kinda generic, so I guess people just have a thing for generic auto bots
Aw I wouldn't call Swipe generic. He's got one of the best looking and iconic car modes on the team. Plus his brother is awesome 😅
I was always a fan of the Ironhide/Ratchet G1 toy. I really love it, but as an overall character, I could take it or leave it. He was a bit of a boar, but not really an asshole... at least not in the cartoon. In the comics he had his moments of a-hole attitude, but nowhere as near as the dickish attitude of Prowl. I've never been too much a fan of the movie version or the other versions of him, so for me the G1 toy is king... lol
You needed to mention Energon Towline... He was probably the best homage of the G1 toy, and the show.

I didn't watch the RID/Armada/Energon/Cybertron shows, but I did collect the figures. Energon Towline is a fun Van-former that was repainted and retooled into a Botcon Ratchet and Ironhide.

Edit: literally everything you hate about him is what appeals to me💀
Also I kinda have this idea floating around in my head for a bit where ironhide joined the autobots more to oppress the decepticons and uphold the functionist society (think southerners from the US civil war) but then he slowly grows more to believe in prime's beliefs as the war goes on and he spends more time near optimus. I like this idea because it adds an extra layer to his unlikeability as well as adding more depth to what a pre-war cybertron wouldve looked like. Take this as you will but this idea just makes me like him even more.
Well that's the beauty of the personalities of most of these original TF characters. They weren't just robots but beings we could relate to. Just because I wasn't an Ironhide doesn't mean others weren't too 👍
Regardless even I can concede that ive grown to at the very least appre rate him for what he is. As he doesn't remain a stereotype caricature but actually develops and changes over tike..at least in the IDW comics:)
Which is why I think your take is a great one. Unfortunate circumstances like wars change people and bots. So I like how a close association with Prime made Ironhide a better character!👍👍👍
Ironhide is my favorite character (short of the obvious) i disliked the video before it even started playing, that said i will still watch it to completion

@@StoriesFromTheToyshelf the i-gear ones scale with classics, universe2.0, generations etc. And The universe ironhide and ratchet are horrible and we don't have have never got any classics brawn. And i-gear made other figures for characters we din't have like beachcomer, cosmos, ratchet, gears, swerve, tailagte(i think) and 2 ubgrade kits for classics cliffjumper and generations kup

at first I dissagreed but understood you. Then I remembered what he did to mirage and, yeah F#%$@ that guy. But he's still way better than the movie version
I'll admit he does have his finer more likeable points. But yeah the way he just jumped on Mirage like that was uncalled for. I'll go as far to say that I'm now OK with Ironhide...but I wouldn't count myself as one of his 6 fans 😅

I do like Ironhide. You can call him whatever you want, but transformers are full of A-holes, Prime is so boy scout it makes me laugh and decepticons early toys looked awfull most of them and them being A-holes...well i don't think i got to say it even.
